āI wonder if itās like humanly possible to do that Captain America thing where he rips the piece of wood in half by hand,ā Bellamy voices out loud. Heās been getting himself into the superhero stuff more and more. It started out as a way to have things to talk about with Tess but now, itās just kind of like a fun pastime. Plus, it keeps him from having to think too hard about his movie selections when he has the time to watch something because he just goes down the super long superhero list. Two birds with one stone if you ask him.
āIt is. If youāre Captain America. So I guess, not humanly possible,ā Billie grinned. She wasnāt as much of a purist about comics as some of her friends. Although she understood the connection, sheād also seenĀ every mcu movie about a million times.Ā āDid you see the new Avengers trailer dropped?ā
āMy Dadās making sure we get there nice and early for the Market on Saturday morning, as in crack of dawn early. Heās still kind of the new guy in the department so heās trying to make a good impression- which means Iām volunteering too. Iām on the hot drinks stand since apparently, Northlake is lacking qualified baristas with time on their hands,ā she explained with a shrug,Ā āAre you volunteering?ā
āNope. Stuck working Saturday, but Iāll still hang out around the place when I can.ā Normally, Dax was into all that holiday stuff but lately sheād felt like kind of a third wheel, so she wasnāt actually too bummed about not being able to go.Ā āDoes this mean when I see you Iāll be the customer? Role reversal. Let me know if you need to borrow an apron.ā Billie was mostly teasing, but on the other hand, those things were kind of handy.
āSee, thatās the beauty of being a loser. I can be whatever I want and no one gives a shit. Or I can be nothing. I can do stuff like this,ā she teased, leaning forward to press her lips to Jackieās. They lingered for a moment before she pulled away just slightly to look at her,Ā eyes sparking.Ā āOr I can just stay here and notĀ even look at you and treat you like a leper, but whereās the fun in that? Besides. I kind of like that I can hear a smile in your voice when you talk about me.ā She took a moment, just sitting there like she was really, really thinking about it.Ā āNo, I want you to stay. Iām tired of parties.ā Probably why she already gave up on the dares. Definitely not because sheād rather be here.Ā āYeah? You and I should compare notes. I bet I can guess your type.ā Billie nodded, pressing her lips together with a thoughtful smack. And then suddenly herĀ eyes perked up.Ā āReally?ā For some reason she had a different picture of Jackieās family. It was obvious they werenāt happy -- no oneās was, and anyway, Billie was good at detecting bullshit. She knew the difference between simple attention seeking and something darker.Ā āI bet I have you beat. Does yours carry a gun? Mine does. Kind of looks like Pornstache from Orange Is The New Black, to be completely honest. He gets really pissed when I remind him,ā she added, smiling more at her own words than the look on Jackieās face, which was notĀ exactly receptive. But theyād kind of bonded, a little. She wasnāt wild like Dax where sheād take a personās favorite color and run with it, but maybe -- maybe she wasnāt completely hopeless,Ā either. Maybe she was more vulnerable than she pretended to be.
She was also betting Jackie could feel the smile on her lips poking through to the other girlās cupped palm against her mouth. A stifled giggle fled her before Jackie dropped her hand, Billie shooting her an apologetic smile.Ā āShit, youāre right. My bad. Do youĀ even wanna know?ā It was really, really hard not to repeat the nickname.Ā
HerĀ eyes were narrowed when she finally came to, only a slight change from when they were completely barred shut by stars. She shook her head before Jackie couldĀ even ask the question, and like a broken record, her neck just kept swiveling. Total and utter disbelief, that was what it was.Ā āN--ā Her words were cut off by another moan when Jackie moved back to her middle, and she was too flustered to do anything about it, at least for a moment. The recovery period was about five seconds before not Billie but a much stronger, thirstier presence currently controlling her and making much faster decisions for her than actual, shell-shocked, too-gay-to-function Billie was doing, had pushed out a determined breath before cupping Jackieās face and pulling her up to kiss her. Her legs almost ached from the separation, but this was more important. She needed her to be close. Kissing Jackie continuously through leaning up on herĀ elbows and throwing off her henley, she started to tug at Jackieās top, too, but her hands were shaking and it felt incredibly unscripted. She kept flashing between frozen amazement and relentless need. The part of her in the driverās seat was still pushing forward, wrapping her legs around Jackieās sides while she held her hand over the other girlās wrist. Jackieās fingers were still settled where they were a moment ago, and Billie moved to nip herĀ ear before whispering,Ā āRide me.āĀ
āi can sing i just.. donāt in public. i do enough things that can be considered embarrassing myself so i keep the singing, the guitar playing and obvious art nerd in me close to heart and away from the spotlight.ā he mused when flicking a brow up at her.Ā āso true i would also kick me out.ā
āWhatāsĀ embarrassing about it if youāre good?ā She posed.Ā āI feel like we need to go watch High School Musical so you can beĀ enlightened, my dude. Maybe then you can stick around.ā
