New wheels: Sansin Pro Am hubs with oil ports, spring clips, precisely ground races, satin anodized finish. Both laced to Ukai 25mm tires with eyelets and double butted spokes.

Hey, check out my new bike y'all. The make is unverified, but it’s entirely Columbus SL, Campagnolo dropouts front and rear (no eyelets), brazed shifter cable guides and brake cable guides, shifter mounts, bottle bosses, Cinelli fork crown and bototm bracket, lugged rear brake bridge, and entirely chromed beneath the paint. Really a gorgeous racing frame.

No Campy components, it’s half Suntour Cyclone and half Suntour Superbe Pro, I mixed components from their top two racing groups (and lightest!) to what I liked aesthetically:

Suntour Cyclone:

-Shifters

-Derailleurs

Suntour Superbe:

-Brakes

-Crankset

-Headset

- Hubs (uncommon high flange variant)

-Seatpost (milled for weight)

Other components:

-Sugino Mighty Competition bottom bracket

-SR Royal Superlight stem

-Nitto Olympiade bars (engraved)

-Primus alloy bottle cage

-Panaracer Pasela tires (28mm, for Philly’s rough streets)

- Suntour Ultra 6 freewheel (13-26)

I’m waiting on the last couple components to come in the mail: pedals (MKS Sylvan road (black cages), Benotto cello bar tape (grey), with matching grey toe straps, and a Primus pump, also grey,)

Spent the day working on these.  Hubs repacked, tires cleaned, rims cleaned, freewheel cleaned and lubed, wheels trued, spokes cleaned and waxed. They roll like buttah now. The freewheel was so dirty I forgot it’s gold and not black, lol.

There’s race bikes with tight geometry and close clearances, and then there’s this one where it’s so tight you have to deflate the tires to get wheels in and short reach brakes need the slots filed shorter. #cycling #vintagecycling
