Joon was one of the first people Adam informed when Liam and Ezra came to him to tell him what was going on. He knew he would stay and fight, as one of the strongest wolves in the pack and Alpha of the wolves it was a given, but it didn't make what he was about to do any easier. He hadn't been away from his mate or pup since the day they came into his life so saying goodbye to them not knowing if he would make it back hurt more than anything. He wasn't naive to think that no one would get hurt and no one would be lost in this fight but he knew from the moment he met Skylar and Ezra that he would defend them against the tyrant they call an ex. But now, the hard part was saying goodbye to the two people who were his life now. Turning to his young mate and son, Joon tried his best to control his emotions and stay strong for both but inside he was dying. "I want you both to be strong for me ok?" He says to them both "I will do everything I can to come back to you but if I don't....I want you to be strong for me. Take care of each other."

Joon closed his eyes for a moment to will away his own tears, he needed to be strong for them, for his pack, for the people counting on him. He wiped Tristan’s tears away and kissed him once more. “I have too much to lose not to.” He says softly.

The words echo in his head as he stool frozen I’m the same spot where he was just holding his son, watching as he shifted and scampered away from them. He knew he didn’t mean the words, that he was scared and lashing out like a typical teenager but it still felt like a knife to the heart and he couldn’t help the tear he had been trying to keep held in from falling down his cheek. He stared at his son, heartbroken because he thought he would never hear those words fall from his lips. Not toward him.
Tristan’s voice broke him out of his trance and he quickly wiped away his tears before his mate could see them. He looks away from Ember and toward his mate. “Tell him I love him no matter what ok?” He says, his voice raspy “That I love you both more than my own life. I know he didn’t mean it but it still hurts so please just tell him that ok? Remember that for yourself as hell. More than my own life.” He says kissing his mate one last time “Take him to Cassie so you guys can get out of here ok? It’s getting a little cramped in here so I need some air.” He says kissing and holding him one last time “I love you so much. Take care of our pup, my mate.” And with that he turned to walk outside to get air and broke into a fit of sobs. That’s when he saw Skylar.
Skylar breathed deeply. He continued to just breath. The panic was threatening to take him over and he couldn’t let it. He knew if he just said the work Eric and Danny would send him to the safe haven with their children. But he couldn’t do that. Not when this was all his fault. All the carnage would be on his head and he was already handling is poorly.
He spotted Joon step outside the shop, looking as white as a ghost. He immediately forgot what he was freaking out about and rushed to his side. “Joon? Are you alright?”
Joon looked back at Skylar, catching his breath as he discreetly wiped away a few stray tears that had fallen once he walked outside. Leave it to Skylar to worry more about him than himself, even in this particular situation. "I don't want to leave my mate or son and Ember didn't want me to stay. He said something I never thought I would hear him say. I know he didn't mean it but it still hurts hearing those words directed at me." He says before looking at Skylar "You know this isn't your fault right? I might not have the emotional bond the others do but I can see it in your eyes. None of this is your fault or even Ezra's. This is all on the asshole coming here, not on either of you."
