the magnificent bird-of-paradise is a member of the bird-of-paradise family found in new guinea and surrounding islands. they are known primarily for the male’s large displays towards females (the males in this species are polygamous), involving the male’s brightly colored feathers & unusual sickle-shaped tail feathers. they feed primarily on fruits, as well as on small animals. females are much duller in color, mainly brown with an unremarkable tail, but they share the colorful blue legs and feet with the male.
