If you hate rain, think of it this way: The rain is dancing with the ground after a long time away from each other.
Before humans existed, Rain and Earth were lovers. However, Rain and Earth were not allowed to see each other often. Rain understood he would slowly kill Earth is he stayed around too long, for she could only take so much water. So, Rain and Earth decided to go on trips away from each other. When Earth would move away from her older brother, she would become lonely. So Rain’s sister Snow came and visited Earth, bringing her brothers Ice and Sleet, and sometimes, Father Blizzard. Snow would give Earth all the love letters Rain wanted to give her, and Earth, so eager to see Rain, kept the letters and invited Snow tonstay and catch her up on her lover. Once Snow was done telling her story, she would leave and her brother would return. Rain and Earth rekindled their love and danced, the two revitalizing each other. Thus, rain is not something to be hated, but to be appreciated.
I love this so much…. 😍
"Rain and Earth rekindled their love and danced, the two revitalizing each other." Beautiful written piece!

Failing to understand that the special education process sometimes requires that the parent educate the child's special education team about the child's disabilities and needs (the school system may not be willfully refusing to meet the child's needs; they may simply not understand those needs)

Common mistakes parent’s make that undermine their ability to obtain appropriate Special Education Services.

The app-based ride service Uber is settling a disability discrimination suit with an agreement to carry passengers' service animals and fire drivers who refuse.
#uber miserably fails at an attempt to use gaps in #public #transportation #policy to refuse service to blind passengers. According to an #online #news #article written by Bob Egelko, Uber alleged exclaim "as a ride-hailing service that merely connects drivers and passengers, it wasn’t covered by laws that require taxis and other transportation services to carry a passenger’s service animal." Now is this ridiculous or WHAT?! Clearly, #people with #vision impairments need assistance with O&M (Orientation & Mobility) and service #animals does provide such assistance. Apparently, Uber came to their senses when a #sanfrancisco #federal magistrate refuse to dismiss the case and decided to make this thing go-away...which was to settle.

Learn to laugh at this "ish" cuz u gone encounter a whole bunch of these people.
Dear Able Bodied,
Yesterday, on my way to dinner, we crossed paths. Me, you and your 4 year old.
So, the thing everyone knows about kids, is they have no filter. So of course he’s going to yell out ‘Mummy, she has a metal leg!’ at the top of his lungs when he spots me. I really don’t have a problem with this. I get it, I was a kid once too and yelled obnoxious things. Actually, I still do on occasion.
What I want you to understand, is that you don’t have to hush him or try to keep him quiet. It’s not something that I’m embarrassed about, or ashamed about, so why are you? I get that you’re probably uncomfortable with the idea of your kid yelling something that may offend someone else, but why would pointing out the obvious offend me?
I don’t want you to silence your children. I want your child to grow up in a world where disability isn’t something to be discussed behind closed doors. I want your child to grow up and look at someone like me in exactly the same way as they would look at anyone else they crossed paths with.
Please, Able Bodied, unless you think they’re going to say something terrible, or to the wrong person, please don’t feel like them pointing out the disability (that I have taken no pains to hide) is a bad thing.
Parents don't hush your child when they observe visible disability. Awakening story of a person with a metal leg and encounter with a child yelling out it out and parent telling them to be quiet afterwards.
You a wannabe and you playin yourself...stop the madness NOW! YOU are perfectly made lacking nuthin, don’t let nobody tell you different!

Only a week away...
Blogging Against Disablism Day is only a week away today! Have you decided what you’ll be writing about? And please remember to share the news with everyone.
This annual blogging event on ableism is always on May 1st and always attracts blog posts about all kinds of ableism/disablism. How about, ableism in higher education, or in employment, or in tourism and travel? Ableism against autistic people, or blind people, or audism against deaf people? Or disablism against people with PTSD, or people with cerebral palsy, or people with dyslexia? The kind of ableism that can kill, or incite violence, or threaten survival? Or the kind of diablism that seems trivial if you only examine a single act of it, but can feel overwhelming when it keeps chipping away at your self confidence and sense of humanity day after day? What kind of ableism have YOU experience in your daily life? What do YOU think non-disabled and disabled people could or should do to stop it?
