Caged Bird
Sephora paced around the bird like cage her kidnapper had shoved her in. Frustrated that she did not get a clear look at her assailant. She eventually sat on the bed out of defeat. “What do you want with me?” She asked hoping someone, anyone would hear her.
She scanned the crowd finding her target and reached for her throwing knives only to discover that they weren't there. "Fuck, I guess I have to get up close and personal." She whispered to herself and used her powers so that she match the soldiers in appearance to blend in. ((Won't let me post with thread))
Luckily the soldiers were disorganized a bit, their marching off unison so it was easier to blend in. Still the general was no where to be seen outside. Maybe her next hope would be inside the main barracks where all the officers would be gathering.
He saw her approach after the body kick she delivered. He promptly took a side step before pushing towards her as well, trying to start a grapple. He was gonna try to counter all her takedown arttempts.
After her first takedown attempt was shunted she quickly moved around him avoiding his attempt and made a grab for his legs to pull him down. Using her petite stature to her advantage to take down the taller opponent. “Stronger than you appear.” She huffed as she pushed him towards the ground.
“Well you have decent knowledge of grappling, which is cute” he chuckled as he proceeded into a half guard, grabbing onto her ankles to try to bring her to her knees for some ground work.
She rolled her eyes at his remark. Before trying to wriggle under his half guard to get better position. “Don’t take this the wrong way pretty boy.” She smirked as she reduced the distance between their faces and pressed her lips onto his to try and get his guard down.

She nodded softly before placing her hand softly on Dick’s bicep. “Please whatever plan we come up with do not involve my cousin. You got him out of the league and the last thing he needs is an interaction with them.”
She faced Wally. “If I get out of this Wally I would really like to stay here and be your roommate.”
Dick made a funny face. “I wouldn’t think of it. He’s in Gotham anyway and it would take too long to get him to come here. No, no. Damian won’t know anything. For now,” he promised with an easy smile.
Thought Wally looked surprised. “Wait what? Here? It’s a really small flat and I only have one bedroom. It’s not really..made for two people. Why would you want to live here? With me?” Surely there were better options?
She shook her head. “Where else am I to go? I’m running from the league and when I am free from them I’ll have no place to go.” She stated looking at him. “I’ll sleep on the couch. It would be until I can find a place to stay and a place to work.”
She bit her lip. “Not to mention I don’t feel safe living on my own with my current situation.”

She turned her body locking eyes with Wally. “I’m sorry for making my problem your problem.” She them finally settled her emerald eyes on Dick. “I-I did care for you I promise, but it was my job to distract you and I got too attached. I just wanted to let you know my feelings were not all an act.” She forced a small smile.
Wally placed the plate with sandwiches beside Dick’s but and shooed him off to the couch.
“We’re heroes, here to help. Don’t apologize,” Wally simply said and took a sandwich for himself while Dick sat down beside her.
Dick looked at her, still smiling but it seemed a bit more forced until his shoulders dropped. “That’s…nice to know,” and he meant it. “Thank you.”

“I wouldn’t say I want to get my ass kicked but I would not mind sparring with you” he said approaching the ring. He was taking off his cloak, setting it on the side as he entered the ring. “Get to see something up close now”
She raised her eyebrows at his answer. “So pretty boy fights for himself? Then what the hell do you need me for?” She laughed stretching her arms behind her back. “I can hold back if you want so you don’t get embarrassed in front of your men.” She whispered.
“If i were to fight ever fight myself, there wouldn’t be much of the underworld left” he chuckled cracking his hands. “I need you because I feel it is nice to give people work to do” he said circling the arena with her. “I won’t because it won’t happen” he smirked.
She stopped stretching and stared at him blankly. “Then let’s set the rules pretty boy. No magic, no shadow casting, no turning into a shadow, no transformations, and no illusions or mind tricks.” She studied his movements and adjusting her body so that she could defend his attack.
He snickered a bit at her stipulations to their sparring. “Sounds fair enough, guess you want us to be on even ground?”. He stretched his arms a bit before cracking his knuckles “I’ll try not to hurt you too badly” he grinned. He was quite a capable mix martial artist without his powers.
She circled around the ring with him. “Awww it’s cute that you’re concerned, but I’m a tough girl. Besides who said anything about you winning.” The assassin inched closer to Zhang and locked eyes with him. “Bring it pretty boy.”
Zhang inched closer to the assassin as well, keeping it at barely arm length at first. He tested the range a bit, doing quick jabs just to see flinching and how she would react. He wanted to play it slow, to see how she handled things.
She watched his jabs without a flinch and countered with a leg kick to his body. She waited a few seconds before moving for him trying to take him down to the ground.

