I’ve decided it’s probably a good idea to make an intro post.

So here goes.

I’d like to add some art to this later but whatever.

Hi, you can call me Arcturus or Bird. I use he/it/they/star pronouns. I’m trans and aroace (along with a bunch of other more specific labels). I’m also disabled. I don’t feel comfortable putting my actual age on the internet but I’m in high school (Also college cause I’m an overachiever so if you see me complaining about college stuff that’s why). I’m an artist and writer. Also a theater kid. And cello player. Be afraid.

This blog is mostly gonna be OC and writing stuff. The main story I’m working on is called The Clockwork King. It’s gonna be a webcomic but it is currently in the planning phase. It’s about a guy named Alistair who had his whole life turned upside down and befriends a group of criminals to take down the government. This group includes: a back-alley mage who doesn’t legally exist, a dead guy who is somehow the most mentally stable of them all, a fairy who is fully ready to murder people and should be feared, and an elf who’s mother is out to get her. The whole thing is a disaster but most/all of the characters are queer and disabled so that’s cool. There’s also arson.

I don’t really have a DNI. Just don’t be an asshole. I’m not afraid to block people.

Tried putting a new character on artfight. Wrote like 300 words of great character description. It deleted everything. So anyway! Alistair gets to go on there tomorrow and I will be sure to write everything down elsewhere and copy it over.

Why do literally ALL of my limbs hurt? What caused this? Why?

For the first time ever, I am horribly disappointed that a college class has no essays. I am devastated.

Sometimes, being a writer means asking yourself things like “would my magical fantasy world have created magical fantasy anti-psychotics?” And, “how would my character with no money and a deep mistrust of doctors acquire said magical fantasy anti-psychotics?”

I somehow ended up with reverse seasonal depression. Winter is fine but as soon as summer rolls around it’s like someone hit the self destruct button in my brain.

Finally decided to listen to The Magnus Archives. I’ve made it to episode three and it’s pretty good so far. I did then have to explain to my mom why I was walking around the house saying “can I have a cigarette?” In a British accent. I’m hoping to finish listening to the whole thing by the end of the summer.

It’s pride month! This month I wanted to draw all of my characters wearing outfits inspired by their pride flags. First up is Ryan because why not.

Anyway. You should perhaps badly summarize the Clockwork King (like a really dumb sentence or so summary) and/or give some info on the main characters.

Okay! Hi! Really terrible TCK summary!

A group of wanted criminals with more mental illnesses than brain cells adopt a very confused demon and decide that this is the perfect time to overthrow the government.

And character information because I love talking about them. (All of this is also chaotic and terrible because it’s more fun like that)

Alistair: Actually the least likely to kill you. Probably multiple people but he’s become the face of a revolution and doesn’t have time for that right now. Still kinda in love with the person who tried to kill him and is now hunting him across the city. Totally isn’t traumatized or anything. Has at least four life changing revelations in the span of about three months.

Elis: Wanted for arson. If it isn’t on fire it will be. Might be a ghost possessing a robot body. The emotional regulation of the group. Hasn’t killed anyone but is willing to try. Thinks he’s good at pretending to be human. Orange cat. Won a game of “who can stay on the train tracks the longest” and traumatized a bunch of children in the process.

Finn: He isn’t dead yet. Does experimental magic and is fully responsible for like half of his children being alive. Summoned a demon just to see if he could. Learned necromancy for the same reason. Claims he’s human, everyone else has decided to ignore the glowing eyes. Either a Responsible Adult or forgets to eat for three days.

Ryan: Kills people for both revenge and fun. Four and a half feet of anger and mischief. Single dad who works three jobs. Has been to prison, surprisingly not for murder. Proves that fairies are the most violent of all magical creatures. Can turn into a weasel but doesn’t like to. I associate zem with canaries for NO REASON AT ALL.

Zoe: Only person to start the story without a criminal record. Very rich. She might not seem to have much personality but that’s for a reason. Seems nice and sweet, will grow a plant through your body. Possibly the only cis main character. Goes through a big self discovery arc, discovers that laws are optional if you can run fast enough.

Yeah. They’re all a mess but that makes them fun. I really need to finish the first draft of the script so I can maybe start making the actual comic. I have the first chapter fully planned out by now but everything after that is a bunch of half forgotten ideas and random sticky notes.

Really funny that only one day into summer break my brain switched my sleep schedule to five in the morning until one in the afternoon. Like, my brain heard it was summertime and now I can’t sleep before four am.

Just wrote 2,000 words of backstory and planning for a fan fiction I’m working on. 2,000 words. In like maybe two hours. Where is that productivity when I’m trying to work on TCK? What the heck.

Well now I have to play a game called “locking the fuck in because I have my final project for physics due in a little over fifteen hours and I haven’t started. Also I would like to finish in time to sleep tonight.” Hahaha. Good times!
