Oooh just realized this clip is slightly extended. I’ll take it!
More little things I like from the Foos' Hot Ones video
Dave's full body Shifty impression, Nate's little laugh in recognition. Chris just wanted his nuggies
Ilan asking Pat so enthusiastically to join him while Pat is having the worst time of his life. I laughed out loud. Chris also silently struggling there. Ilan just really wanted to eat those wings. which honestly, feels very millennial-coded (takes one to know one) in itself to me.
hug break
Dave's sweet little reaction when Pat mentioned Taylor
Rami's little kissy face at Chris after the Wallflowers story. and just that he was obviously actually a bit touched
Syncronized POG
Sassy Nate is my absolute favourite
Laugh break
One, love the return of the nickname for Dave. I also love that Dave is absolutely not immune from ribbing from his bandmates. I never thought that but man oh man there are some folks on reddit who seem to think the band is in constant fear of incurring some imperial wrath from Dave. but that is so obviously not the case, Pat clarifying that Bowie actually just told DAVE to fuck off, not the whole band. Shifty bringing up ANOTHER diarrhea incident on top of the one the researchers found. Chris giving Dave a little shove and telling him to keep it moving a few moments before Ilan, the new kid, bodily knocks him out of the musical chairs game. Almost like they are friends or something.
Nate being vaguely threatening after being knocked out of the musical chairs game. that bit could have been cheesy, but the band absolutely committed and it was glorious. Those dudes wanted it.
I love that Shifty won it, maybe especially because he died first in Studio 666. First gif should be what I show from now on when people call Chris quiet 😂. I love the high five with Nate in the second gif too, it just seemed so genuine, like he was actually rooting for him (and maybe he was - Ilan was playing a bit dirty)
This was delightful, I hope we get more stuff like this soon, because it was so fun and now I want more.
Wyd when me and gang pull up
ooh I'll help lol
I live for sassy Nate
(hope I am not stepping on your toes, I needed to do at least one before bed)
The boys are everywhere. And I am so here for it
I feel like Dave still wins. He ate those like nothing last time. I feel like Ilan will be up there. Was Rami just drinking ranch? That might not bode well for him lol. Excited to see how it goes down
I loved Shifty's energy here, just playing in the background of Pat's shot looking directly at the camera. Teenager vibes. Also complete disregard for personal space, which I love. Reminded me of one of my favourite shots in Sonic Highways
Taylor just chillin on the couch while Nate was recording. and Nate gave not a single fuck
Dave, Chris and Nate on Track Star* this video made my week, it was so fun. I love all my Foos but absolutely here for any and all content featuring Dave, Nate and Chris specifically. It really came through how well they know each other here, Like Dave knowing Chris wouldn't get Sonic Youth and how Nate would react to Rites of Spring. Chris being all "I think you're giving Dave easy ones". Anyway, I enjoyed this a lot.
Shut up. I love them.

why is he staring into my soul
Happy Album Release Eve!! Especially for all the Foos fans experiencing their first one. It’s a great time and for a while I thought we might not get another normal album cycle
“if you went missing i dont think i would stop [looking]”
He’s so cute, catching himself singing along for a second there. Also those glasses make his eyes look huge. New song sounds great too
So is this going to be an experiment where they give every band member a camera and tell them to preview a song?
Chris: plays a guitar solo
Pat: shows off his guitars and gets sappy.

it’s a Sunday night and I am bored so I want to share some of my Foo headcanons. These aren’t the shippy variety, just the “band doesn’t tell us much so I filled in some blanks” variety, one of my favorites is that I would like to believe that Taylor went to bat for Chris in his early days in the band .
So one of the most fascinating bits of drama in the band history for me is that Chris basically knew it was a possibility since he joined that Pat could come back at a time when he would have replaced Chris rather than what eventually happened, which was just Pat coming on as a third guitarist.
Chris talks about this in Back and Forth (and according to reviews by people who saw the first, longer, cut of the film, it seems there was originally more about this that didn’t even make the deleted scenes. You can see a bit in the first Back and Forth trailer at about 27 seconds “why do we have to get someone who used to have my job?” )
ANYway in the version of the film we had, he talks about finding this out at some point and his phrasing is interesting. “Dave didn’t know I knew that, I guess most of them didn’t”. “Most” of them implies at least one did. So either someone told Chris, or Chris found out and confided in either Nate or Taylor. Nate was my first instinct, (and it certainly could have been both) but as I thought about it, I liked the idea of it being Taylor. For a few reasons.
