âReady to get this show on the road?â
âYou chose me because I looked like someone you loved? So am I just some duplicate that you followed hoping Iâd turn out like her, or did you ever even like me?â, she raised both her eyebrows at him, annoyed and hurt. She allowed him to take her fingers, feeling the electricity between them, and remembered all the plans they made. âWaitâŠyou were a vampire when we were together? Why didnât you tell me?â All of a sudden, all the little quirks about him made sense. The constant new clothes, the way he never quite knew what he liked to eat for dinner. She had shrugged them off as normal guy things at the time, but nowâŠâYou lied to me that whole time. I was human - and if you had just explained, you know I would have accepted you for who you were. I hate being lied to.â She dropped her hand from his. âAnd Iâm sure you never expected that I would turn either. Well, I did. Not by choice, but here I am. Same old Lyla, just a little bit improved. Why didnât you turn me yourself?â She asked, annoyed at the thought.Â
Then it hit her. âOhâŠyou didnât want me around you forever. I was temporary. And now youâre stuck with me in your worldâŠor you can turn around and leave at any time. Youâre very good at thatâ, she shrugged.Â
Billy didnât like the tone and so he backed up. He looked her over, she was still so young. Naive to what was to come. The blood lust, the intensified emotions, and the switch to turn them on and off. Learning how to use that was not a walk in the fucking park, that was for sure.
âI did too like you, youâre so quick to think otherwise- thatâs your problem, sweetheart. You jump around place to place without purpose, hoping to find some pot oâ gold at the end of it all. I hate to break it to you, baby, but your luck ran out. The moment you met the darkness. I kept you from this world for a reason, Lyla. And you can thank me later when you find itâs not all itâs cracked up to be. But for now, keep your grudges- itâs better this way. And itâs what you do best. Grudge. Resent. And move on, doll.â
She hadnât expected him to reject her, and her mind snapped back to the anger she had been feeling earlier. An anger that started at the pit of her stomach and crawled up her throat. âYes, I ran from youâ, she hissed. âYou followed me from place to place, like I was something for you to catch. Is that what this is about? Because if it is, I can keep runningâ, she brought her face close to his, so that their lips were almost touching. âIs what what you want, Billy?â she narrowed her eyes and instead of kissing him, pulled her face away.
âThatâs what you want to hear, isnât it? You want me to hate you. Well, I did. Congratulations, kid. You acted crazy, following me from state to state. All because what? You didnât love me. You just admitted you didnât. So what was it, then? I loved you. You destroyed me. And now youâre back - just to leave again.â She was seething, and torn up. He was the reason she was here, and now, a vampire. She blamed him. She hated him, and she wanted him, and he was giving her nothing.
Well, she made a point. Though, he considered it more obsession than love. Obsession of a past lover who ceased to exist, she was the closest he could find, and that was just as wrong of him to do as follow her. âI love the idea of you.â He was honest, but he could feel something under it all. Maybe it was the obsession again.
âI followed you because you look like a girl I loved. But in turn, I got to know you.â He said, and paused. His fingers found hers. They had shared plenty of nights together, talking about their aspirations. Pretending he was human was just another white lie to keep her by his side. Like most relationships, it took its course. âI didnât tell you what I was because I think maybe I felt something. I donât know if it was love, Lyla. I donât want to lie and say it was. But it was something.â
lylawaterman:
Lyla sighed, worrying about what was coming next. She honestly hadnât planned on seeing Billy ever again, but now that everything came back, a million memories flashed before her eyes. Nights out, dancing, candlelit dinners, all the things that she knew he had to really try to do for her to win her over - and yetâŠ.here they were. All of the times he disappeared, the times he came back angry or annoyed made sense suddenly. This was a secret he had kept from her for their entire relationship. She could either be angry about it, and part of her was, but part of her just missed his touch, now that she understood everything.Â
âI didnât choose this. It was never an option for me. I was just trying to get away from everything, and somebody bought me a drink, and the next thing I knew - well, here I am. And you? A lot of things are clicking now, but I feel like you should probably explain tooâ, she smiled warmly and put her arms around his neck, playing with his hair. She had tried hating him for so long, but she gave up. He had come all the way here. She just had to hope he wasnât angry at who she was now. âI think I missed you.â
âShh,â he hushed her. She got like this: talkative. It didnât just occur when she drank, and even so, he was certain with this kind of setting sheâd had a few by now. âYou didnât miss me. You ran from me. Didnât you? Donât lie.â
Billy knew why she ran; the reason being his obsessive behavior after her once they broke up. He wanted to hear it, though.
