“ next time you know there’s a murderer on the loose, i suggest you tell someone. some of us can end things before they start. ”
“ Wouldn’t that make you the murder? Oh...wait, you already are one. “
Maggie pursed her lips closed. Unsure why he even questioned what she was talking about. Taking a step back, she shook her head. “Nothing” she assured him. There was already a crazy moment going around in the hotel, she didn’t want him to see her as some crazy stranger. “You fly a plane?” she asked, a relieve seem to fall over her face. “That must be rather interesting, go anywhere you want basically right?”
Poe shrugged it off as she said the word nothing. She didn’t seem to want to talk about it so he wasn’t going to insist on it. “ I do. “ he answered with a nod. “ Yes, sometimes. Mostly I go on missions. I’m a pilot for a resistance from where I come from. “
‘ i can go through most things — this was just different. i can’t really explain it, ’ barry sighed. mostly because he didn’t understand it. usually, on the earth he was on, all frequencies were the same, or at least, not that different. here, something was just off and he didn’t know why. ‘ but i guess you’re right, ’ he shrugged, inching towards the table again to down the rest of his drink.
“ Is it...you proof? “ he asked curiously. Whatever was going on there was definitely strange. “ Is it me or are hotels on Earth meant to be more... I don’t know. I thought Earth was just humans born here with no gifts. But I’ve run into other people from space, people like you with powers, even people that are from other eras. “
‘ — i can try again, ’ he offered, before pausing. there was something about this place. it was strange that all the windows and doors locked, and all the elevators stopped working — that phones and everything just stopped working. like magic. ‘ yeah, okay, ’ he sighed, stepping away from the wall.
“ Maybe it has something that you can’t go through? If they lock we have to assume they might be prepared for just about anything. “ he said shrugging. This place was strange but maybe it was normal for Earth.
“I don’t know…I’ve just never had it too easy. I mean before the outbreak my life wasn’t difficult, but I know others have had it better. Which I have never been keen on jealousy on them.” she nodded, looking down at her feet that were pushed together. “I doubt I could read right now, it’s too quiet around here, and I just know silence never fully means anything good.” she admitted. “What do you like to do for fun?” she asked, trying to forget this mess.
“ Outbreak of what? “ he questioned curiously. In the information he was given about this world there had been no mention of any outbreak. “ I usually just spend time with my friends or fly my...plane. I haven’t got too much free time in a while until I arrived here so I don’t really know what to do. “
after a few minutes had passed, barry finally stopped, backing away from the wall slightly. it had taken a toll on him, but it wasn’t something he wasn’t used to. ‘ i don’t think it’s working. i don’t know why — ’ he sighed. normally, it was easy to find the right frequency, but sometimes, it just didn’t work.
Poe sighed, he wasn’t surprised. Everything seemed to be pointing to them being stuck there for those two full days. He walked to the couch and sat down again, “ It’s alright. Guess we should find something to do for two days so we don’t go a little crazy. “
‘ you okay?? ’ barry couldn’t help but ask, sensing something was wrong by the way poe spoke. maybe he was hoping he was just jumping to conclusions. ‘ good, here goes nothing — ’ he smiled, moving until he was next to the door. he placed both of his hands on the wall that connected to the balcony, and began vibrating his hands, trying to find the right frequency to phase through.
“ Yeah, just fine. “ he said quickly, shrugging off his thoughts. Poe walked up to the man, staring at his hands in surprise. Sure he had told him what he could do, but seeing it was much more impressive. “ That’s awesome. I wish I could move that fast. “
— Floor Four.
“Are you not scared?”
“ I’m worried but not scared. “
‘ not everything. it — it depends. there are a lot of factors. i was struck by lightning in my lab back home and it’s… a long story. basically, i can run really fast. around 2,530 miles per hour?? and that’s without my suit, ’ he explained. ‘ please don’t think i’m crazy. ’ he knew all of this was probably a lot to take in.
