Photography, as I see it, is many things in addition to an art form. There is, within the lens, the power to instantly provide proof of an event, inform the public of something they may not have been aware of, and show the subject at a different perspective to convey beauty or enforce a new idea about said subject. Thus, I use it frequently to document events or objects that I find interesting or slightly out of place. There are many things that go unnoticed by the average person that could provide an interesting story, at the very least. This project was done with the hope of showing others just what lies at their feet.
My inspiration comes from something that I noticed some time ago, which was the merit of looking down. There are many treasures on the ground ripe for the picking  some to collect, and some simply to look at. However, I have also noticed that an apparent lack of time, knowledge, or both prevents the rest of the public from enjoying the little wonders of the world below their feet. This I found to be a shame, because there are so many stories that can derive from one broken, misplaced, or abandoned object on the ground. Therefore, I took my smartphone, for convenience and lack of a camera, and began taking photographs of these everyday objects that I found out of place or positioned in an interesting fashion. It really is a wonder how some of these things end up where they do. This project of mine provides a close up look at what would otherwise remain unnoticed.
