Lalita was born on a calm and star-filled night in New Jersey. Her mother, a first generation Hindu-American woman whose biggest dream was to become a mother welcomed her with open arms and from then on, the two became a team. Her upbringing wasβ peculiar, to say the least. Lalita's mother was a wanderer. Free as a bird, she'd spend the majority of her waken hours crafting jewelry and embroidering beautiful fabrics to sell and dreaming of their next destination; a new place to call home for the next few months. The family of two spent the first twelve years of Lalita's life traveling around the USA, Canada and Latin America while her mother homeschooled Lalita, feeding every ounce of wonder and thirst for knowledge to an already curious girl who loved learning about the world. Although Lalita learned to love the life her mother had mapped out for them (and the bond the two had built throughout the years of being eachother's only stable company), the now teenager also craved some sense of normalcy so for her thirteen birthday she asked her mother if they could find a place to settle in where she could attend a normal high school so the two returned to New Jersey.
After graduating from high school and after being accepted to Boston University, the two women embarked to their next adventure together: a backpacking trip around Asia for two and a half months before Lalita had to move to Boston. Wanting to perserve every memory made with her mother before having to part ways for the very first time in their lives, started to document every part of their travels, ultimately uploading the first few country vlogs to Youtube to make space for more footage. Slowly but surely, the videos gained momentum and before returning home her channel reached 20,000 subscribers who were taken not only by the views and foods the two women would show in their videos but by their personalities and the bond the two shared. During college, she'd spend half her time working hard on her BS in Journalism and the other half giving Youtube a real chance and whenever she had breaks from school, Lalita and her mother would continue travel around the world. At age 26, now with an MS in Journalism and working as both an independent Journalist and a part time vlogger, Lalita and her mom traveled to Sedona for an article she was working on. The plan was to stay a couple weeks and then moved to the next city but after a night out that resulted in Lalita claiming to "be in love", their stay stretched. 3 months on the dot after the night out, Lalita found out she was pregnant and after discussing it with the father of her child who wished to be present on the child's lif the journalist and her mother decided to stay in Sedona for good.

tw: death mention, grief
Diego was born and raised in Sedona by a single father after losing his mother a few months after his birth. From a young age, the youngest of the Herrera clan learned two important things: his loyalty laid with his family, and his family's loyalty laid with the family business: The Paloma. In the Hotel, the Herrera family would spend every waken moment together and although in the beginning Diego wasn't particularly invested in the business he knew it was the only way to bond with both his father and his older brother so he'd take every minute and every lesson in the hotel happily, learning the ropes of managing the family business while still trying to figure out what he wanted to do with his life. His father, always a step ahead of his children and eager to connect with them as best he could, begged Diego to go to business school, claiming he could always try something different after graduating. Diego, eager to please his father accepted, moving to Tempe to attend W. P. Carey School of Business. Four years and a degree later, the youngest of the Herrera children returned home ready to take control of his own life and finally do what he wanted in life, only for his father to pass away not even a week after his arrival. In the will, the Herrera patriarch appointed both of his children as new owners of The Paloma to everyone's surprise. Every plan of Diego's was then tarnished as he vowed to not only make his late father proud, but to aid his big brother best he could.