Tay gets credited with being the “musical director” of the band. The one who cared the most about them being good and arranging “sectional” rehearsals with just himself, Chris and Nate. This was even reiterated in very recent interviews from 2026. I think he would have recognized and appreciated the chemistry they were building.
Taylor was in the band with Pat for the shortest time at that point, and, in fact has told the story several times that Pat up and quit the first day he walked into rehearsal lol. He might have been more objective about it. He also knew what it was like to come in as the new guy and might have been sympathetic
He might have been one of the few people at that point who could influence and push back on Dave. I can’t help thinking that if Dave had his mind made up on a decision, he goes through with it, what could have changed his mind?
Chris told a story a few times about how early on, Taylor sat him down and had a conversation with him where he told him to “make himself indispensable” in the band, I think that ties in neatly in this scenario.
I like to think Taylor advocated for Shifty early on, it makes sense with his personality, and also from a practical “we want to be the best we can be” perspective.
There’s also a few other things, like the interview from Big Day Out in 2000 where Taylor gives Chris a big hug right when Dave was talking about having a ton of fun playing with Pat again at a one-off show. And like later on the only time Chris really got to show off in Foo shows for a long time was during “Cold Day In The Sun” when Taylor had the reins. I think he was a little bit more in tune with what his bandmates were doing during a show than Dave was.
Another thing is Chris talks about a time when he was kind of bored and disillusioned with music, guitar playing and maybe life in general (seems like right around the time he got sober, as that rarely happens for no reason) and one of the things that made him love music again was playing with Chevy Metal and just having fun. And like if you watch those videos, it doesn’t get talked about much but their playing in CM was tight as fuck. In another interview, when Chris was asked in an interview what he had in his monitor for Foos he said that it was really only Dave’s vocal and Taylor’s drums (particularly the snare and kick) it also tracks with what he said in a few interviews about feeling totally lost even in songs he played a million times without Taylor :(
This is probably long enough but one more thing about this bit of history that I find fascinating is that it seems like Pat coming back kind of broke Chris and Dave’s relationship for awhile after that. They seemed a lot closer up until that point and really distant for a long time after that, which is kind of a bummer. It seems like (again, according to some interviews around Back and Forth) Dave, being the somewhat conflict-adverse person we know and love, didn’t actually take the time to say to Chris (who was newly married and had one and maybe two tiny kids at that point ) “hey this is what’s happening, but don’t worry you’re not about to lose your job” which it seems like that’s all Chris would have needed to be ok with it. It kind of seems like it was a moment he realized they would only ever be work friends and kind of pulled back (though I think this has changed a bit in the long years since)
The other thing I love is that is is basically between Dave and Chris, since Pat and Chris seem like biological father and son at this point lol
Anyway, I have more of these, maybe I will post them at some point if anyone cares.
So happy THIS is the comment that got me noticed by the Foos (social media intern). No notes
Also Nate’s face is hilarious here
Am I going to spend €6 ($10 CAD) to read a badly google translated version of this interview because I have no impulse control whatsoever? Probably.
Update: our boys are so traumatized you guys
For the first time since 2022, the Foo Fighters have a neatly untangled thread in front of them. But anyone who has ever put down a carefully coiled headphone cable, only to find it tangled in an eight-fold Gordian knot a moment later, knows how quickly things can change. This is something that also concerns Shiflett when it comes to the upcoming big Foo Fighters live shows, which will keep the band busy well into next year: “If I think about it too much, it overwhelms me. Especially with the last few years in mind, I try to block all that out and be as present as possible. I’ll believe that we’re really performing when we walk onto the stage, not a moment sooner. Don’t get me wrong, I’m looking forward to it. But I don’t take it for granted anymore; the past has taught me that.”
though also:
Time alone hasn't healed the wounds inflicted by the events of 2022. The fact that the Foo Fighters still exist today is largely thanks to their previous album, "But Here We Are," which the band recorded while still in shock after Hawkins' death: "This album was one of the hardest I've ever made: losing Taylor and at the same time somehow keeping our extended band family intact, that was very difficult, but we managed it," says Grohl, who himself played drums on the recording. "We've always been very close as a band; our children and families are close friends. We all came together to help each other through the loss of Taylor. And for me personally, there was also the loss of my mother to process. The album is necessarily a love letter to both of them and, on the other hand, something that encourages you to keep going and somehow look ahead." Even bassist Nate Mendel has to take a deep breath before talking about the album that laid the foundation for all subsequent band activities: "I love this album; it was exactly what we needed at that moment to cope with the terrible loss of Taylor and to be able to remain a band despite everything."
❤️❤️💔❤️
I love them. I love that they are still here
