Although I feel that $60 is excessive for a video game (bc I just believe that nothing should be priced high enough that anyone cant afford it) I do think that a lot of the Tomodachi Life criticism is due to a lack of creativity. I don't mean this in a rude way, but some people just are not as imaginative, and that's okay! There are other games that tell you exactly what to do and there are always quests of some sort. TL is supposed to be relaxing and not always in your face about being another challenge. And I've also been hearing that there just isn't a lot of "stuff" to give to your residents, but that also is not true! The point of the game is to create your own things to give to them! You are supposed to create! Yes, there are a very limited amount of gifts, but you can spend so much time customizing Miis, clothing, food, other objects, etc. This game has way more than a week's worth of content if you actually exploit all of the mechanics the game has to offer instead of expecting everything to be given to you.
Is it the game of the year? No. But is it a bad game? Also no! Just use that imagination :)
saying "question mark?" and "however comma," out loud are game changers. punctuation on the go. and it's always the funniest thing that anyone around you has ever heard
Dr. Facilier has all the right components to be a Tumblr Sexyman but he’s black so…..
I cannot wait to get all of the medical details from Katya on the next pod ... queen you must rise again we need you
I maintain that the best summation of my feminist beliefs are that men and women are not fundamentally different. There are a few quantifiable differences if you average out every woman and every man, but they are not qualitative. And most of them are socially constructed, and would be fixed if we started treating men and women the same. Neither is inherently smarter, neither is inherently kinder, neither is inherently more stoic or stronger or angrier or softer. Everyone is obsessed with the differences between women and men, with finding them and creating them and distancing themselves from the "other half". It's fucked up
so back when my little brother was in high school, my mom went as a chaperone for their senior year field trip to an amusement park. which, you know, brave move to volunteer to supervise a bunch of high school seniors let loose in a wonderland of rollercoasters and sugar
my brother and his friends in this field trip group were truly great kids. but they were not above run of the mill teenage boy shenanigans. it’s the end of senior year, you and all your buddies are at the amusement park, you’re naturally going to want to act like a complete moron
there was one kid in the group who was especially prone to goofing around. committed to the bit, some may say. my mom knew that if nonsense was going to break out, he’d likely be at the center of it
so she goes up to this kid at the very start of the trip and says “hey, i’m kinda worried about this chaperoning thing. this might be a lot to ask, but can you help me keep an eye on everyone? you wouldn’t have to do anything big, just be an extra set of eyes for me.”
friends, this kid proceeded to run their field trip group like the fucking us marines. everyone is at the meet up spots at the designated time. everyone waits in line for the rides like a bunch of boy scouts. the second the horseplay gets too out of hand, this kid is getting it back under control
it’s incredible how differently people act based on the expectations you set. instead of going to this kid and saying “hey, i know you’re trouble, so i’ve got my eye on you,” my mom went “hey, i know you have influence in your peer group, so i think you can help me.”
treat someone like a problem, they’ll act like a problem. but give people a chance to help, make them feel important, and they usually rise far above the occasion. it was a stroke of genius that i’m honestly still in awe of
knowing how it tends to go with male authors and their wives it was probably marge who wrote the odyssey
A lot of cis people (particularly cis women) and even some trans people use benign "All men bad" rhetoric to slyly be transphobic towards trans men in particular but i dont think the world is ready for this discussion
I am pro-accredited aquariums and zoos. My posts critiquing the animal rights movement are blowing up right now and I just want to come out and say definitively that I appreciate zoos and aquariums allowing the public to view wild animals without potentially disturbing them in their natural habitat or resorting to the illegal exotic pet trade. It is valuable for conservation purposes and many aquariums/zoos take unreleasable wildlife and host breeding programs for endangered species. They are not just institutions for human amusement, they are integral to maintaining public interest and studying the ecology and biology of the animals contained within.
the older i get the more it's terrifying to me how much child surveillance is normalized. scared for your child's mental health? here's more tools that will make them feel even more watched at all times. child is experimenting with their gender identity while away from you? we made it this other adult's job to surveil them for you. kid is "enjoying" their "free time" instead of doing homework? we've put parental controls on the things that they like so that you can monitor their private time. like can we fucking stop
You pull up to the transmasc meetup and it looks like this
fun fact: debates about if being transgender is a choice or not are irrelevant, because the fundamental truth is of bodily autonomy - a right that should never be seen as conditional or requiring a suitable, immutable condition.
people who are trans deserve the right to transition, not because it’s a medical treatment or because dysphoria can be classified as a mental illness but because we’re human beings who should be allowed to do whatever the fuck we want to our own bodies! this is a basic human right!
I’m not Christian, I don’t go to church anymore, and my pastor died, but when he was alive I’d sometimes go to his sermons and I remember one time he said “it feels good to hate, but we know that it isn’t allowed, so when we’re told that we’re allowed to hate someone we get so excited that we forget we’re supposed to love”, and if my humble atheist ass might borrow some church talk I’d like to perhaps submit that
“Oh gosh I think im bleeding through my pants.”

I hate that “chat” now makes people think of chatgpt. no. I’m asking my imaginary greek chorus twitch audience.
