NARUTO volumes 48 & 49, 5 kage summit arc, although it's still going on in the next issues, there is a lot of content worth discussing in volume 49 alone. since sasuke's become an internarional terrorist, it doesn't make sense for anyone to empathize with him any longer, but naruto still insists on it, and challenges all 5 lands for it. how far would you go for a friend that has befallen to crime?
i feel like kishi could had really used a hiatus any moment there
NARUTO volumes 45, 46, 47 & 48. the naruto vs pain fight wasn't all that interesting, but having naruto learn about the control not to let himself befall to hatred was a good storytelling choice. it was all thanks to a book. what i don't like here is the pacing, and the lack of emotion in nagato's resolution to side with naruto; it doesn't feel anymore... but this is an issue from volumes ago. it also sucks that naruto's victory is followed up straight by in-world political crisis exposition, just like that. i think we could have used a moment to relish in naruto's glory.

NARUTO volume 44, sage art training + sasuke vs killer b, which was much better of a fight than sasuke vs itachi. i'm intrigued by the plot again, which might come from the editors knowing these chapters are gonna sell, since the previous chapters were so relevant ...

NARUTO volumes 41, 42 & 43, tale of jiraya the gallant & fated battle between brothers arcs. these were the turns the story needed. sasuke's pursuit for vengeance elevates the level of the manga, and knowing beforehand that naruto will grow from jiraya's death as well makes it all the more exciting. although it still bothers me that in part i kishi had a better eye for panel flow and intriguing art than he does at this point. does he feel like just drawing little frames is enough for the anime to adapt it? but isn't manga an art of its own, which should take the reader's experience seriously? the page flow should guide the eyes of the reader, the art should emphasize the relevance of the moments in better ways... if working all day for weekly deadlines is too tiring, kishi should had definitely solicitated brander deadlines... the editors should had pinpointed these flaws too and helped him out... i'm just saying this now because i know the art won't improve from here. which is a pity.

ok so a hyperfixation works like this: you get in contact with it once, read about it online, absorb it, then you obsess over a really specific point about it for years, only for 10 years later re-contact it again and realize... it's ok i guess!
NARUTO volumes 38, 39 & 40, itachi's pursuit mission. jugo's debut represents kishimoto's repressed bisexuality, the chapters when sasuke recruits team hebi were avoidable to say the least... i will never call the plot lazy because i know of the effort to keep up with all the deadlines, but NARUTO's become totally uninteresting at this point. i've just never noticed this when first reading this because i was only 16, lol!
NARUTO volumes 35, 36, 37 & 38 ... akatsuki supression mission arc. isn't it creepy that shikamaru accounts himself as a god there for a moment ? but considering that, it's a commentary on religion ... certain ones, anyway ...
spent 2 hours playing pokemon w/ my friends only for the save file to corrupt itself ..... god knows all things and He didn't want me spending my time hurting animals !

at this point one of the things i really want is to be able to learn about, or research, the condictions of production of NARUTO ... japanese critics must have done that already but i don't know how to search it ... idk their language ... it's not a simple google search for me ...
and anyway is it just curiosity or a matter i really want to dive in on ... there's a lot of effort involved! i'm just interested in different narrative structures influenced by different social contexts !
naruto volumes 33, 34 & 35, tenchi bridge arc. sai's an interesting one.
