pairing - Glinda Upland x Reader (not romantic really.)
summary - Glinda takes it upon herself to help you study for finals.
Warnings - literally nothing
It was a quiet day at Shiz, people either studying for finals, or locked up in their dorms stressing. The library seemed un-alive but somehow fuller than ever. Your foot tapped against the ground subconsciously as you chewed on the end of your pencil, trying to understand the material in front of you.
Suddenly, you heard a soft humming sound. You couldn’t care enough to turn around and see who it was but you definitely noticed it.
“Loathing, unadulterated loathing..” you heard the person sing, it was a female, that’s for sure. You were startled by the sound of books being loudly dropped onto the table you sat at, you looked over. A blonde met your gaze, her glossed lips curved into a smile as you eyed her up and down with judgment.
“Oops.” She shrugs, quickly sitting down and crossing her legs. You returned your attention back to your notes, scribbling down information you weren’t even sure was correct. You felt a gaze lingering on you, but you didn’t dare look back, you had no time to be distracted.
“You know,” the girl sitting next to you begins, compelling you to look at her. “I’m not too bad at that.” She says, her voice laced with a cockiness that was shielded by kindness.
“Ok, good for you.” You shrug, not seeing her point. Her brows furrow, but she continues.
“I mean, you look…confused, lost.” She says, moving her hand to far away out into the air to exaggerate her point. “Like lost way, way over there.” She smiles.
“Oh, do I?” You smile back, mirroring her tone. She nods, pointing at one of the sentences in your notebook.
“that’s wrong, very wrong.” She pouts for a moment before speaking again. “I can help.” She states confidently. You sighed, not entirely sure how to answer. You did need help, and you definitely were lost “way, way over there.”
“Fine.” You shrug, and she claps her hands together in excitement, all of the other students in the library look at her like she just cast a spell.
“let’s get out of this poor environment.” She scoffs in the most subtle way, waving to the people who still stared at the two of you. You quickly gathered your things and began following her out of the library. She looks over at you, smiling.
“You do know who I am right?” She asks, flipping her hair over her shoulder in a way you’d never seen before.
“No.” You blankly state. You’ve seen her around before, often hanging around that one girl who’s green (you didn’t judge.) You figured she must be popular, but you never bothered talking to her.
“I’m Galinda..with a Ga.” She smiles a little aggressively. How could you not know who she was beyond appearances? That shocked her.
“Ok..I’m (name).” You sighed as the two of you continued walking, it was silent now.
Soon, the two of you reached her dorm, and she unlocked it all giddy. It was pretty, but, blindingly pink. You noticed the other half of the room which was still pink but, a little darker.
“isn’t it beautiful?” She put a hand to her heart, admiring the room she’d seen numerous times now. You nod awkwardly, placing your stuff down somewhere random.
“Let’s start, shall we?” She clasped her hands together with a warm smile.

Hours had gone by since Galinda and yourself started studying, and you had to admit, it wasn’t bad at all. She was actually very smart, not that you doubted it but you figured she was over exaggerating. The two of you smiled, laughed, and enjoyed each other.
“So tell me..why have we never talked before this?” She asks, breaking the laughter both of you shared. You looked at her for a moment, and you couldn’t help but notice the close proximity between the two of you.
“I don’t know..I never thought we’d have anything in common.” You shrug, closing your notebook that was on your lap. “Why have you never talked to me?” You flip the question around. Her smile fades, only for a moment.
“I guess I thought the same.” She admits, her brows furrowing ever so slightly. The two of you eyed one another for a moment, before she spoke up again. “You know, there’s going to be this absolutely terrific ball Friday night to celebrate the end of finals, you should come.” She says.
“Oh..that.” You sighed, already aware of the event. You thought about going but, the people you hung with weren’t going, so what was there for you? “Maybe.” You shrugged, considering the idea.
“Well..it’s late.” You stand up, patting down your uniform and grabbing your things. Galinda looked at you, almost like she was disappointed you were leaving. “Thanks for helping me.” You smile.
“Of course..goodnight.” She waves as you step out of the dorm, disappearing. Galinda just sat there for a few minutes after, looking around, contemplating. She liked you, like genuine, the type of like she felt for Elphaba.