āMaybe a bitā¦hangry, actually.ā Naomi managed a smile.Ā āJust really stressed about this math test. I donātā¦understand a word of this stuff.ā
āGood thing thereās nothing snacks canāt fix. -- Oof. Donāt know if I could help much, but I can try?ā
āyo!ā the skater walked up behind the other and playfully yet lightly hit them on the legs with his basically empty backpack.Ā āhow about pizza? iām starving and i donāt feel like going on my own. last time i think they wanted to kick me out then again i donāt judge them- i was sitting there drunk and singing to celine dion.ā
āI probably wouldāve kicked you out, too,ā she teased.Ā āAlthough I actually donāt mind the Celine. Then again, Iāve never heard you sing before.ā
āHey, cool reference.ā It mightāve sounded dumb, but Jackie kept surprising her,Ā even when Billie already knew she was the most interesting girl in Northlake.Ā āThen why donāt you?ā UnlikeĀ everythingĀ else she offered, it wasnāt a dare. It was a genuine question, and the way Billie looked at Jackie with that half-placed smile as she asked it gave it away. Then a full on giggleĀ erupted from her, wishing for her sake she found the girl across from her a little less hilarious. Something about knowing they were both a little tipsy made it feelĀ easier to accept, like the world wasnāt going to end if she found her cute instead of obnoxious right now.Ā āCouldnāt agree more. Although I may or may not have sat through La La Land for Emma Stone six or seven times. What? Why not? Look, Iāll go first -- Momās 30, yes 30, as in, she had me when she was my age. Iām the oldest of several siblings. Dad disappeared when I was young, and my step-dadās a step-douche. Your turn.āĀ
At her response, Billie just rolled herĀ eyes.Ā āSeriously, thatās supposed to put me off? My last crush ran a whole two-thousand miles away to Cali to be with her new squeeze. This right here?ā She pointed to her chest.Ā āPure stone. You donāt scare me, Jacqueline.ā Actually, now, she wished she were a little drunker, because that painful pang in her chest was contradicting her words just a bit.Ā
It just so happened that the perfect remedy for rejection mightāve beenĀ exactly this, because she couldnāt remember feeling this good since the first time it clicked for her that this was what it was supposed to feel like. Jackieās tongue pressing into her wasĀ enough to make her hips buck involuntarily and violently, to which Billie thought, great, another method of embarrassing myself and proving I have no chill at all. Or, she wouldāve, if she couldĀ even think straight. As it was, her fingers finally fell from Jackieās hair, not by choice, but because they were trembling. Maybe she was too into it, or maybe it had just been a while. Either way, she couldnāt hold it back anymore. She came around Jackieās tongue, rolling her flushed face in the sheets to try and stifle the chorus of moans spilling from her mouth. She hated to do this -- the awful, porny dialogue that she always thought was so cliche and unrealistic -- after all, who talked like that? She couldnāt imagine using the tone or the inflection; her voice was still soft, perhaps hoarse from overuse. But she couldnāt deny it. It was what she wanted.Ā āPlease donāt stop.ā
āPlease, dude - justā¦leave me alone or get decked.ā She was working on her anger - in the past, she wouldāve just went for the punch. It was sometimes surprising to her, that people still tried. ( maybe they just felt bad, considering the recent turn of events in her family )
Holding up her hands after setting the plate of fries down, she backed away just a step before speaking.Ā āDude, I come in peace. And bearing gifts. Thought you might be hungry.ā
āI mean youāre right, but I was pretty much born fucked, so everything I do now is just me trying to live. Speaking of which, whatās your ring size?ā Billie joked, clearly entertaining herself.Ā āNot a line. A line would be like one of those Ryan Gosling memes.Ā āHey girl, is your name Google, because youāve gotĀ everything Iām searching for.ā Thatās a line. Way better than anything I could come up with.ā She paused.Ā āDo you?ā It wasnāt a joke this time.Ā āBecause you could talk about it if you wanted. The sharing couch is open. I may also know a thing or two.ā Shrugging her shoulders, she shook her head in an almost amused state of disbelief.Ā āWhy? Because youāll turn around and lash out at me when you getĀ embarrassed for slumming it? Not my first rodeo, but Iāll take my chances.ā There was always the possibility of anything she did meeting a horribleĀ end, which happened way more often than she cared to admit. She didnāt keep track of it, because if she did sheād probably lose her mind over it. And she was already ramblingĀ enough. As it was, she just wanted to lose herself for a little. It wasnāt something she did very often. But Jackie was special. So... special... in the way her lips met Billieās thighs, in the way she never left her glance on her for too long, in the way it almost hurt to pretend this was anything other than it was. Because she was so fucking good at it. It wasnāt fair. Dax didnātĀ even want her, and yet, here was Billie, feeling her and kissing her and being touched by her when it was probably just happening because she was there, because she was available, because it was convenient. Nothing felt more dissonant than kissing someone you wanted to kiss and knowing in the back of your head theyād rather be kissing someoneĀ else. Someone not you.Ā
Story of my life.
