REBLOG IF IT'S OKAY FOR ME TO BOTHER YOU IF YOU'RE MY MUTUAL
It has been who knows how long the group had left the silver residence. It hurt Zhang massively for him to end the marriage with his love, but it was necessary as he had no clue when he would be able to return. He did all he could to make him hate him, all he could for his kids to say they never wanted to see him again. It pained him greatly, possibly hurt those he loved more when he said all those words, false in his mind and heart but portrayed as serious. He had never raised his voice before, he had never sounded full of such vitriol but he had to. Honestly, he didn't think he would come back from this assignment, but he did and here he is now. Now the true challenge awaits, possibly more difficult and dangerous than the one he left for.
((First to say: It's been a long time since I heard from you. Welcome back. Hope you been doing alright.))
Misako knew all those years ago or who knows how long, it's been such a long time. She was looking ahead while seeing her siblings and friends happily enjoying a afternoon together. Even with her just resting up. She's grown over the last few years while seeing her sister Tsukiko happily pouring more tea for her. Even seeing her two older kits Rose and Lilly have gotten much more older.
However, she was happy to see her girls grow up after all this time. Even seeing new things happening at the estate silver rose peahen mansion.
"...Trust me, I would have in the beginning. Knowing how angry I was when seeing you in the pictures as a reminder." Misako knew she was furious those passing past months or years. Yet, somehow, she couldn't do it. Even if her little kits wanting her to be happy again.
"I guess both the girls wanted me to not burn the memories we had back then.....before now. So I gave into them knowing how they effect me." she sees Lily look to her worried but she was happy to hear her mom cool off over the passing months. It took a lot of work but she did calm down right after.
She did see the remaining bits of food left on the plate but she sees the food to make Misako hum lightly. "I think this is fine enough for me to eat. If I do feel hungry later I'll get something then. But this should be alright. Though, did you eat enough?" she asked him.
"Because if not, I'm sure Lily can go down and find you something more to eat if you wish."
"Yeah it was plenty enough, I really shouldn't over consume since my body as a whole needs to gradually recover. If I eat more than my body can store and breakdown, it is only gonna cause more issues for me" He replied waving the thought away. "Lily did you also eat yet? I don't want you to worry more about us than you do yourself" he asked looking over to the daughter that was present in the room. "That is something I will also need to catch up on... the girl's new taste and preferences... I highly doubt they still are the kits that wanted overly sweet treats for every meal.." he whispered just barely enough that they could catch the words. "I don't even know if you still have the same tastes either, you did go through some changes so for all I know, what you love to eat isn't the same as you told me when we first started dating"
"That's true. One shouldn't over eat even when their in the healing process. It's always good to take care of yourself slowly and not over do it." She knew that was true given how it happened to her one time and worried her girls. She did hear him speak to Lily who blinks to hear about it.
"No worries father, I will eat when I can." she admits she didn't eat yet but later on this morning Lily will get something from the kitchen downstairs to fill her stomach. Even if she remembers as a little kit she enjoys sweets like her twin sister but she grew up from that.
"I might have some same tastes with a few new ones too. I still enjoy something in the past but I also love something brand new." she thinks about it with Misako smiling to her daughter. She always did love trying new things when growing up. And she still did at her age now.
"Well I will learn what those are, and try my hand at cooking something sometime. Hopefully I don't cause another kitchen fire like I did when the kits were still small" he chuckled. "And Ruby? is there any new tastes should I know about? She isn't in some weird phase where she is trying to eat the hottest or most random stuff right?" He stretches a bit, readjusting his bandages once again, them still being stained with dried blood, thankfully it means his wounds are closing at a good rate. "How have the other residents been? Anything I should be aware of?"
"I'm sure you won't. Give it time and you might guess what it is in the future if you do. Though for new tastes, Lily still is learning new types of things to like when she is hungry though....she will get to that another time. When hearing this, Misako looks to think.
"Lets just the other residence have been okay. Most still living their lives as normal. Yet....they are okay for the most part so nothing troubling.."
