Gave in to the urge to gather a few of my drawings of the Red Dward crew together into a sticker sheet.
You can get one here
One thing I love is that every now and again Lister and the gang meet another ship or group that in theory they could go with, and every time they ultimately decide to stay together instead.
Rewatching Queeg. It's interesting how Rimmer truly believes "friends are only friends when it suits them" and then Lister proves that's not true to him repeatedly throughout the rest of the series as a whole
I was watching the Taskmaster task "find the link" with Liza being iconic and to my suprise:
That's my boy!
For context, they have a board of different clues to lead them to hop. I never noticed that part before.
They put my poor boy with his H on his forehead.
The Red Dwarf has been flying around in my head, bumping into the walls making me bonkers .... anyways here are some first attempt sketches of the boys (I have more and some paintings, but all of them are unfinished of course)
Red Dwarf is one of those shows where the homoerotic/gay subtext is not just a garnish. It's in the foundations and the main structure, its load bearing, it's part of the character development and plot points. It's all of it.
i'm asking the important questions!! ☝️like what was The Cat like as a Kitty?
its crazy how nobody has ever been as objectively beautiful as danny john-jules in red dwarf and nobody ever will be again
I'll forever be chasing this high

My boy is almost done!!
there's something so beautiful abt the instrumental here that genuinely makes me tear up EVERY time I watch dimension jump
Lister wip!
some dumb novel inspired sketches
Today I'm thinking about that moment in The Promised Land where Kryten tells Cat he should get a sex change so he can birth Lister's children... which not only does that imply that sex reasignment surgeries are so advanced in Red Dwarf that pregnancy is possible (even between different species??), but it also completely avoids getting homo/transphobic and instead leads to Cat and Lister fighting over who would make a hotter a woman
like i feel like it's kind of transphobic, just in how they present this joke as crazy and absurd situation (which ig it is wild to suggest out of the blue) but how the characters then in canon treat it isn't that bad (more in arguing about who would make the better woman). but like it like tows the line a bit imo, i consider it in quantum state of an offensive joke. the thing i DO appreciate about this scene is that Kryten can canonically do transitional surgeries. just some folding, he's great at that
Yeah, true. I guess I had a more positive reaction to it bcs in all honesty I expected a lot worse from a show written by a cisgender British man in his 60s, and the joke wasn't in-your-face transphobia, just slightly uncomfortable. But it definitely tows the line, like you said!
