Start of winter.
poem by me
Our eyes. I wonder how they both feel. Can one ever know about the other? Do they catch up after a long day? Or do they stay, in pleasant solitude?
They are like us, we can't see what other people see. However, we know they are there, even if it is perfectly silent. Maybe our eyes are waiting, waiting for the other to see them.
Or for the other to cry out in discomfort, "I am so lonesome! please I know you are there, talk to me!" Oh, our eyes. Together yet so apart. Two of the same yet, so different. Never in each other's sight. just in one another's feelings and minds.
What would that be like? Oh, I know. Call it loneliness and we all will know.
“Well I don’t think/that I ever loved you/more/then when you/turned away

J.D. Salinger, The Catcher in the Rye
“he said softly, aloud, “I’ll stay with you until I am dead.”
Ernest Hemingway, The Old Man and the Sea
“[we] couldn’t have talked about those things—at least, not then. So we gave each other our best-loved possessions, and hoped to get them back. When you think of it, that’s not so silly.”
John Irving, A Prayer for Owen Meany
“Once women have shed the conventions of pure femininity that they have been forced to adopt in their appearance, their true humanity, born of pain and humiliation, will emerge.”
Rainer Maria Rilke
“Not only did men leave and children grow up and die, but even the misery didn’t last. One day she wouldn’t even have that. This very grief that had twisted her into a curve on the floor and flayed her would be gone. She would lose that too.”
Sula, Toni Morrison
“Hell ain’t things lasting forever. Hell is change.”
Sula, Toni Morrison
“You knew me and had listened to the things I said in the night, and heard me in the bathroom and laughed at my raggedy girdle and I laughed too because I knew you too, Jude. So how could you leave me when you knew me?”
