This year, Monday February 28th is our annual Beta Appreciation Day!!
For anyone who may not know, Betas are magical and work so, so, so hard behind the scenes to help us bring our stories to life. They stay up with us, support us, give us positive feedback on what we write, and help us polish it further, help us with our confidence, provide a shoulder to cry on when we hit a brick wall, help us get around that wall, and so much more. Betas deserve so much love and appreciation for everything they do for us, and we would be lost without them.
tl;dr - Betas are the best cheerleaders and deserve all the love and support. Please join me and the rest of the Sailor Moon fandom on February 28th in showering our Betas with our love and appreciation. This isn’t just limited to someone betaing fanfics. You can show your appreciation for anyone that helped you with your creative process for fanart or something else. If you have a beta (or just read a lot of fic that has been beta’d), take this opportunity to tell a beta how much you appreciate them and all that they do for our fandom!!
So, how can we shower Betas with love and appreciation?
How you want to show your appreciation is up to you! But if you wanted some ideas, here are a few suggestions:
🌙 Write them a personalized review/tumblr post* on why we appreciate them, and focus on things like:
Good at catching typos
Good at sentence structure
Good at pushing our imagination and creativity
Good at telling us where we can explain the plot better, etc while letting our work shine
Good at leaving positive comments that motivate you or catch how you have improved
*To protect personal information, please avoid including screenshots of comments. If you do choose to include screenshots, please strike out their legal name.
🌙 Create something for them with plot/characters they like:
Write them a short fic tailored to their preferences
Draw them fanart tailored to them
🌙 Drop an ask in their ask box on Tumblr (signed or anonymous) thanking them for all they do
You can do one or the other or all of the above! Whatever feels comfortable for you and shows love is perfect 🥳 🥳 🥳
Please tag me so that I may compile everyone’s posts into one giant post so that everyone can see all the Betas that helped shape our fandom. Tumblr is finicky, and if for some reason, you cannot tag me, please send me a message with your post and I will make sure it gets included!
