Listening to Dr. Mick’s playthrough as I’m cleaning my condo and I’m constantly struck by how Imaginary Friend could have been a very good tutorial chapter for the chronological order, but it can’t be because it wasn’t set up that way. As a result, there is still some jumping around timeline-wise within the chronological order and you don’t get the story told the way that it should. And I totally get that they could probably only shift the chapters around in a certain way and not alter them entirely for the new remixed order, but I do think that it does take some of the understanding of what is happening within Jodie’s life out of this playthrough version because of it.
Dr. Mick: Aiden, don’t be a crazy ex-girlfriend, man!
Me: Ah. We’re picking up on the incest vibes early.
Still absolutely astounded by the little motions that Jodie makes throughout the series. Jodie doesn’t just sit on the swing outside, but rocks back and forth and even twists on it while she waits for Aiden to push her. If this was DBH, the character would just wait while statute still. But here? The character has personality and character in their movements.
For all of its faults, so much love was put into Beyond: Two Souls. And the more you look at it, the more you can see that that same love just didn’t exist within DBH, and that makes me sad.