"I expect the in-laws are still a bit sore about the rest of my kin leaving alongside with me. They are still back home recovering, physically they are as devastated as I was. Mentally and emotionally, they are not healthy enough to make the trek here to do the same that I did. Probably best they out of all people don't see me or that will open a whole new can of worms and question, may even result in them asking to head to the kingdom to see them themselves" he sighed. "When father is fully healthy, I may spar with Lily and Ruby to see how much growth they have gone through, also might be a good outlet for pent up aggression to be released against me, get rid of lingering anger and resentment".

".....I wanted to as many would say keep you in spirit. I know from the past you would have taught me everything you know. So, I wanted to do my best to learn a lot. Even with my kitsune blood and yours." she smiled looking to him. "I can't wait till we can papa."
Lily relaxed to show the smile upon her face. However, she slightly frowns hearing about her sister. "...She went outside. I was hoping she would come here to check on you and mama but she's still upset. Rose did get some sleep but....she still refuses to see you."
"I still can't fault her for that, even though she never clung to me as you did, she still adored me, so between it feeling like abandonment and seeing what I did to your mother, she must have the resentment scarred in her soul" he sighed. "Does your mother usual sleep this long? I know she used to when we shared a bed but she still usually woke up when I did at this time before going back to sleep" he asked. He reopened the album, pointing to pictures every so often to ask Lily the context and background of various moments captured in them. Any she couldn't remember, he would have to ask Misako when she wakes up. He left some of the breakfast for her, if Lily or Misako wanted to snack without leaving the room.
".....i know it's not your fault for it. Well, maybe in time she will forgive you papa. I know she will.. it's taking time for her to do that." Lily sighed but she looks to her mom to gently see if she was alright. Touching her hand seeing Misako still sleeping.
"Mama had to work on fixing her sleep schedule. It should be fine..unless mama woke up in the middle of the night." she said. In a moment, she carefully saw Misako turn her head a little before she opens her sleepy red apple eyes. She blinks seeing it was morning to close her eyes softly yawning.
"Mama? You okay?" Lily looks to her as Misako slowly sits up stretching slightly.
"..Lily? What are you doing in here?" she asked softly but still felt sleepy.
"I came to check on you and papa. He was awake and you are just waking up." Lily explains as Misako yawns a little with eyes closed away from her daughter.
"Good to see you still sleep in Misako, you always looked so cute when you start drooling" he teased as he looked over to Lily to see if she would react at the jab to her mom. "She was also here explaining to me all these photos I weren't around for, lets me hear of things I missed while they grew up" he added on. "She also came by to bring breakfast in case you slept in so I don't have to go sneaking around the house, probably would be really bad if I got caught back here"
Lily blinks to hear this but she stiffled a giggle, even seeing her mom having a light tint of pink in her cheeks. Her eyes looks to the side pouting with puffy cheeks a bit. "It's not my fault I tend to sleep in. I do when I need to keep up with my sleep.." she quietly muttered this under her breath.
Though, she did see Lily look at her parents with a gentle smile seen on her face. She did miss this sort of moment being cute. Though, she still wished it always happened before that sad day. Misako looks to Zhang and thinks about it.
"Well, I didn't want to miss any memory of the kits when they were growing up..so I couldn't help but take pics. I have a lot more....even if Lily kept the other books safe in her and Rose's room." she explains turning to get out of bed but saw the tray with breakfast.
"Did she now? Thank you sweetie." she said to walk over and pet her head as Lily smiled with eyes closed. "Though that was true. Everyone or if someone else saw you they would have spread the word around of you being here."
"Well I guess it's a start to my goal of starting over and working my way back to prove my commitment to all of you again" he replied, shutting the album he was looking at. "Though I assume you burned any that had me in them? I wouldn't hold it against you as it was probably best to remove all reminders of me" he added. His fingers traced the spine of the next album, feeling the soft leather against his skin. "I left some of the breakfast if you want to snack from the sanctity of your room, though I'm fine finishing it if you planned to get something to your taste from the kitchen. Plus I think I took the best bits already so probably not as appetizing as it once were"

Lily walks over to the table but she was carrying the tray with his breakfast to set it down on the table. "Your welcome father. Me and Rose slept alright too. We didn't have any bad dreams or anything. It did take a while to help Rose fall to sleep after yesterday but she did.." she looks to the other chair and goes to take a seat.
