I see you also had the hip joint stressing problem that all the Barzam kits seem to have suffered. Any ideas on how to tidy away the mark?

You'd probably have to paint it. In terms of avoiding the stress mark entirely, I would carve away the tabs on the peg and reinforce it with nail polish or topcoat
