Ben Lovett: Composer, Songwriter, Producer
Lakeshore Records adds another Ben Lovett score to its horror soundtrack catalog in the latest: The Wind, the new IFC Midnight horror western in theaters this weekend. We dare you to listen to this score alone in a cabin (or a reasonable facsimile).
The Ritual - Original Motion Picture Soundtrack LP
Death Waltz, in association with Lakeshore Records, is proud to bring you the score to The Ritual. The Ritual is part of the new wave of folk horror films (The VVitch, into darkness as four friends travel to Sweden to go camping and pay tribute to a fallen friend. As they get deeper into the woods they discover strange symbols etched into trees, a gutted Elk and an empty cabin filled with Ritualistic artefacts. Someone (or something) is in the woods watching over their every move and a quiet creeping dread begins to descend on the party eventually giving way to an all out attack on the sense as the film races toward its inevitable climax.
Ben Lovett’s score (featuring woodwind, strings and the occasional synth) captures the mood of the forest perfectly, It is both tribal and haunting. The score runs a range of emotions; One minute it is reflective and relaxed the next sinister and terrifying. Absolutely essential stuff from one of the most exciting composer working today

Ben Lovett Scores Netflix’s THE RITUAL And Lives To Tell About It.
When hiking in the woods with friends, this is the music you may not want to hear.
Ben Lovett has been creating unorthodox genre film scores for indie hits like The Signal (2007) and Synchronicity (2015) since the early 2000s. He’s at it again with a chilling score to the Netflix original film The Ritual (2017).
Ben sat down with Lakeshore Records and offered up a behind-the-scenes glimpse into his process and approach to scoring the film. His insight is a revelation as composers don’t get the opportunity to step in front of the camera very often to explain and discuss their creative process. Not every composer even knows how to do this effectively; however, Lovett takes you step by step into his thought process and the creative weight the film brought to his musical palette.
Directed by David Bruckner, The Ritual debuted on Netflix in the UK and is available for viewing in the United States. Lovett’s score is available on iTunes from Lakeshore Records.
