Not that anyone is waiting with bated breath, but here are my thoughts. I’m not going to reply to any comments. Any hate comments will be deleted. If you can’t deal with that, then don’t bother reading any further. Cool?
Read on.
I went to bed last night feeling anxious and disappointed. Not that Hillary didn’t win. I honestly didn’t think she could win and my support for her was lackluster at best. I was upset at the situation in general. At our two choices.
But here’s the deal: Trump is the President Elect.
The world is not going to end. Change is coming and quite honestly, I think that’s exciting. What happened last night was what this country was founded on. People exercised their right to vote. They raised their voice and the Government had no choice but to listen. If you don’t agree with the outcome, that’s the great thing about America: You can DO SOMETHING about it. You can be active for change. Unfortunately, you can’t do that from your couch or your iPhone. And that’s the problem we’re faced with. Most people want change, they just don’t want to miss The Bachelorette.
Opinion time: There are issues I believe in that have no business being in the hands of the government: Abortion and Gay Marriage. And then there are issues I hope we can find viable solutions to: Immigration and healthcare.
Regardless of how the vote landed, we’re still one people and we’re still better off than a vast majority of the world. We can’t reduce Trump voters to “racist idiots” and we can’t reduce Hillary voters to “elitist pussies.” That’s a shut down of conversation and both are ignorant stances.
So I would say this: Don’t limit your voice to nasty Facebook posts. Don’t crawl into a hole and pout because Hillary didn’t win. Become part of the system and continue to make your voice heard. Go further to stand up for the things you believe in. Volunteer. Support the causes you love. And I mean REALLY support them.
And for God sake, try to listen to what the other side is saying.

To all the women who voted for Trump...
