Hearing Isaacâs words, the hunter paused, sighing softly as his gaze scanned their surroundings. âYea⊠I was, too. But this town has a way about it, especially in moments like theseâŠâ He chuckled, looking over to the werewolf. âYou helped build that, Iâm sure everything will be fine.â Chris shrugged.Â
Maybe it was the age, maybe it was Allisonâs return. Either way, Chris was finding himself very emotional as of his return to town. Receiving credit from Isaac almost made him choke. âYouâre too humble, kid. You done plenty good all by yourself,â Chris promised him, smiling and nodding in approval. Having formed the relationship he had with the werewolf had been unexpected, but it had helped the both of them and it had kept Chrisâ hope alive.Â
Isaacâs further poking at his ego made the hunter chuckle. âYou talk a lot for someone who knows how well I am always armed,â he pointed out in jest. âWatch it, kid, or Iâll end up asking for a place to crash.â
He knew the hunter was going to try and sooth him about being back in town, though he felt him being late to come back would be noticed. Or at least it was his own guilt eating away at him. âYeah, its not like Scott or anyone would hold a grudge or anything.â He says with a weak smile to the other before sitting back in his seat.
Isaac offers a more genuine smile at the older males assurance that he did a lot of the work that got him where he was. Where his old man would have shamed him and found something wrong with what he did. That he didnât have a job that paid enough, that his place was crap. Isaac however wasnât interested in making his old man proud even if he were alive but making Chris proud, that was something that he strives for.
He laughs, âThatâs cause I know if you were gonna shoot me it would have been a long time ago.â He beams at the man knowing he was pushing buttons but he found out awhile ago it didnât seem what mistakes he made or how big his mouth got, Chris never raised a hand to him unless it was in some training. âHey as long as you like a good couch or well in this case a good enough couch, I figure I owe it.â He however doubted that Chris wanted to be staying on his couch when he could get the comfort of a rented house or hell even one of Derekâs lofts. âBut on the topic of my running my mouth, thereâs chance the town will get more than its used to. Guess my dad took more secrets to his grave than I thought, turns out I have some twin brother I never knew about.â