"..i..I figure as much given no one else but Miss Miyuki knows your here. But I know mama wouldn't want you to starve.." she looks to the table yet she felt her ear twitch while still pointing up.
"You did miss a lot..e..even after you left. So much has happened.....but some of the stories are normal and some are sorta upsetting. But Mama always said we still can make happy memories even if some have bad ones.."
He set aside the album to begin eating the breakfast that was brought, eating quietly as to not make a mess or wake up Misako. "Well I hope we can make happy memories now that I am back, once I receive the blessing from you girls" he whispered. "I know I created alot of bad memories but I hoep to make more than triple good memories from now on" he reassured. "The ones I have to prove myself first to is you and your sister, then your mother, then the others" he looked over to his daughter. "I am glad how strong you both have become, soon I won't have to protect and worry anymore"
Lily looks to him eating breakfast but she then looks to the table now relaxing in the warm glow of the sun. It was always a nice feeling to her but she looks to blink hearing this. "I'm sure we will papa. Even if back then you said we were to forget and think of bad memories, I know the good ones will come back as they did." she looks down but her tail was resting around her lap.
"...I know you can. You will be able to prove it. I know you can. I know mother knows you can. Even Rose even if she is still upset I know she cares about you papa." she blinks to hear this.
"We did. We trained with mom to be strong like you and her. I know I learned a bit more of your side and Rose learned more of moms but we are still both your kits learning more about you both."
"It's good you learned more of my side Lily, sometimes you can't rely on using your powers, sometimes being able to use your physical techniques will keep things silent" he smiled. "When I fully heal, I'll spar with you to see where you are with hand to hand" he promised. "You will learn more about me now that I'm back, sometimes that will give you insight what me and your mother had to do growing up" he whispered. He set his glass down as he wiped his mouth of the droplets. "Where did your sister go? I assume she doesn't want to visit but hope she still doesn't sleep in"

She didn't say a word hearing the final words he spoke. Yet, even Misako remains quiet. From all the time back then and now, would those words still show a true meaning to her? In short; they did. This only got her to look quiet as he drifts off to sleep. With a exhale of breath, she closed her eyes to drift off to sleep. Letting her dreams take her away to another new day.
Within the next morning, she still was sleeping given she did wake up twice last night. It was always easy for her to sleep after working on recovering her heart. Now? With him back, it was a little..different. She did go back to sleep knowing morning was coming but she decided to stay asleep a little bit longer. She knew her kits were still asleep in their rooms and others in the estate as well. While some were up but some did see the message on her door and respected the rule of not bother Misako.
He woke up before the others, he slept rather stiffly due to his bandaged body and sore body. With a sigh he knew he couldn't just lay there and throw off his routine, rolling over to get up. He tiptoed to the washroom, adjusting his wraps before rinsing his face. He returned to the corner his mattress was set up and laid back down. With a deep breath he began to do morning stretches and workout. Ignoring the pain racing through him, and the stifling the grunts that came with each wince, he pushed his body. He had to make sure his noises didn't wake her up, nor his extraneous activity caused his wounds to open up or bandages slip. He had to get this done before she woke or else she would throw a fit and lecture him about not overdoing it or resting.
Even from the slight noises, she still remains asleep. Misako tends to take long naps or sleep for a longer period of time. After everything, the others including her daughters had to help her get back to sleeping normally. That is if she tends to stay awake more than she should.
Misako turns slightly in her sleep with some hair covering her face. Light breathing heard from her with the ears flat down. Even making it seem like she was just sleeping away in the clouds in a way.
The others in the building were already doing their normal morning routes today. Even the two kits, Rose and Lily were awake getting ready for the morning. Lily would be sure her sister was awake so they can get ready, eat some breakfast, then check on their mom and father. Of course Rose still is pretty heated being around him. She wouldn't be around him after eating and go do something else to keep herself busy. That leaves Lily to check on them later herself.