She let out a small sigh of relief before sitting across from him. “After being tortured and abused, I’m beginning to see how lucky Damian was to get out and avoid any sort of punishment. The things that the men of the League have done to me…” she trailed off shivering and shaking her head. “Never mind that. I’m just glad my cousin is safe.” She could not bring herself to look Dick in the eyes.
Dick’s smile slowly dropped and he glanced at Wally who came back into the room, sandwiches on a plate.
“Well, Wally and I are going to try and get you out of there too. There’s no use in you staying with the League if you don’t want that to be the case.”

BB walked up to the door and opened it “Hi Seph”
She tilted her head to the side. “Did Batman already send my files?” She asked studying BB from head to toe.
“Yes he did. I’m Beast Boy.” He said smiling at Sephora.
She smiled back at him. “It’s nice to meet you Beast Boy.” She inched closer to get into the building.
He stood aside to let her inside. He was a little suspicious of her though.
She squeezed past him and closing her eyes as the cool air hit her face. “You don’t trust me, why?” She asked as she pivoted to face him.
“I have trust issues with those I don’t know.” He said.
She gently set her hand on his chest over his heart. “Like it or not we’re teammates now, so sooner or later you’re learn to trust me.”
“I’m sure I will.” He said wondering why she had touched him there.
When she withdrew her hand she smiled softly. “Your heart beat is a good tell of what you are thinking and feeling.“
“Ah I see.” He said smiling at her. He let her in.
“Is it just you here right now?” She asked biting her lip.
“No. The others are here.”
She pursed her lips slightly. “What do you do for fun around here?”
“We go swimming, play video games, play sports the usual stuff.”
She sighed. "I’m sure there are other things you could do."

She closed her eyes temporarily. “How is Damian adapting? I was stripped of my title as assassin after I failed to bring him back. Now I’m simply their property, and I can’t resist or say no, but I did and now I’m being hunted.” She bit her lip opening her eyes and hugging her arms around herself.
Dick motioned for her to sit down while he sat down on the coffee table. “Damian is doing fine. We’re still working on some of his..more aggressive behaviors but other than that…he’s a great young boy,” Dick assured her with an easy smile.

Shaking his head, Dick just sort of scoffed. “Not everything can start easy but if Wally believes you on this so will I. And those henchmen out there definitely help your case.”

She nodded. “I love my aunt with all my heart. Auntie Thalia is the greatest she has a son a few years younger than me. He is half human. His dad protects Gotham City at night.” She whispered in a hushed tone. “Auntie T is gorgeous and is fine with killing, but I take after my mother of believing in harming or injuring and not killing.”
Michael blinked. “I can’t say I’ve heard of that city before. But it’s nice that you two seem to get along.” His brow quirked curiously. “What do you and your mother believe in?”
Seph smiled softly shaking her head. “Not at all its painless, it’s more annoying than anything else.” She looked toward the entrance of the cafe. “How curious I would think your dad would show by now. Especially if he dislikes demons as much as you say.”
“He does dislike them,” he confirmed. “But he doesn’t go looking for a fight. He’s smarter than that. … Or he’d rather let a demon go than deal with the paperwork that would come of taking time out of his day to fight a demon…”
She stuck her tongue out. “You all do paper work when you meet with us?” She shook her head. “Still, I’d very much like to meet your dad. I mean I don’t think I’m that bad as a demon. I mean I don’t eat souls like contract demons.”
He chuckled. “We do paperwork when ‘meeting’ with demons takes time away from doing our jobs. We don’t have to fill out a form or anything if we just happen to see you guys or something.” He smiled sheepishly. “I should probably give him a couple days’ warning. Just going up to him is definitely going to provoke him, even if you have good intentions.”
She nodded looking at her phone. “Intriguing, there is a last minute assassination request. Do tell me is a Miranda Earl scheduled to expire today?” She looked at him with determination in her eyes. “I’d place my money on no and I can’t stand it when they pick for random kills as bets to see who can kill the person first.”
Michael blinked before calling his list to hand. “Miranda Earl… I don’t have her on my list, but if Dad’s in the area, she might be on his. But I don’t know for certain. Um.. who’s ‘they’, and… you said they just pick a random person to see who can kill them first? … Just because?” he asked hesitantly.
She nodded her head. “This is why I want out of the league of assassins. They kill for no reason sometimes. They do it just to prove whose stronger. If you help me figure out if she is on your fathers reaping list I can keep the assassins distracted enough so that we can save her life.”
Michael nodded. Wondering how he had never been warned of something like this before. Still, he needed to catch up with his father. “Try not to get too close to Dad, he’ll immediately get defensive.”

Dick smiled brightly at Wally and then at her. “Hey, that’s what we do. Save people, because everyone’s worth saving,” he promised her with a wink.
Wally let go of her and moved to the kitchen.
