New NJDOT sign manual also fucking sucks
2026 CA-MUTCD
The latest version of the California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices is the biggest disappointment this year, scrubbed away all of the cool signs they had
Weird New York State road sign
Various proposed changes to regulatory signs in the R10 (Traffic signal) series
Proposed new US road signs
I propose two new route marker and several changes to the existing MUTCD section on route markers
The two new route markers I would propose are the PANAM highway marker (M1-11) and the Indian Reservation Route marker (M1-12)
The PANAM highway runs from the tip of Argentina, to Alaska, the PANAM highway is marked in most counties with it, except for the United States. The basic design for Indian Reservation routes is used across the US, but the designs vary, including it into the MUTCD would ensure the sign would be completely uniform across the US
The proposed revision to the MUTCD is as follows:
2D.11 Paragraph 10 states "State Route signs shall be designed by the individual State highway agencies." I would change it to ""State, County, and Indian reservation Route signs shall be designed by the individual state, county or reservation highway agencies." This would allow for counties and Indian Reservations to design their own route markers, like other states do. This would let them express their unique culture, heritage, and identities on their highways
Proposed new US road sign
The proposed new sign R1-11 would be used on trails to indicate who must yield to who
Signs with this meaning are already widely used across the US and Canada
Weird bus stop sign in Burundi

The usage of a red octagon for signs that don't mean stop is a TERRIBLE idea, even if most people don't think its a stop sign, it only takes one idiot to stop and brake check a driver behind them, causing an accident
Proposed replacement of the 'Playground' warning sign (W15-1)
The current warning sign for playground is very lackluster to say the least, not only are se-saws not the main hazard posed by playgrounds—which is children running onto the street—but se-saws have gradually fallen out of fashion, to a point where new drivers may not have even know what one is, or how it relates to a playground
My proposed redesign would not only be more comprehensible to all drivers, but the design would be more legible to older drivers with poor eyesight
Proposed replacement of the 'all way' plaque (R1-4P)
Currently all way stops are signaled with the road sign assembly featuring R1-1 (Stop) above a supplementary plaque 'ALL WAY' plaque (R1-4P)
I propose replacing the 'all way' plaque with a symbolic variant, and introducing 2 more 'all way' plaques for T-junctions (R1-4aP) and Y-junctions (R1-4bP), and additionally reintroducing the R1-3P plaque for intersections with more than 4 legs (E.G. the six way stop on Lomitas Ave. in Beverly Hills, CA)
The following figures show the proposed signs and proposed 'all way stop' assembly
