Not dead, that's good right?
violetbat replied to your post: Not dead, that's good right?
Sounds very good to me. How you been, Bette?
Hey Stephie...
I'm tired. I've been running. Too much running. From shadows, from people, from just everything I guess.
You? And everyone else? I haven't seen anyone recently...
Not dead, that's good right?
I don't even know anymore.

Lost Rays of Light || Closed
Bette tucked and rolled along the top of the roof, hitting the tar hard, but with enough bounce and momentum not to hurt. She had been running from shadows for weeks. But those shadows were deadly – one wrong move and zip, gone. She hadn't been feeling well at all, what with all the craziness happening to all her family members, and had been doing extra patrol shifts. And obviously with extra patrol comes extra attention – because who could ever miss a young, pretty girl in red spandex?
People forget though, that Flamebird had more than one context. She she was no Thara Ak-Var, but she was something. A human with the soul of a phoenix, you couldn't kill her no matter how many times you tired. And boy, was this creep trying.
At first she thought it was the Scarecrow she was up against – crazed man, full of laughter with a pinpoint knowledge of fear. But it wasn't Scarecrow was still stuck in Archam. This was something she wasn't aware of, something new.
She really needed to get Oracle's database downloaded into her head at this rate.
As she turned, she caught a sliver of a face. A pale eye, unblinking. He had finally caught all the way up to her. Flamebird had run out of places to run, something she really had to stop doing anyway since the whole family probably thought her a bit of a coward since she always avoided all the damage and heartbreak by simply... never being around. Never being called. Never being wanted.
Well, now she had her wish. She was wanted. And bloody terrified for it.
“Alright you, show yourself!” Flamebird said, turning in her crouched position to face the person. She was meet with nothing but silence and a smile that could cut the deepest glass.
She took a deep breath – and rushed them.

ooc - I haven't gotten to do anything since coming back, so hence self-para. The villain isn't anyone specific unless you all want to make it someone specific. I'm still a bit lost with where the plot is right now to be honest.
Back ! (Sort-of)
I still have to do a bunch of presentations this week, and I'm beyond out of the loop on here, so yeah. If someone could fill me back in on where I am / what I'm doing / if I'm needed or whatever that'd be great.
And what's up with that wedding? And, uh, whatever else that's going on that was major and really important? Like, Terry's whole plot line?
On Hiatus until 18th
Sorry, but you all already probably realized this, since I've barely been on recently.
I'm just making a post so more than just Cass / jncera knows what's going on.
If you really need me, hit up my main account here, I'll be popping in an out of that.
If you need a Bette / Flamebird while I'm gone, talk to bettekane, I'm sure she'll be able to help you all out.
See you all when I can.
Taking Matters Into Their Own Hands
Barbara stared at the Bat computer in the cave. She had been working on it all night, because Dick had asleep almost all day. She frequently went to check on him as she worked on the computer.
Barbara had no idea at first how hard it was to try to fix a computer with one hand. Her left hand had been healing, but she still needed to be really careful with it. This was getting frustrating though. All she wanted to do was look over some surveillance tapes while Dick was sleeping.
When she finally got the computer to work properly, she put Zitka (who had been hanging around the cave with Ace) on her lap and got to work. Checking out news stories, hacking into security cameras around Gotham…
When she found something that caught her eye. A video woman in a cat mask causing havoc yet again in Gotham.
Lynx.
Wasn’t Bette and Tim supposed to be taking care of Lynx? Tim more than anyone. Barbara had just assumed that Tim had handled the situation.
Guess not.
“Oracle to Flamebird. Remember Lynx?” She asked into her comm, waiting for Bette to reply.
“Rather than waiting for Red Robin, I think we should take matters into our own hands.”
She couldn’t take much more of this.
Lynx no longer had to make trouble around Chinatown herself-thugs ready to assault her were waiting seemingly around every corner, and were not adverse in the slightest bit to raising all sorts of hell in their wake. Day and night, Lynx was running. The rare and short hours when she was able to shake her pursuers were spent on sleep and failed attempts to locate Red Robin. If only…
He was a gifted detective; he could deduce the identity of the one behind the attacks, of this Lynx had no doubts. But her faith in his intellect was beginning to far surpass her faith in him. So much has happened in this part of town-she has made sure of it!-and yet there has been no sign of Red Robin. Instead she has dealt with a flaming bird and a block-headed Kryptonian.
If this continues, Lynx will…
‘Thinking like that is not an option,’ Lynx told herself as she simply ran, her body fueled by adrenaline alone. Her pursuers were a good distance behind her, thanks in part to a stroke of luck at a four-way intersection involving a bus of which Lynx was able to grab hold of the side, but they were gaining fast, and Lynx was rapidly losing speed.
She scrambled up the fire escape of a small boarding house, heading for the roof. Once there, she blended into the shadows surrounding the doorway which lead into the building and waited, throwing knives in hand. As soon as the thugs appeared, Lynx sent the blades flying into their feet and ankles. The knives served their purpose, and Lynx slinked off of the roof and back into the alleyways of Chinatown.
Bette was having a typical, boring uni student night. Currently she was munching on an apple and doodling in the margins of her science homework, not really caring for it at the moment, when she heard the comm on her dresser go live. She rolled off the bed and snatched it up, listening to the message.
“Yes I remember the white-cat girl, Oracle.” Wow saying that sounds weird. Oracle, not a Batgirl...though it did make it less confusing about who you were talking to. Just, the conditions surrounding that were highly unfortunate.
“Yes, I agree. I haven't even seen bird-boy recently at all. And with all the chaos recently in Chinatown that seems to be appearing in the news, I'm pressed to agree.” Lords Bette, bad time for stupid puns.
“I'll head off to Chinatown now if I've got the clear from you then, yeah? Or did you have a more specific plan? Something about holographics right?”
Bette balanced the comm on her shoulder and she darted around the room getting her gear and other stuff together and costume on.
Time to turn the heat on and get this game started.
She was determined not to let this Asian Catwoman knock-off get the better of her this time.
ooc - sorry for not being on much recently, I've been, uh, feeling out of sorts and RPing the amount of happy Bette tends to be is a bit of an effort right now.
But I'll go dig up the thread from yesterday [sorry Babs, Lynx] and try not to muck up the reply too much regardless.
Cutest bird and bat ever ~ Oh please tell me you have robins as your cake topper…
Oh…Well hacker boy be slacking then. He’s probably, uh, distracted or something. Maybe I should try the brick approach to get his attention.
That’s actually a really good idea! I’ll have to run that by Dick!
This is his responsibility though because it directly involves him and that might be a good idea.
Oh yay! I'll be happy with whatever you get though. It's your day after all.
Yes, it is. But he's had a rough few months. And he might be spotty after the memory blackout still. Has anyone checked that? You know for lasting effects? Ok, I'll stock up on bricks then.
Well, NO DUH girl. Shesh, it’s harder to be excited about a wedding than the bride and groom are (or bride/bride , groom / groom or aliens…or whatever) :P
Mhmph. No I’ve…I’ve barely heard from Tim at all since he got back. Not that that’s abnormal for him. Why?
Hahaha. I know. :D
Because I asked him to contact you about handling Lynx…I guess he’ll get around to it though…

