Wow.
I mean it. Wow.
I can not wait for BIG DOIN'S tomorrow night. Can not wait one more minute. But I must! Because I have to. IF I COULD JUST DO IT RIGHT NOW IN MY LIVING ROOM, YOU BET'CHA BUTT I WOULD!
In hyped anticipation for this comedy juggernaut, we are previewing and introducing you to the talent who will be gracing our stage this Wednesday night at Friend's Cafe in Monrovia. One of those acts is comedy's lovable imp, JEFF MACKINNON!
----------
Jeff MacKinnon is a comedian who continually refines the art of stating his opinions as facts. Blending clever wordplay, biting sarcasm, inventive wit, and in-the-zone improv Jeff delivers dynamic and energetic performances to any audience with an attention span. His off-the-cuff style leaves many to wonder what was prepared and what was created on the spot.
For the past six years, he has proven himself to fellow comedians, audience members, and indifferent alcoholics at comedy clubs, bars, VFW’s, coffee shops, college auditoriums and/or cafeterias – even a two-month stint opening for an Illusionist at the Denver Civic Theater in front of crowds aged 4 – 104 years old. He was a finalist in countless subjective contests to determine comedic supremacy - 2004 – 2006 Comedy Works New Talent Search (Denver, Colorado), 2005 Wiseguy’s Rocky Mountain Laugh Off (Salt Lake City, Utah), 2008 Valley of Laughter Festival (Westfield, MA) – as well as the winner of the 2005 Stand-Up Comedy Battles (Denver, CO) and the 2006 Survival of the Wittiest (Westminster, CO).
His fanbase went international when he hosted numerous pop-culture and music-based shows on the 24-hour internet network ManiaTV.com. Hired to provide comedic relief and “edgy” misguided insight to various network shows, Jeff hosted shows as “Weekend Surf” (music-video requests), “Citizen Journalism” (video-blogs), “Wassup” (free-form comedy talk show), and “Wake the Hell Up” (morning talk-show), he moved quickly to show creator with “Loudmouths On Latenight” – their first exclusively political-comedy talk show.
Most recently, he provided comedic commentary for NBC’s The Doctors and Kurt the Cyber-Guy as well as created lasting memories with Drew Carey as a Showcase Showdown “comeback kid” on the The Price Is Right. Off-screen, he’s become a staple at nationally-renowned clubs such as the Ice House, Hollywood Improv, and the Comedy Store. He is also a founding member of Groundlings-bred Hot Ice! Sketch Comedy and the comedy supergroup Ryan James’ Ponies, rapidly growing a fanbase with the groups hysterical performances at the Los Angeles Comedy Festival and theaters around the city.
Fueled by insecurity and plenty of caffeine, Jeff continues to gain attention with the fresh material he consistently delivers from his small body and big mouth. Bringing Jeff to you is a no-brainer! Although, he would appreciate if you brought your brain to the show.
F**K! I can not WAIT for BIG DOIN’S this month! Its going to be EXTREEEEMMMEE!!! So extreme, that for the next few days, we will be previewing the talent who will be appearing on the big show!
One of the comics that will be rip, rock and rolling for you on Wednesday is the beauty that is Joe Welker.
***
Joe Welker is a rising stand-up comedian who performs all over Los Angeles. A transplant from North Carolina, Joe brings earnest intensity and intense earnestry, and like most rock bands, his stand-up comes from failed relationships and a beard that won't quit. At one time pursuing law school, Joe instead opted to come to LA to follow his dreams, a move judged by observers as “inspirational” and "insane”. He is a force of nature to behold; a tornado of definitely something.
DAYUM! BIG DOIN’S is fixin' to get HOT this month! I. MEAN HAWWWT! So for the next few days, we will be previewing the talent who will be appearing on the big show.
One of the top-tier talents performing this Wednesday at Friends Cafe in Monrovia is comedy’s thundercat: Claudia Cogan!
*** Claudia Cogan is a comic on the rise. She's been on Last Comic Standing 7 as a semi-finalist, been nominated three times for an Excellence in Comedy in New York (ECNY) award and won the first ever Time Out New York Joke of the Year nod. Claudia is an alum of UCB Theater improv school and played on several house teams. She has performed at the Bridgetown Comedy Festival and at clubs and colleges around the country.
“Among the funniest women of her generation” - Afterellen.com “Refreshingly hilarious" -Time Out New York Featured in “10 Comics Funny People Find Funny" - New York Magazine "Claudia Cogan won me over immediately with a strong stage presence that drew people in right away. Also – her hair is super shiny." - Punchline Magazine
This months BIG DOIN’S stand up comedy showcase is going to be RIDICULOUS! Absolutely ridiculous. So for the next few days, we will be previewing the talent who will be appearing on the big show.
One of the hilarious acts performing this Wednesday at Friends Cafe in Monrovia is comedy's big softie: JC Currais!
From his big, beautiful mouth: Born and raised in Miami FL. Currais began performing stand up comedy while attending college at The University of Florida. His high energy performance style and outrageously quirky material gained Currais some local notoriety and a number of high profile shows which included opening spots for comedians like Dan Cummings (Comedy Central) and Finesse Mitchell (Saturday Night Live). 2009 marked Currais´s decision to pursue comedy full time. Currais now performs in Comedy Clubs, bars, colleges and other venues across the United States. He has been featured on ABC, FOX, Rooftop Comedy, The Independent Alligator, and Orlando Magazine. He has opened for the likes of Pauly Shore, David Allen Greer, Adam Hunter, Steve Byrne and Ralphie May. His persona is as big as his imagination and you never know where the show will end up when this man-child is the ring master.
THis months BIG DOIN'S show is going to be bonkers. Absolutely bonkers. So for the next few days, we will be previewing the talent who will be appearing on the big show.
One of the awesome acts performing this Wednesday at Friends Cafe in Monrovia is the comedic juggernaut that is: ERIK BARNES!
In his own words: "I'm a dork. A weightlifting, sports-loving, philosophy studying smartaleck that longs to fight a bear when he's sixty dork, but a dork none the less. But I don't care. It's who I am. I also love Jesus. Along with pizza, chocolate, and beer. I moved to L.A. to be a comedian. Go me. I also lift and do cardio for fun. That's me in a nut shell. Contact me if you want to know more. Life Mantra: Strive, Thrive, Survive, and Revive. Also, I write movie reviews at http://filmflimflammery.blogspot.com/