He completed a little while afterwards, not as sweaty as he normally would be since he had lower intensity to not overstrain himself. He took one of the spare water bottles he didn't open from last night and sipped quietly. He stared at the sleeping other across the room, remembering all the mornings he used to wake up besides her, looking at peace and relaxed. Those days were gone now, now he couldn't snuggled her like he used to. He moved over to look at the window, staring at the well maintained outside that he used to stroll back in the day, right now he couldn't do that without causing a ruckus by everyone else in the manor. He sat back down in the chair, waiting for Misako to wake up, or for his daughters to come by, there was not much he could do at the moment. His looked around the room, wondering if she had any books or albums from the old days. He assumed she burned any pictures they had together as to forget the past and remove any traces of what they had, though he expected Lily to save and hide them, she was always the more book lover so wouldn't put it against her.
While Misako still sleeps, their was still some books that was kept around. Most either having the family seal on them. Even the photo books that one was holding the more special ones. Even ones that was kept sealed.
At this time, the knock was heard at the door before it opens. "Mommy?" Lily came to check on her parents to see if they were awake but it seems Misako still remains asleep. However, she saw her father.
"Oh father. Your awake, h..how did you sleep?" She walks in and closes the door quietly so she didn't wake her mother, walking into the room while showing some food for him. She had to make a little run to the kitchen to get some breakfast for him. Something like oatmeal, some orange juice, fruit in a bowl, and some milk. She wasn't sure what he was hungry for so it was something in hopes he can eat.
He was looking through one of the photo albums, specifically one that showed pictures of Misako and the girls while he was gone. It was his only way of seeing the growth of his babies while he was gone, them growing up in front of his eyes. He missed so much of their growth these past years, to where they are now. "I slept well Lily, thank you. Did you and your sister sleep well? I hope my reappearance didn't bring back bad dreams" he whispered as to not wake the other up. He pointed towards the other chair on the other side of the side table beside him. "Thank you princess, I wasn't sure when I would be able to eat since I can freely move around the manor at the current moment" he spoke still looking over the pictures. "I missed alot these past couple years, you both have grown up so much since I left, I wish I could hear all the stories I missed. Pictures only show so much of these years, but not everything that has happened"

It was true, the light spark she always remembered did somewhat die down. However, deep deep deep down she felt just a baby one. A weak little baby that did give some brief feeling just for her to look at him. Even with the slight tingle felt from it, she knew that spark was very weak yet upsetting a little. Even when gazing upon him she didn't want to do anything rash.
"....." As she watches him lay on the mattress, she only sighed to look at him. "Even if you say that....even if the spark did die down just heavily after that night...somehow....just a baby one remains." Misako stood up but went to get her Pjs to change for a quick moment. She didn't take long to change in the other room. Back then she would have done that here with him giving he was her husband to sometime joke around and playfully tease him.
Now? It was like she was changing in front of a stranger that sudden returns after that night. In a few more minutes, she returns wearing a shirt and pj pants with her hair down in a pony tail. She walks back over and gets on her bed but looks to sit and lay down seeing the night still going on as normal.
"...........You know? Even through all this time, that small spark is still there. I know others tell me that pain never seems to leave someone but it takes time for one to heal." she lays there looking at him but her eyes just gazes upon him. "I still don't know what you will do. How you will make it up to the girls and me but knowing you, you'll always find a way. Who knows? Even when I gave you half my soul..I take that piece is either gone or it was broken into nothing....feeling half of yourself is..painful to say the least."
Even when looking at him her hair or the front bangs covered her eyes a little. "Even when you left, I just.....I always had a feeling that something will change. That something will come back.....though it's from one's recovery. I hope in the future that recovery will help you Zhang...help both of us when the time comes. Even if you left.." She closes her eyes but said this last bit;
'Deep down through the anger and rage, I still cared about you even if my kitsune soul is broken...I always did. Good night Zhang.'
The words were a whisper but it was loud enough for him to hear before she was get ready to get some sleep.
