-Physically Disabled (cripple, spoonie, and chronically ill all work as labels) (POTS, Fibromyalgia, Celiacs, other system specific diagnoses related to those disorders, mobility aid users) and Low Vision (visually impaired is fine, I’m really trying to feel out how I feel about blind)

I feel like starfish are one of those animals that are treated as very “normal” by people but absolutely shouldn’t be. Like they’re a wheel of repeating heads connected by a central stomach. They walk around using thousands of tiny sticky hydraulically powered tentacles. They have an eye on the end of each arm. Instead of having a mouth they just have an opening where their entire stomach can be pushed out to engulf prey. And they’re just allowed to exist like this. It’s not illegal or anything.

Natural disasters! I never see anyone talk about that one and as a result I spent years thinking that watching my hometown get destroyed on the news and subsequently having to uproot my entire life at the age of seven wasn't Real Trauma because there was no Abuser™

Also in a world that is actively denying children the life saving gender affirming care they need, dysphoria and what puberty does to their bodies can be traumatic too. Like even beyond the transphobia and transmisogyny they’re being exposed to, puberty can feel like inevitable slowly building body horror.

I have trauma out the wazoo, including some of the more commonly accepted kind, but puberty was a haunting specter in my life from about 8 until I was solidly in my teens. It didn’t help that puberty was also framed by heteronormativity; it often felt like my body was betraying me specifically because men desired it. Puberty came with sexual harassment and with the implication that I should desire men talking about my body in the ways that they did.

I kept being handed books and educational materials where girls “like me” desperately wanted to “become women”, and that’s what I saw around me too. So not only was body changing in terrifying ways, no one else seemed to feel that way.