Wherever Billy was, there was a bit of a hustle going on. That was the name of his game. Didnât matter which field of gambling he put it under, if there were others who wanted to bet money on it, Billy had taken the time to perfect it. âAffirmative, Captain. You want ins?â He asked, and turned to the pool table. âIâll take whateverâs on tap. Never been a picky one, Dante. You know that, mate.â
âI call it platinum. However, grey really suits you. Iâll just have to stick around and see to it you get that full look.â
It wasnât the reaction he was expecting from her. Though, then again, even in his age, she had always been a little unpredictable. âWell, Iâd be lying to say that wasnât part of it, Lyla.â
Billy shrugged when he felt her touch. She had brought out the best and worst in him. The humanity and the insanity. Emotions hadnât been his strong suit, but Lyla had a way of getting under his skin. He never revealed to her the truth of his existence, but now that didnât seem to be a problem. Sheâd met the night on her own. âYou know, I kept this from you for a reason. Did you choose this?â
Leventis. The name, the description, all very familiar. But who was she to ask? âAnd let me ask you this: how much are you willing bargain for that information, love? I know him. I know him real well. You want more information, Iâd like to see something in return.â
âSo youâre sixth sense followed me all the way out here - well, Iâm not leaving. I finally foundâŠa family, kind of. Not like I had anything back home, anyway.  We should at least talk, now that youâre here. What are youâre intentions? Are you staying?âÂ
âI do believe Iâve changed for the wiser. You seemâŠless intimidating than you were before, but maybe thatâs because Iâm not scared anymore. I donât need to run from you, so I wonât be. Thatâs why Iâm still here. But we can always revisit the past as well, if youâd likeâŠ.so, Billy. What would you like?â
Billy took a moment to mull it over. It was clear sheâd know if she thought about it. Heâd only ever wanted her. He came all the way here just to see her again. But it was far more than just a infatuation. It was a crazed obsession. A possession. It wasnât love, but it was deranged. Lyla was not safe with him.Â
âIsnât that obvious?â He asked as he took a step forward. âYou donât have âidiotâ plastered to your forehead. Take a wild guess.â
@marcus-leventis
âIâll have to call you back, blast from the past ân such.â Billy hung up with the crook on the pay phone (because these sorts of calls he didnât like  traced back to any reachable number) and stood there waiting for the familiar brunet to approach.Â
âPicture this,â he said with enthusiasm, dramatics and all. âScene: The year is 1902. Itâs a dark and dreary eve in a little old pub in London. The dark haired beauty exits without a sound. Blondie sits and wonders if what he said was wrong. Smooth narration comes in. Mr. Tall Dark and Handsome has disappeared once again. Any of that ringinâ a bell?â
Then it clicked why he disliked Oz so much, He reminded him of this progeny one of the males he had sired. The other one he killed by his hand. He was going to kill this one but Lucrezia was fairly fond of Billy. Dante did listen to his daughters/progeny sometimes. Though Lucrezia was now dead thanks to his twin brother, but billy was now over a millennia, he could still kill him but he had a feeling one of his other daughters/progeny would protest. When he was being so fucking smug and sarcastic it really got under his fucking skin. âYouâre a smug fucking prick you know that? Why the fuck are you here anyway?â he asked with sheer annoyance.Â
âJust wanted to play a little pool. Donât see the big dealio, Daddio.â He knew that wasnât what Dante was referring to, but he liked to press buttons.Â
âCome on, partake in the hustle. Have a drink. Kick back, relax. Do something cool for a change. If I didnât know any better, Iâd say youâre startinâ to grey. How is that?â
@danterayner
âOh, Iâm listening. Loud and clear.â
âI think I just have a knack for finding what I want most. Call it a sixth sense.â He said, matter of fact. Deep down, he truly believed in it. That sixth sense, that was.Â
âYouâve changed. Iâve changed. The entire world changes over night, Lyla. Itâs just a matter of time before you see that you too, have changed for the wiser. Which is why I believe youâve stayed. Or are you just here to revisit our past a little longer?â
âOh,â she raised her eyebrow at him with a smirk on her face. She rested her hand on his arm, electricity through her fingertips and frowned. âAnd what was I like?âÂ
âBloody hell do you mean what were you like?â
Feeling the sudden pulse of energy between them, Billy had to keep himself contained. As best he could, anyway. âBrilliant. Enthusiastic. Loved to follow your path. No one else could step in the way. I loved that about you.â
Missed him? Sheâd been running away from him, though there was a part of her that might possibly miss him. Sheâd spent so much time running, she forgot what it was like to slow down. âOn a scale of 1 to 10, maybe a 3 - but Iâm flatteredâ, she batted her eyelashes at him.Â
He was literally the only person that could get her defenses down in 3 seconds flat. âYou came all the way here for me?â Why did that seem cute? No, Lyla, itâs stalkerish. No, no, no. But a part of her was saying yes. He seemed different, and she felt different. And now she knew how to handle him. âIâm not afraid of you anymore.â
âOf course you arenât, you fearless little soldier, you. I remember just what you were like, darling.â He said- squinted as he did so.
âOn the contrary, I think you always viewed me as a little girl, somehow. But either way - itâs the past. I literally chose the most remote place in the world, so I am surprised you found me. You had to have some help, and I didnât tell anyone where I am.â Lyla looked Billy up and down before focusing on his face. He hadnât changed at all. Same expressions, same confidence pouring out of him. Still charming. Part of her hated it and a part of herâŠ.âNow that youâre here, did you find what you were looking for?â
âFound it, sweetheart. Iâm looking right at her. Tell me this, did you miss me?â He asked, confidence in his tone. Of course she missed him.
Lyla shrugged her shoulders. She was fighting a million flashbacks of the two of them, forgetting that her new form included heightened, intense, emotions that she previously didnât have. It was new to her, the electricity that danced from her fingers suddenly as she rapped them on the wooden bar. She would never let him know that, of course.Â
âIâm not some little girl anymore. Sit and have a drink, since I know youâre not going to leave. Iâve been fine. And you? How did you find me?â
âThe question more so is how didnât I find you sooner,â he said, looking her over with sophisticated admiration. Their connection ran deeper than face value. They both knew that.Â
âNever said you were a little girl. Never gave me the impression that you were.â
âExcuse me, would you mind helping me for a second?â
âI suppose I could lend a hand.â Billy took a drag of his smoke before turning back to her. âWhat kind of help are you looking for?â
