Oh man, right? Like Elinor would love to give her family everything, but it just… can’t happen. Haha. So she gets to be the one to sit there and stress and say no all the time, who has to deny people presents and be the bad guy. And then everyone gets mad at her and it’s v. frustrating.

An oh yes. I don’t think Elinor would share everything with Bingley. Mostly because I like to have a Elinor with some small semblance of pride in her. I mean, she is a Dashwood to some extent. Plus, I think she’d be embarrassed to admit to much of her struggles. Especially because she knows that Bingley would be the sort of person who would want to help, even though he really can’t. So she wouldn’t want to put him through the struggle of trying to figure out what to do for her.

Though she sincerely always appreciates how Bingley tries to at least lift her spirits. Because sometimes that’s all she really needs. <333

And yes! I think we should be alright! Though are we going to have them just meeting now, then? I suppose that would probably be how it has to go. Unless you think perhaps they have a small acquaintance?

OH MY GOODNESS BUT SERIOUSLY THAT WAS LIKE THE SADDEST THING IN THE WORLD (but also the greatest b/c THAT FRIENDSHIP) and seriously one of the first things I think of when I think of that RP. 

OKAY BUT SERIOUSLY ALL THE ELINOR FEEEEELLLSSS. Like her life right now, man. It's probs the worst of all the heroines right now (except maybe Anne??? Actually Anne's got it the worst LET'S NOT GO THERE). 

AT LEAST BINGLEY IS THERE TO BE HER FRIEND. And he's def more cheerful about it than Brandon, haha. ;D But yeah, I don't think they know each other yet?? Just b/c I don't think that Bingley has been here before, but I do think they'd make fast friends, but Bingley warms up to ppl super fast, especially kinda & friendly people like Elinor. :DD

Anyway, do you want me to start them?? I think we've figured out everything????

Okay, so I think that Bingley would get on pretty well with Marianne?? At least, he would like her. I think he'd totally admire her passion and talent and just love to have her play his piano (please dear god don't let mary bennet play anymore ;DD) 

IDK what she'd think of him, though?? Tbh, I think he's probably only read a handful of things on Marianne's must-read-list and he'd be all about taking her recs, but I don't think he'd ever get around to actually reading them (he'd have every intention of doing so, but he's just so incredibly social he'd much rather chill with peeps than read).

So, their relationship really isn't explored that much in the book, but like you just know that they've been friends in their own right for almost as long as Darcy/Bingley and he just loves her, okay?? B/c she's so sweet and adorable and just alkdjflakdjflaksdjf (also Bingley/Darcy/Georgiana chillin' is like the greatest thing ever BECAUSE YOU KNOW THEY GET DARCY TO SMILE ALL THE TIME AND UGH).

Oh man, let’s not even talk about how I basically headcanon that a Bingley/Elinor/Darcy friendship would literally be the best thing ever. Like they’d all be really good for each other. (Weren’t you in that modern!Austen rp I was in when I wrote that SUPER HEARTBREAKING NARRY where they were all besties? BECAUSE BASICALLY, YES.)

But yeah, I really could foresee these two being rather close. Especially because I think Bingley could make her laugh/smile/be happy, even after her father’s death. Because he is such a happy and considerate and amiable person. And while Elinor has that to a degree with Marianne, I think it’d be a breath of fresh air to be away from her family.

She would appreciate his sweetness, and tbqh, when she’s not stressed out from having to manage her family’s entire livelihood…. Elinor’s actually rather fun. Haha.

OH MY GOODNESS YES I WAS!!! AND IT WAS AT HER FATHER'S FUNERAL AND CAN YOU NOT LAUREN BRING UP THE PAINFUL MEMORIES. 