He listened to her in silence, she atleast deserved to say all that was on her mind in this situation. Her soft spoken words piercing him ever so slightly, reminding him of all that he threw away just cause he wasn't mature enough to let them know the truth. His dark black eyes gazing back at her whilst she spoke about recovering from what was hurt. His body shifting a bit uneasy as he took in all she spoke about. Her last whisper his him harder than the words before, even after all this time with the pain he put her through, she still never stopped caring about him. He really had a tall task ahead of him with this one, how was he even gonna start to repair her broken soul. Tomorrow would be small steps for recovery, that's all he can think about, small goals to build up to larger milestones. 'You know what they say, small sparks and embers can grow into large fires, you should know that better than anyone my flame kitsune' he whispered as he drifted off to slumber as well. The next morning he would wake up early to make sure he would still keep up with his morning stretch routine.
It has been who knows how long the group had left the silver residence. It hurt Zhang massively for him to end the marriage with his love, but it was necessary as he had no clue when he would be able to return.
He had just finished swallowing a small loaf of bread followed by a gulp of water when he saw her walk back in. Setting the plate aside, he scooched over a bit so he wasn't taking so much space on the edge of the bed. He left her generous of space if she wanted to sit on the bed to drink her water bottle, but enough area if she wanted to still be distant from him. "Today must have been tiring for you and the girls as well, even if you are hiding it well" he whispered as he didn't want his voice traveling the silent home.
Seeing the slight movement, she only walks over to take a seat. True, it was unreal almost like this is a dream to her. Seeing the one that used to be with her back once more. Even now, it was nerve wrecking to even say a single word.
Misako takes a seat down but she only looks ahead holding the water bottle in her hand while remaining silent. She did hear his words to sigh. "Seems like it. I was not expecting this to even happen. I honestly don't know if I'm dreaming right now or not.." she whispers back to keep her voice down from waking the others or her twin girls.
"Or is it just because I'm uncertain on how to feel about this.."
"I didn't expect to be back like this either, but I guess we never know what is in store for us" he looked over to her. "I understand if you are uncertain, and I won't push for you to do anything, I don't deserve anything" he confessed. He kept his distance, he didn't deserve to be in arms reach of her, especially after all the pain he put her and the kids through. "I will do my best to change that, in time"
"Guess that makes both of us. Even after I lost myself that one night....I thought I really wouldn't be myself anymore and yet..here I am. I am still shocked you did come back even after all that in the past." She looks down once more and it only looks to make her uncertain.
She stays where she was sitting yet it only looks ahead to keep holding her water bottle. ".......I know. You always did when things get bad. Though with this, I don't know how long that will be. I fear of how the others will be when seeing the rest when the time comes....guess we will see in the future won't we?" she then turns to look at him, her apple red eyes just looking right at him.
"...Or maybe I'm uncertain either......"
He faced her, staring into her apple red eyes, a sight he missed after all this time. He was uncertain about so much at this moment, and he very well knew once the rest of the manor found out he had returned, he was gonna be in massive situation. He reached out to cup her cheek once more, thumb stroking her soft cheek as he had done many times before. He yearned for one thing right now, and he took the emotions to do it whether it was right or wrong, time for it or not. He leaned forward to plant a soft kiss on her lips, just cause he missed the feeling of them after all they been through. He needed to scratch that itch atleast, if not to hold him over until it was fully right to do it between them.
She didn't more nor spoke a single word, just silence to gaze upon the other. Even after so long it didn't seem like it. Seems even now, she was unsure on what to say while feeling the gentle caress of his thumb against her cheek. To the gentle gaze of his eyes. Even now it still feels like a dream.
Misako didn't do anything but she then felt the slight gentle soft kiss upon her lips. Even after a while, the kiss still leaves a slight burn to her. A gentle touch but a burning one. Even for a long time, it still leaves her thinking about it. Or how the others will feel later on in some way. For now, she had no words not right now.
The kiss was brief, no more than a second, but he didn't feel any emotion returned from the other. It was to be expected as he moved off the bed and went to the inflatable mattress to lay down. He still faced her to watch her, staring blankly as his mind wandered as well. Where his heart would normally be stung a bit as it felt cold sensation. "Sorry, I just wanted to see if there was any semblance of sparks left, but guess they burned out to ashes, which is well deserved" he whispered. He wandered back into thought, wondering if the pursuit of a spark would lead to another fire that burned both of them in the end.
