also please don’t come @ me saying it’s only people who like porn that are mad about the ban (something i keep seeing). it really isn’t about the nsfw. it’s the censorship and the very scary automation of said censorship with a program that clearly doesn’t work. a solution that isn’t working already and literally destroying a very good portion of the user base. between false flagging to erasing entire tags that focused mainly on sexuality, gender, etc to affecting artist’s livelihoods? yeah no this is a lot bigger than ‘just porn’.

i’m sorry if you’re tired of hearing this but this is the sort of thing we can’t just let lie. if we do it’ll happen and the idea of this sort of censorship winning is not a positive step in any direction.

Even if it was just porn, it’d still be bullshit, I should mention.

The porn you find on Tumblr is overwhelmingly created by and for women, PoC and LGBTA+ folks, and it’s a real breath of fresh air compared to the vile, shitty misogynistic garbage you’ll find when you look at “mainstream” porn that’s made by and for cishet white men. The porn culture here is important and it’s fucking horseshit that we’re being told, very explicitly, that our kind aren’t welcome here.

so we have a conversational safeword in my group of friends and it’s great, idk why more people don’t do this. whenever someone wants a subject to be dropped immediately no questions asked we just say “spleen” and we stop immediately and it’s a really good way to avoid crossing the line between teasing friends and genuinely upsetting them by accident, or stopping debates from turning into actual arguments

When I was a little baby high school student, I used to do the Living Chessboard at our local Renaissance Faire. We always used “forsooth” to indicate if someone was actually injured and needed to quickly end a choreographed fight. It was also very useful when doing little street improvisations because if someone tried to stop you, you could say “forsooth good sir, I must leave.” and they knew you couldn’t do a scene right then. We all used it in real life too, to say “no really” and it was amazing because there was a word used in a casual setting that meant “I’m not playing, I need you do listen to me.” So if someone tried to pick me up or tickle me, I could say “forsooth stop.” And I was instantly obeyed. I had “forsooth” long before I learned what a safeword was, and having a non-sexual safeword for everyday use amongst a circle of friends was the best thing ever. It made me feel very safe and listened to, even as a tiny 14 year old. Because let’s be honest, 14 year old me was teeny tiny and adorable and it’s easy to coo at kids when they say “no don’t pick me up!” but to have a word that every single person respected to mean “whatever I say after this MUST be listened to” was amazing. It gave me a definitive voice when it would have been easy to dismiss me.

So basically having platonic safewords is awesome and I’m all for it.

I’ve got a handful of Discord servers that I admin and the social safeword in all of these is “ENOUGH”. If you need the discussion to stop, immediately and for any reason, all you have to say is “ENOUGH”, and we can stop, step it back, talk about what went wrong and avoid causing the same problem again later.

“Enough” is a good word, I find, because it doesn’t mean that you have to stop forever. It’s just that you’ve had enough for now, like when you’ve had enough to eat or watched enough Star Trek, and you need a rest. ( b ._.)b

non-furry art IS NOT banned on furaffinity, in fact there’s a category under the species dropdown for humans, elves, orcs, and more!  you can post whatever you like there as long as it doesn’t involve kids in adult situations.  i’ve seen people posting adult artwork of cars and jets there so uh yeah anything goes on FA lol

other than that, list checks out.  be careful with inkbunny because the guy that runs it is/was a transphobe (i have no idea if he’s changed over the years, this was a few years back but he was pretty insistent about knowing people’s “real genders” and shit)

weasyl is also a pretty decent gallery site that as far as i know is pretty lenient, it’s primarily directed to/by furries but anyone can post artwork there, it’s not just for furs.  it has a built-in feature that lets you crop thumbnails for your uploads which is pretty nice and i believe you can post stories and music there too?  it also has a pretty robust tagging system and allows users to add tags to your submissions in case there’s something you missed.  banned uploads include underage art, seizure-inducing images, and hate speech.  it’s a pretty nice website and could definitely use some love!