And don't even get me started on Elinor BC HER LIFE SUCKS SO MUCH and she basically has three children to take care of back at home and is like the only one who stresses at all about where they are going to get the money to pay for x and y and then there's her mom who is like planning all these renovations to the house and Marianne who is like WE CAN TOTALLLLLYY HAVE A HORSE. And Elinor facepalming. ;DD

And while I'm sure Bingley won't know all of her struggles (especially if she still falls for Edward/Lucy tells her about their engagement), I feel like he def realise that she has a lot on her plate and would basically spend all his time trying to cheer her up and ugghhh. Also the Elinor who isn't burdened by everything <333333

Okay, but when Bingley meets the Dashwoods, I feel like he and Elinor will get on pretty well?? Like, he's going to feel so awful for their situation, sure (also I feel like he'll send them something in their time of grief?? IDK what but I'm like 1000% certain it's more than whatever John and Fanny give them ahah), but I also think that he'd really, really like both of the girls and would probably get on best with Elinor?? Also, Bingley's always pretty happy and careful and doesn't like to see other people as anything but and would probably try to cheer her up/make her laugh/smile. BC BINGLEY IS AN ACTUAL SWEETHEART

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO LIZZY I AM NOT OK OVER HERE THIS IS THE OPPOSITE OF OK because Bingley knows all Darcy’s secrets: Bingley keeps Darcy sane. I feel as if they NEED each other just to be balanced, to be right and true and direct and not just go off the deep end. Bingley keeps Darcy from going all James Caldwell and retiring entirely from the public view to haunt Pemberley; Darcy prevents others from taking advantage of Bingley’s compassion. And they keep each other human, imo. Darcy needs someone to reason with him, sometimes, to encourage him. He will ALWAYS be there to guard Bingley’s best interests and his own sense and efficiency keeps Pemberley running smoothly, but I think when it comes to raising a sister, or handling an overbearing aunt, or simply enjoying the Meryton town ball to some measure, Bingley’s the one he looks to, to advise him, to gently prod him in the right direction.

HEADCANON ACCEPTEDDDDDD!!!!!! I LOVE EVERYTHING ABOUT IT!!! Ok, so, timing-wise, do you think they would’ve met before, after, or right around the time that things went south with Wickham? Because I can’t remember if Bingley recognized Wickham by anything other than his name? If he did, and Bingley was there for Darcy at that time, I can definitely see it strengthening their relationship. On the other hand, if they met later, telling him about it definitely would’ve been a great sign of ~trust, etc., since he obv doesn’t throw that knowledge around. Ughhhh, Darcy’d be only happy to help him out, tooooo! Like I can’t even because he wouldn’t judge Bingley, at all (he’d judge his father silently tho tbh), he’d just be all, “This is how it is,” like taking him around the estate, showing him how Pemberley runs, going out to Bingley’s own to take a look I CAN TOTALLY PICTURE THIS LKADSJFKLDJSKLJ Meanwhile, Caroline tries to seduce him…o.0 Hahahha! (All while his aunt wants him for sickly Anne - Darcy’s love life, man.)

I CAN'T HANDLE THEM AT ALL. AND UGH THEY TOTALLY DO BALANCE EACH OTHER LIKE HOW DID THEY GET ON BEFORE??? Bc ugh yes all of that (ALSO SAYING DARCY FROM GOING JAMES CALDWELL OMMGGGGG). Also I feel like Darcy has also saved Charles from making a bad investment (bc people def try to take advantage of Charles all the time, I think. And while I think he can handle himself pretty well, sometimes he really does need someone like Darcy to be like lol no.). And like ALL THE FEELS WITH CHARLES AND DARCY LIKE WALKING/RIDING AROUND PEMBERLEY WITH DARCY BEING ALL ~this is how it's done, yo. 

But YES on the other hand I think that Bingley is probably constantly trying to liven Darcy up and I think they are pretty chill when it's the two of them, like Darcy doesn't have too many friends beyond his small circle and Charles is like ?!?!?!?!?! HOW DO YOU SURVIVE FRIENDS ARE GOOD. And probably also introducing him to people he likes and Darcy is just like BORED. But Charles isn't going to give up and like his life's ambition is for Darcy to actually have a really good time at a ball/assembly/dinner party with people he hasn't met before and like make friends. (Bingley's dreaming tbh but okay)

Hmm, so Georgiana was fifteen or sixteen or so when she went off with Wickham, so that would have been three or four years ago --- and I feel like they've known each other longer than that, so maybe like around the time Darcy's dad died and Wickham went off with his money ?? B/c I do feel like Bingley knows who Wickham is but he's never really met him (also one of the few people who Charles does NOT like and will probably never forgive b/c you do NOT hurt Darcy/touch Georgiana lol NO SHIT JUST GO REAL) So idk how long ago that was, exactly?? But I'm guessing several years and that sounds about right to me.

