Movies are the best
Who doesn't like movies? Whether it is a horror film or tear- jerker, chick flick there is a movie for everyone. I, for one, LOVE movies. I can seriously watch movies all day.
5 reasons why I love movies:
1. They make you laugh- I love to laugh and I personally believe that laughter is the best medicine.
2. They make you cry- I know.. I just said that I love to laugh but a movie that can bring me to tears is as equally memorable. The Impossible is a movie about a family who is washed away in a Tsunami and how they reunite. I cry EVERY time I watch it. (I may be a little soft- hearted. And Where the Red Fern Grows will always have a special place in my heart.
3. They teach us important lessons- I am a Disney fanatic. I have probably seen every single Disney movie and own a lot of them. Disney movies teach us to dream big and chase after them.
4. They inspire us- Movies inspire us to achieve things that we thought were impossible. One of my all time favorite movies is Glory Road and it is about a basketball team in Texas who makes it to the championship game in the NCAA tournament. They have an incredible underdog- type story and who doesn't like an underdog?
5. They bring families together- some of my favorite memories are on winter days when my family and I would pile in the living room and watch movies all day long.
Movies are a great source of entertainment and they can bond people together.Ā They communicate our most intimate emotions.

Learning to live with someone
I remember moving into my room last semester and how excited I about this new chapter in my life finally beginning. My roommate, Sarah, was already here and she was so happy that we were roommates. Sarah and I graduated high school together, so we knew each other fairly well; however, we were not best friends. Throughout the semester we had our problems and I found it difficult to handle. I am not used to having to ask someone to clean their side of the room or dealing with a person who stresses over very minor things. I would like to think of myself as a pretty relaxed individual and she stresses over EVERYTHING. I also found it annoying that she always needed someone to go with her, Sarah is co- dependent and I am not. I had to help guide her through last semester. Now, she did teach me that I do not have to study all the time and that it is okay to put away the books, but it was a rough semester.
I have found that living with a new person can be very difficult, but here are some tips to successfully transitioning into a life with a roommate.
1. Be considerate- realize that their upbringing was different than yours, I mean, you cannot blame them for never doing laundry or dishes. 2. Talk everything out- When you talk things through you can save A LOT of frustration. Do not play the silent game because you're not five years old anymore. 3. Honesty is the best policy, BUT honesty without compassion is pure brutality. Be honest, but try and spare their feelings at the same time. 4. Do not take classes together- although studying together is convenient it makes you depend on each other and you don't meet new people. Also, it is annoying when they always ask you for help when you spent two hours in tutoring and they did not. 5. Set up a roommate contract, SERIOUSLY- Put up guidelines at the beginning so that there is no questions later. Who is doing dishes, how often will you sweep/mop/vacuum? How late can friends stay over? When do we turn the lights off? AND make plans for emergencies. I asked Sarah if she knew what to do if I fell out of bed and was unconscious... She had no clue. Hey better to be safe than sorry.
I hope this helps someone. Be a good roommate and don't get kicked out of your apartment like this guy.
Language is a barrier
My cousins had a student from Denmark stay with them this entire month and it was really interesting trying to communicate with him. Although he spoke English very well, conversing with him was a little tricky at times. It was fascinating learning about Denmark and the differences between the two countries. I found that communicating with people can be very hard, even within the United States. My friends from across the States have a hard time understanding my dialect. When communicating with people who are hard to understand it is always best to confirm what they are saying or asking, no one likes to be misunderstood. I remember being in Brazil where they speak Portuguese, and I donāt speak Portuguese. It was very difficult communicating with the people there. I remember being yelled by an older man, I think it was because I wouldnāt give him my glasses, nonetheless, it was nerve wracking. The children could not comprehend that we spoke different languages and they would talk forever and I had no idea what was going on. Even though we spoke different languages my heart still hurt when I had to leave. Language barriers can be hard to get around but they are worth the extra effort. Whether you speak the same language differently or different languages try and get to know the people around you because you never know what kind of friends will come out of any situation.
The Winking Game
The other day one of my classmates in History flashed a wink at me. At first I was flattered. I mean, cāmon, who doesnāt like a good wink? I didnāt think much of it because I didnāt know the guy so I just brushed it off. Somehow that story came up later that afternoon and I was telling my friends about the encounter and they began expressing their opinions on how being winked at makes them feel. Hunter said if the guy is hot then it is almost always okay to be winked at; on the contrary, if youāre old and creepy donāt do it. Move on past your glory days. Youāre not cute and youāre gross. (For guys my age itās okay now, but move on when youāre 30) Bree on the other hand doesnāt like to be winked at ever, it freaks her out. If youāre in a committed relationship with her then there is an exception but she doesnāt like it at all. Bree thinks that a guy is coming onto her when they wink at her.
Although it is flattering donāt wink at a girl unless you mean it. It could get you into a sticky situation. You donāt want an overly attached girlfriend that you cannot get rid of, or someone who is going to call the cops on you. Whether you think it is okay to wink at a girl or not is up to you. But know she could be thinking one of three things:
1.Ā Ā Ā Ā 1. Youāre adorable
2.Ā Ā Ā Ā 2. Youāre a pig
3.Ā Ā Ā Ā 3. Youāre SUPER creepy
So wink at your own discretion.
My first communication post!
For my Public Speaking course I am required to begin blogging about communication and what it is; however, I have already been blogging about communication since I created this Tumblr account. Granted, all my posts are in the forms of gifs and picture, with a few text posts, but HEY! Itās still communicating, right? I have been communicating with you my thoughts and ideas. I have reblogged things that I enjoy, images that make me cry or laugh. Communication is a two way street.
It has been my experience that communication can be very difficult, even with people who are from the same city. For example, texting is a really efficient way to communicate; however, you should never break up with your significant other over a text. Why? Because: A. It is a little cowardly and
B. You canāt hear voices of the other person
Is it easier? Sure. Sending a text message is easier than doing it in person, but give them a break. Bless their heart⦠I have had many misunderstandings that could have been avoided with a phone call. Instead I heard how I thought my friend was reading the text rather than how they actually were. Eventually, our bond was healed; nevertheless, things that could have been avoided werenāt.
When we communicate we need to make sure that we are being intentional with how we approach the situation, ESPECIALLY, when it is a sensitive topic. Be careful when you communicate and avoid misunderstandings

āAugustus Waters talked so much that heād interrupt you at his own funeral. And he was pretentious: Sweet Jesus Christ, that kid never took a piss without pondering the abundant metaphorical resonances of human waste production. And he was vain: I do not believe I have ever met a more physically attractive person who was more acutely aware of his own physical attractiveness. But I will say this: When the scientists of the future show up at my house with robot eyes and they tell me to try them on, I will tell the scientists to screw off, because I do not want to see a world without him.ā
