THE AMERICAN DREAM
People love the sound of it.
Every young boy(girl?) can grow up one day to be President. A house, wife, husband/partner, 2 kids and a dog. The American dream is what they are told to strive for-not seeing the whites only sign over it. People of color are there merely to serve and prop up as usual.
The Trump base can't say anything concrete that he's done for them except to hate, ridicule and go after the ones they hate and fear so much.
It's tribal really. They will vote by color before what's right or just for fear of losing the only thing the poorest of them has-Power. They may not have much but they have the power of complexion protection in status, interactions with police no matter how violent or guilty they may be. Every time they see a white man commit a crime-even killing a police officer and taken in peacefully-they are emboldened in knowing their place in the world is secure (Roof, Winn). Dylan Roof slaughtered 9 people was taken into custody and given the reward of stopping for a burger before being taken to jail. Now that is some privilege. There's no reason that the average Trump supporter should so rabidly follow and espouse the insane, repetitive ramblings of an ill educated buffoon like Trump. His drug addled speeches revealing what is clearly a not well educated person. He flagrantly dodged service while others took his place not to return. Not satisfied with using his privilege to avoid serving, he ridicules those not wealthy enough to not go even if they had wanted to.
He is the self proclaimed King of Debt, flaunting his many bankruptcies, while his acolytes boast of his business smarts and that in spite of the many failed and fraudulent endeavors -Trump University, steaks, football, charities, hotels, condos-somehow he will still make them rich. Their god lives on credit, having never worked a day in his life while mocking and defrauding those who do. His own words on tape/video from the past and present contradict him.
As farms foreclose, healthcare evaporates, food stamps are taken away, they follow blindly like zombies. Why? Racism. The bedrock of American un-civilization. They showed up from England and Holland on one coast and Spain on the other. Both started with an unabashed orchestrated genocide of Indigenous people which continues to this day, albeit in a different but equally effective form. From Mexico to Canada, 100's of thousands were murdered by the rope, the gun and disease. Useful as slaves to the Spanish but seen as an obstacle to fulfill insatiable greed by the American colonists, Native people known by the misnomer 'Indians' were almost exterminated and at the least forced to live on barren, unproductive lands with no rights. They only gained the right to vote in 1965 with barriers continuing to be put up as recent as 2018.
Starting in 1619 they were joined by the endless stream of slaves brought from Africa to build and serve the 'Land of the Free'. Slaves had monetary value, whereas Indigenous people were in the way of gold (Black Hills), fertile land (Wy, Kansas etc), ranching (Texas, NM). This is just a fraction of the racist history that this equally racist administration would keep from Americans young and old.   Over 25% of American youth don't know about the holocaust.
  Which means that they also don't know that not just 6 million Jews were murdered but also 7+ million others who were considered 'other'- protestants, Roma, disabled, gay, dark haired (presumed Jewish). It also means they don't know how Nazi Germany arrived at that moment of state sanctioned extermination. Look around at the parallels in the past 4 years to 1933 Germany- Leugenpresse/Fake News, the press is the 'enemy of the people', propaganda driven fear of other/Muslim ban, citizens questioning black people in the street/at their own homes, unfettered police brutality towards non whites and the introduction of revisionist history in school similar to Hitler Youth now Trump youth.
When people like Kanye- known in the community as 'hoteps'- say that slavery was a choice and politicians say slavery was necessary and that slaves were fed and given shelter, this is the white washing of history.
America is at the precipice of an autocratic, fascist, theocracy which it has been careening towards since 9/11 and has really picked up speed in the past 5 years. Now the theocracy part is mostly in name only, as the behavior of those in charge is decidedly unchristian. The same ones that scream pro life turn, a blind eye and make excuses for thousands of children being locked in cages, abused, trafficked, disappeared or dumped without adults back across the border. Illegal hysterectomies performed on detainees just like the previous forced sterilization of thousands of Native women. The endless deaths of black men and women at the hands of law enforcement, where the first question is âWhat did they do previously or do they have a record?â
The oligarchs, who are of course conservatives, already control most of the media and most of the government, in ways that the average person isn't even aware. These same people scream, strut and stomp around in their camo gear, playing toy soldier living out their little boy fantasies while waving around assault weapons and thinking they are in control. All the while while refusing to wear a mask even if it's to protect others or using it as an excuse to act out their not so inner racist. Why?
 Because a reality show grifter pulled off the greatest con in US history, succeeding to manipulate his base into what to believe- or not believe what's in front of their own eyes or ears and what to believe.
America needs to break up with itself for the sake of the world and the remnants of decent people. Let the alt right, Q Anon conspiracy All Lives Matter but white is right nuts have their own corner of hell. Whoever slithers into RBG's seat will strike down health care, voting rights, DACA and all who value their own âLife, liberty and the pursuit of happinessâ- unless rich and white then you'll be fine.