AHAHA Darcy's love life tho! And I feel like it's gonna suck even worse in this RP b/c I feel like he's definitely like the richest person and there are a lot of shallow girls/parents/people looking to improve their situations who will be all trying to get right on in there and yeahhh. DARCY'S GONNA LOVE THIS TOWN SO MUCH I CAN ALREADY FEEL IT. :D

OMG tho can you just imagine the two of them and how adorable they’d be running around town together???????? I ACTUALLY CANNOT. She’d be soooo starstruck by him, too, because he’s so polite and kind and knowledgeable and she’d basically just be like YOU WOULD MAKE A PERFECT HERO in her silly way. Granted, she’d be a bit disappointed he doesn’t (I’m assuming but maybe he does???) read Ann Radcliffe, though she might try to expand his horizons by recommending it hahaha! She’d also be totes taken in my his sister tbh and just idek, man HAHAHAH

THE MOST ADORABLE LIKE OMMGGG. Like he'd just think she's absolutely adorable and he'd be there to give her pointers about how things are done here and find her naivety kinda  endearing and he'd probably really want to introduce her to Georgiana like I feel like the two of them would be really good friends. 

Also he'd have like no idea what she's talking about, haha. I mean, I think he's probably heard of Ann Radcliffe b/c he talks to so many different kinds of people but he's def not read anything by her, himself (I think he hardly reads much, at all, tbh. And when he does it's probably stuff Darcy recommends, haha. Not that he doesn't enjoy reading, b/c I think he does, but if given the option of staying home with a book or having friends (or heck strangers) for dinner, he's gonna choose the latter, tbh. Really, I think he only ever reads when he and Darcy are together and Darcy is reading/writing, haha. He probably sometimes takes recs from his sister, too, tho. Although, I feel like lately she'd basically tell him to read some book she saw Darcy reading once to impress Darcy, haha). ANYWAY, idk that he'd end up reading it either, but if she did tell him to, he'd probably definitely genuinely plan to but probs never get around to it and if he did I think he'd be like WTF IS THIS. Also, I think it'd totally explain Catherine to him, haha.

And I feel like Caroline and Darcy are both like STOP ENCOURAGING HIM and Charles is like "I'm not -- I'm just being friendly" And they are basically like, "there lies your problem" 

OH MY GOSH OKAY SO HEADCANNON THAT LIKE SOMETHING HAPPENS AT NETHERFIELD AND IT ISN'T READY WHEN THEY COME DOWN AND SO BINGLEY & CO HAVE TO SPEND A NIGHT WITH THE DASHWOODS. Like his letter got lost and they weren't expecting them and Bingley's all no probs we'll stay in town and then they run into John and he's all accepting of the invite and DARCY AND CAROLINE WILL LOVE HIM 5EVER. 

AND THEN ALL THE FANNY/CAROLINE INTERACTIONS while Darcy is like LET ME DIE (I feel like he's feeling this like 24/7 tbh as soon as he arrives ahaha) and Charles being all cheerful and trying to smooth everything over.

Okay, wow, so I think Bingley would think John's nice enough, but a little odd and like he's probably confused by his behavior like half the time tbh, especially if he's all super friendly with him and like dropping his knowledge 24/7 expecting Bingley to take his advice. He'll probably be pretty nice back and would accept all/any invitations from him or whatever, but he would be pretty firm on the "Darcy's the bomb" thing haha. I don't think he could really be bothered by his kids until they were older and I feel like Charles was so lost before Darcy came along and like headcannon that Darcy helped Charles take care of his affairs/basically taught him how to run his estate. And like Charles does know Darcy well enough not to listen to him on everything (otherwise Charles would have zero friends probs ;D) but on the important things Darcy's word is law, man, b/c he's never, ever led Charles astray before and like he's the big brother Charles never had and  DON'T LOOK AT ME I'M HERE SOBBING IN A CORNER.
