BIOHACKERS: To watch or to skip?

BIOHACKERS is a new German-language series in Netflix that was released 20th Aug 2020, following the recent success of Dark. If you’re into science fiction, suspense, thriller, mystery — Biohackers might be the one you’re looking.

The man responsible for the writing and creating the series is Christian Ditter, who also directed most of the episodes.

Who are the cast?

Leading the cast is Luna Wedler who is our lead protagonist Emma “Mia Akerlund” Engels; a university student who’s hiding a secret in the identity of Mia Akerlund.

The series also stars Jessica Schwarz as what is presented to us as the main antagonist Professor Lorenz and her teaching assistant, a fellow mysterious student Jasper played by Adrian Julius Tillmann. Other cast members included Thomas Prenn as Niklas, Jing Xiang as Chen Lu and Sebastian Jakob Doppelbauer as Ole.

All characters seems to be in the medicine field, except for Lotta played by German actress Caro Cult. Though not into biohacking, Lotta as a character brings a lot of liberal feminist side of the series, if you’ve seen the opening trailer she is seen as a super free and funny girl.

Will there be season 2 or is it in the works?

Because of the pandemic the scheduled release was moved to 20 Aug 2020 from the original date of 30 April 2020, for now only the first season’s six episodes have been uploaded. The production wrapped up filming back in September 2019. No details yet for a 2nd season.