Poe nodded as he processed all that information, sighing after. “ It does sound crazy. “ he stated before smiling at the man. “ But my life is crazy by earth standards so... The force in itself is crazy and I’ve seen it being used. People moving objects with it, or reading someone’s mind. “ he said cringing as he thought about what Ben had done to him. “ I don’t think you’re crazy. “
‘ fair enough, ’ he nodded. though the two had gotten off on the wrong foot when they met, it was surprising how far they had gotten in such a short amount of time. he set down his glass on the closest table, before standing up. he made his way to the door that led out to the balcony. of course, it was locked from the outside to ensure no one could leave, but he could work with that. ‘ i can do this thing. where i can — phase through objects if i can find the right frequency. maybe i could literally walk through the wall and get out of here. find out more of what they know. help them fix everything so we don’t have to be locked in here anymore?? ’
Poe looked at him as if he had said he could do magic. He had seen some things that were strange, mainly when it came to the force. But going through objects was something else. “ You can walk through things? How? “ he asked trying to imagine being able to do that. “ You should at least try it. “
‘ ah, man, i’ll have to be careful, then, ’ he chuckled, taking a swig of the alcohol, before turning to face poe. ‘ you and me, both. — i can… try something, ’ he began, pausing shortly after as if thinking about it. poe trusted him to tell him something. and barry trusted poe, too. ‘ but you can’t tell anyone. ’
Poe looked at the man curiously, wondering what he meant with that. “ I just showed you my droid, I won’t tell anyone. Whatever it is. “
‘ ah, ’ he said, nodding in understanding. ‘ good to know he can sell me out at any given moment, ’ he chuckled. he stood upright again, accepting the drink, saying a quick thanks before joining poe on the couch.
“ Oh he will. Trust me, he talks badly of people. Don’t let the cute exterior trick you. “ he said chuckling. “ I hate sitting here and doing nothing. “ he admitted sighing.
‘ how can you tell?? ’ he asked. ‘ i’ll just have whatever you’re having. i’m not picky. ’
“ He’s speaking to me with his beeping. It’s binary. “ he explained smiling at the man before serving him a drink. Grabbing one himself, Poe walked to the couch and sat down, sighing.
Phasma watched with an even gaze as he stood up, licking her lips a little as she hoped for a fight or some sort of violent outburst. Then she could kill him and claim self defense. He got way too close to her, but she did not move. Her voice dropped to a deadly octave as she responded, “You should be. You do not have an entire resistance behind you. I will find ways to torture you that would make all of my victims shudder. You do not frighten me either, you silly boy.”
Poe clenched his jaw at the rage he felt for the woman standing in front of him. How could she be so evil and so violent? “ I don’t need an entire resistance behind me. “ he said scoffing at her. “ Been there, not that much fun. But I survived and moved on. “
barry knew by how secretive this man was being that this wasn’t an ordinary pet, or so he assumed. but it seemed like he assumed rather correctly when a droid came rolling out. ‘ bb8, hi, ’ he said, chuckling lightly. ‘ he’s pretty cool. ’ he admitted, crouching down a bit so he was on eye level with the droid.
Poe smiled at both of them. “ Yes, bb8 is the best. He seems to like you. " he said nodding before walking over to where he had his drinks. “ What do you want to drink? “
barry followed poe, pausing slightly at the other’s words. he supposed it had something to do with this pet of his, but he simply nodded. ‘ trusting me with — what, exactly?? ’ he asked, as he followed the man inside.
Poe closed the door behind them. “ Buddy, you can come out. “ he said out loud for the droid to hear him from wherever it was hiding. A second later he was in front of the man, beeping at Poe. “ Barry, this is BB8. He’s my friend and yes, a droid. “
“Not for long.” Phasma swore, her bloodied grip on his throat tightening slightly. His question, though she knew was born out of hate and snark, was one that actually struck a chord with her. Giving one last malicious squeeze to his neck, she leaned forward and whispered in his ear, “Something you will never be fortunate enough to learn, nor anyone else for that matter.” Letting go of his throat, she whipped around with military type precision and stood up to watch him writhe. However, she did decide to give him a swift kick to the ribs for good measure, particularly for the tone of his question.
Poe made a face as she tightened her grip, having trouble breathing. Still managing to chuckle as she whispered in her ear. Once the woman let go of his throat Poe coughed, shaking his head. “ Have you consider maybe nobody wants to learn that? “ he asked, grunting as she kicked him right as he finished talking. He got up and stood way too close to her, “ I’m still not afraid of you. “
