hi! it’s been a million years since i posted on this blog.
i’ve recently been thinking about expanding my knowledge of kitchen witchcraft a bit and was wondering if anybody had book recommendations or anything to keep in mind?
I feel like I just did this one recently. There are plenty of books out there, but I'd probably start with Arin Murphy Hiscock for an overall view point.
The House Witch: Your Complete Guide to Creating a Magical Space with Rituals and Spells for Hearth and Home - Arin Murphy Hiscock
Then perhaps
Skye Alexander - The Kitchen Witch: Your Complete Guide to Creating a Magical Kitchen with Natural Ingredients, Sacred Rituals, and Spellwork (House Witchcraft, Magic, & Spells Series)
A Kitchen Witch's Cookbook - Patricia Telesco. Telesco has been around forever which may be why I keep getting a 70s vibe from this one.
Now highly recommended but a bit pricey is Karen Ainsworth course on Kitchen Witchery. It's online (Karen lives in England) but gives everyone a chance to break away from books and social media and get hands on into their witchcraft. The course is only offered every couple of years or so but a new session starts in May.
9-month online course with High Priestess Karen Ainsworth starting May 2024 • $195 class fee online registration form Due to the amazing suc
omg!!!! thank you so much!!!

i’ve recently been thinking about expanding my knowledge of kitchen witchcraft a bit and was wondering if anybody had book recommendations or anything to keep in mind?
So I'm a novice and I've been researching on and off for a while because I have ADHD and studying isn't my strong suit unless I hyperfixate. Do you have any ideas or methods that would help with burnout?
Whaaaat? You come to ME? I’m honored.
1. Start small. I started with a deck of tarot cards and learning my birth chart.
2. I’m not an expert, learn however fits for you. Videos help me, sometimes starting on YouTube can lead to reading.
3. Simple rituals are great!
4. I have a Pinterest board if you need it :)
I’ve been practicing witchcraft for a month, here’s what I have to say:
-Your craft/practice is poetry. It is art. Do what feels right in the moment.
-After a while, you’ll treat yourself better.
-Not everything is a sign. But when signs do come, you’ll know.
-If you do a daily Tarot pull, do it at night!
For the tarot card at night I will say that it depends on the person! If you’re a cup half full kinda person then nightly pulls work wonders. However, a glass half empty kinda people will pull negative cards and you can use crystals or colors or different intentions to hold onto to make yourself watch out for those negative aspects! As someone who’s done both I prefer morning because when I do find myself getting overwhelmed or find some negative aspects I ground myself or pay attention to what the card is warning me about. For example, if it’s warning me about poor financial choices and I was going to buy something for more than I probably can afford, I’ll wait a day and ponder why (if it can be helped of course).
Another great point!
My period, Mercury retrograde and an eclipse all within a 2 day period. I’ve decided to stay indoors all day.

Bay leaves
Bay leaves, which are the leaves of the bay laurel tree (Laurus nobilis), have been used for various metaphysical purposes in different cultures and belief systems. Here are some examples:
Divination: Bay leaves have been used for divination or fortune-telling purposes. One common practice is to write a wish or a question on a bay leaf, and then burn it while focusing on the intention. It is believed that the smoke carries the wish or question to the divine or higher realms, and the ashes can be used to interpret the answer or outcome.
Protection: Bay leaves are often used in spiritual or metaphysical practices for protection. Some believe that placing bay leaves in the corners of a room, carrying them in a bag/wallet, or wearing them as an amulet can protect against negative energies, evil spirits, or hexes.
Purification: Bay leaves are believed to have purifying properties and can be used to cleanse and purify spaces, objects, or individuals. Burning bay leaves as incense or smudging with bay leaves is thought to help clear away negative energies, purify the aura, and create a sacred space.
Enhancing Intuition & Psychic Abilities: Bay leaves are sometimes used in rituals or practices aimed at enhancing intuition, psychic abilities, or spiritual insight. Some believe that placing bay leaves under the pillow, using them in dream pillows, or consuming them in teas can help stimulate intuition, enhance psychic abilities, or promote lucid dreaming.
Attracting Prosperity & Abundance: Bay leaves are sometimes used in spells or rituals to attract prosperity and abundance. Some believe that placing bay leaves in a wallet, purse, or cash register can help attract financial success, while others use bay leaves in abundance spells or charms to manifest wealth and abundance in their lives.
Love & Romance: Bay leaves are also sometimes used in spells or rituals related to love and romance. Some believe that writing a love wish or intention on a bay leaf and then burying it in the ground can help attract a romantic partner or enhance an existing relationship.

Ways To Purify/Mantain Your Energy
Disclaimer: I am a NEW witch. These are just ✨ideas✨ that I’ve tested.
1. Eat. Food has energy, energy helps when you’re sitting down to do divination or you’re working on some ✨spells✨. The first time I ever did a ritual I ate a bowl of Top Ramen before and after. It’s a comfort food that brings me joy and peace. Get that Latte, Frappe, or whatever you so please. As long as it brings you joy, it’ll bring you energy!
2. 🎶Music🎵
Make that Fleetwood Mac playlist. Put on your favorite album. Whatever gets your head bobbing and your foot tapping. It brings you into the moment and it feels awesome. I wear my noise cancelling headphones while I’m doing spell work because it helps me eliminate outside distraction. Bonus points if you make different playlists for different intentions.
3. Unplugging
Use as very little technology as you possibly can. I do not put electronics on my altar. Turning off your wifi (while also downloading some music) can be so freeing. When you turn on airplane mode, you disconnect from the overload of energy from your phone and the internet.
Additional
Specific foods has particular energies, eat them onion rings, some garlic, eat stuff with a good content of iron - good for cleansing the energy.
Breathing, take some time to focus on your breathing, getting the stale air out. It also just helps in focusing the mind when you're stressed. It also releases the old energy and replaces it with new energy.
Add salt to your bath
Add salt to your food, especially blessed salt.
Prayer, mantras, meditation and the like are said to restore Jing energy.
A warm bath, double points if your soap and items have specific ingredients with an intent (like lavender for light cleansing, what about that sea themed bath bomb, the sea has salt and is cleansing and it can help you strengthen the element of water for connecting to your emotions. Oh, even better - it makes the bath water a light blue, blue is associated with emotional healing and peace)
Brushing your hair, I've used this in healing rituals a few times.
Morning cup of tea - some teas have herbs which have spiritual properties associated with cleansing, see chamomile. It also tastes like what sunlight feels like to me.
Dancing and reckless fuckery - release energetic issues by way of shaking it off, strengthens flow of energy through body.
Cut your hair, even if it is a little snip of the dead ends, just does a lot.
