A friend of mine gave me hand warmers as a Christmas present. The warmers work nicely, but the third and highest setting can be REALLY warm. I call that setting "Extra Crispy".

I had my staples removed from my incision last week. I felt better but, of course, I had to drop my trousers and shorts and raise my shirt for the technician to take out the staples and it stung at times but it was nice to have those staples out

There were a lot of people who were persuading me to undergo a hip joint replacement. They told about their friends who were happy that they underwent the operation; they didn't tell me about the pain and how long the recovery took (at least four weeks).

So, I decided to undergo the hip joint replacement surgery, mainly due to the worsening pain in my right hip. Most of my friends claimed that their friends left the hospital on the same day as the surgery. I was in the hospital, getting painkillers and antibiotics for THREE DAYS.

It's been three weeks since the surgery and I'm getting better. I'm switching from a walker to a cane. The watercolor cartoon is an allegory that I went through with my friends.

I've had eight dogs in my lifetime. Kelly, a border collie mix, is the latest. She's 6 1/2 years old. The end of next September will mark the fifth anniversary of her adoption. Since I turned 70 earlier this month, I believe that she'll be the last dog in my life and that's rather sad.

A friend of mine suggested that I do a drawing/painting of chihuahuas pulling a sled run by a guy wearing a sombrero and a serape. I decided to paint a sled pulled by a variety of little dogs - Pomerainians, Yorkies, corgis, MinPins, and chihuahuas - while a group of huskies, Malamutes, and other sled dogs look in horror and with pity.

For those who don't get it, google USSR Premier Nikita Khrushchev's "We will bury you" speech in 1956. And, no, he wasn't threatening to bomb the USA and its allies...

My grandnephew is a member of a AFJROTC unit in his high school. They launch model rockets.

I did this small watercolor not long after an acquaintance passed away suddenly. As he had some disabilties caused by a stroke when he was 14, I gave him rides to church, luncheons, and local concerts. When I was unable to contact him five days after my last contact with him, I asked the local police to do a “wellness check”. I was stunned when I received a call from a policewoman informing me that this man had “expired” due to what appeared to be “natural causes”. He was 41.

I started this watercolor with only the women in mind. Then I added the “wall of disapproval”. As for that guy behind the women, I’m not sure - an old teacher from high school perhaps?

The CPAP that I received freaks out my dog. I don’t know if it’s the mask or the noise or both.