It wasĀ easier, if not for the pressing physical matter of Jackieās head between her thighs, then for the sheer desperation to stop thinking about it, once her stomach started squeezing the breath out of her andĀ exhaling wasĀ exchanged for moaning she could finally return to the less painful part of her feelings, the ones that were all fuck yes and oh my god as opposed to frowny face pancakes and wanting to both smoke with Dax and beat him up forĀ ever giving Jackie her number. What was she going to do now if Jackie asked for it? The possibility of her being caught off guard and muttering,Ā āSorry, I donāt have a phoneā came to mind and subsequently made her imagined scenario-self cringe. Whether that or the girl lapping her up with unexpected care had made her red -- letās be honest, it was definitely Jackie -- Billie felt like she should hide herĀ excited face with her hands, but she couldnāt physically take them away from Jackieās hair. Something about wanting to be connected to her,Ā even minusculely.Ā āPlease.ā She didnātĀ even know what she was asking for; she just knew she wanted more.Ā
āYou think youāre fucked?ā Billie raised a brow, surprised by this information. Despite her suspicions that Jackie wasnāt all iron and stone, she still saw her as relatively... well. Self-focused.Ā āBecause I think Iād have to fight you on that. At the risk of sounding like a total moron Iāve never liked someone pinning me down as much as I do right now. -- Youāre right.ā The boisterous girl just shrugged, still smiling. At this point it may as well have been a permanent fixture on her face. Like a fairytale character, sheād been cursed -- unlike one, she didnāt mind it at all.Ā āIām not overthinking anything. Iām just being honest. And I honestly think you have a praise kink,ā she giggled, nudging her nose under Jackieās in a moment she thought her sincerity wouldnāt be noticed.Ā āCareful. I might actually get used to you being nice to me.ā Unlikely. But maybe in an alternate universe, Billie felt Jackieās lips on her breastbone and wasnāt completely starstruck by it. Maybe in this mythical timeline, her mouth wouldnāt have hung open like an idiot while warm kisses teased her thighs. Maybe, maybe. It might not have been so bad for her to tangle her fingers in Jackieās hair, ushering her inĀ even closer. It mightāveĀ even been normal -- the way she rolled her head back against a pillow that wasnāt her own, begging for continuity even in the soft wordless depth of her gasps. It mightāve been acceptable instead of sad when her fingers decorated Jackieās jaw gently with a pleading touch. Like it mattered. Like it meant something.
āThe way that says despiteĀ it making no logical sense, I actually like you.ā Inexplicable infatuation wouldāve been a way more accurate phrase, but Billie could never quite get too sentimental without cushioning with some kind of biting defense. Vulnerability really wasnāt her specialty, and it just so happened that the only person whoādĀ ever made her feel this exposed was the one looking across from her.Ā āYou almost soundĀ excited about it.ā That couldāve also just been her projecting, but Billie chose to believe the thing that gave her an addictive rush of warmth. In response to Jackieās posed question, she tilted her head, thinking.Ā āNot necessarily. I could if I thought that would work for you, but as things are I donāt see a reason to course-correct. Do you?ā Billie asked, almost smug. A look that was wiped from her almost immediately after hearing the little murmur dancing from Jackieās mouth. It was so beautiful, so laughably too-good-to-be-true, she couldāve sworn she dreamed it. Maybe it was all a dream. She hadnāt taken the liberty to pinch herself in a good few minutes.Ā āWhatever you want,ā she hummed, almost tooĀ easily. So much so that she couldnāt justify it without quickly leaning to nip Jackieās neck in vicious little bursts, and the moment her hands were free she dimpled her thumbs against the otherās skin tracing under her bra, deliberating, deciding. Then her lips moved down to color the curve in Jackieās chest.Ā