Great! It’ll be nice having you up there with me. :)
Okay. No bad scenarios here. Too much negativity going around already, I don’t need to be thinking about stuff that could possibly happen. Haha
I’m so excited :3 I think we all are!
Sorry! Sorry! But best to be prepared …?
I’m glad you’re excited! I don’t think anyone is more excited than Dick and me, though. :D
I guess so. Speaking of which…has Tim contacted you at all about Lynx?

Yeah…I might have to get rid of those…littletoo girly.
By the way, if you want, I’d like you to be a bridesmaid as well. :)
I will hop on that like jam on a scone!
I’m not going to miss it for a multi-verse crash!
Well… I mean if that does happens, I guess we’ll all be busy and have to postpone. But it’ll be fine!

bettebirdflame answered your question: What I’m thinking for the bridesmaid dresses. …
It’s a nice colour! Not sure about the flowery stuff on the shoulder though…
Yeah…I might have to get rid of those…little too girly.

As soon as I get settled, I'll take you up on that fruit salad and tennis match Ms. Kane! :)
Oh hello! You must be Holly.
It's wonderful to meet you, and I certainly look forward to it.
milliondollardebut replied to your post: Holy Guacamole Batkids!
Doing better, Bette. Now that Dick is awake. Did you hear the news?
The news? Oh Babs dear, I don't need to listen to the radio when we're the ones making the news. Kidding! Yes, I've heard about it, a pretty ring for a pretty girl and a wedding coming soon to top it all of. Let me know if you need help planning ~ I'm decently good at decorations. Not that, you know, between the both of you can't afford professional help.
I'm excited for you! and sad that I have to have that old dream pried out of my hands. Ah well, live and learn! ... Just fall in love with someone who likes back next time, Bette. That'd be great.
Hey Bette! Im probably sure you dont remember me, and I dont think we ever had the pleasure of meeting in person, but uh Kate talked a lot about you. (Way back when we talked like friends and not like highschool mean girls ;) ) How have you been though?
Oh, hello Renee!
Yes, I've heard rather a lot about you at any rate, even if my mind is a bit more fuzzy around the deals of our previous encounters. I'm sure we must have meet at one of the police galas or something or other. But it's wonderful to re-meet you.
Hah! Yeah, I kind of get what you mean. But Kate's family, and even when we have our rough patches like that, well, we know we'll always find a way to fix what we broke. Most of time anyway.
I've been, well I've been about as good as I can be all things considered. University work and all, end of the semester things.
((ooc - does Renee know about Bette being Flamebird at all / Does Bette know about Renee being Question? I don't remember. ))
Let us never forget that time Renee Montoya set a bitch on fire.
Thats right I did.
Amen.
Oh did you now?
And here I thought I was suppose to be the girl on fire.
