Han couldn’t help but chuckle. This girl definitely had an interesting way to put her words. It was almost endearing—Han hardly ever inwardly thought that about anyone. However, something had already told him from the instant that she had walked into the shop, that something like grandidierites wouldn’t suffice for a satisfied purchase of his customer. Judging by her attire, regardless of the rarity of the gemstones, there wouldn’t be a chance that she would be satisfied with a duller stone.
It was a gift for her mother, and that quirked a grin on his lips. A pretty lady, who happened to be a good daughter—oh, that was so cute. It reminded him briefly of a winter night, but he never let his thoughts wander further into that topic. Han hummed lightly, and nodded to himself. The things that he had on display were definitely not all that he had. What kind of thief—er, jeweler—would he be, if that was the fact?
"I’ll be right back," he remarked, turning on his heel, and disappearing into the back room. He fished out a silver box, and sweeped imaginary dust off of it, before returning to the store’s main floor, and pushing the box over to her.
He kept his hand on the box, “Considering it is May,” he told her, “Emeralds would be the most mainstream gift, if you were to come to a jewelry shop, am I right?” Of course he was. He flipped off the top of the lid, and arched an eyebrow at her. “Red beryl emeralds are rare.” he remarked, “They’re rarer than the grandidierites I showered you earlier; but, how many red emeralds have you seen in your life?” Probably none. “It’s unique.” he added—and he wasn’t just trying to see what he had. After all, there were very few cut specimens of the gemstone avaliable to the world market.
"Or would you rather consider the son in law statement?" he asked, playfully.
Her gaze fell to the box in front her for the slightest moment before she caught the male's eyes again to listen to him ramble on about the jewel. Was he right? How on earth would she know? She had about zero knowledge on jewels, much less which gemstone represented what month, but she wasn't about to show that and so she simply plasters an acknowledging smile and nods mindlessly to his words.
The gleam in her eyes were obvious enough when the lid was flipped open though, and was almost too captivated by the brilliant shade of red-purple before she had to mentally will herself to snap out of it. This was not what she here for. Sure, her mother's birthday was in a week's time but it's not as though she had the kind of money to splurge on such a costly gift. Moreover, her mom was more sentimental than materialistic, and it'd be a gift that she would disapprove of.
Gently closing the lid with a small sigh, she slipped her hand into her bag to take out several files and dropped them atop the display case. "These are transaction records of certain jewels in this shop." She finally dropped the friendly act to replace it with a stern demeanor, tone firm. "All of which were the exact same ones that my clients are missing."
She regained the lightness of her tone again, flashing a curt grin with a small tilt of her head. "Before I forget, I'm Sera Goodman. You may or may not already know me but I'm a lawyer." She lowered her tone, eyeing him in amusement. "And I know exactly what you've been doing."
