NYUâs campus feels much like the city itself-- nearly lost among the hustle of civilians, the towering buildings. Itâs unimpressive, though she supposes sheâs grateful for its banality, unsure if she can tolerate the âlocaleâ of an exclusively academic setting.
( briefly, she wonders what it might have been like, if sheâd had a normal life, living like this-- what would she have gone on to do? who would she have been? would the pointlessness of this somehow make sense, feel right?
she dismisses it just as quickly. )
She didnât come here to people watch or ponder lifeâs alternate paths.
She came here with a goal in mind.
At the beckon to enter, Sin steps into the study-- nothing too extravagant, but impressive nonetheless.
âThank you for taking time out of your day to meet with me, Professor.â Her smile is polite, amicable; it hides the rush of smug glee she gets from fact that she knows who he is. âIâm sure youâre a busy man.â
mysteriomanifestoâ:
âFirst my armâs too high, now itâs too low. Make up your damn mindâŚâ Frustration sets in, steely eyes narrowing as Quentin takes in Sinâs increasing amount of negative feedback, his lip curling upwards in scorn. Theyâve been at this for what feels like hours ( in reality it was most likely verging on one, at the most ), the man feeling entirely uncomfortable with the whole situation - being in sportswear while with her only exacerbates matters, having grown accustomed to a certain degree of distanced professionalism.
Itâs easier for the developer to lash out at others as opposed to accepting well-intentioned criticism to build upon ( to note that he is, in fact, the problem ), his repeated attempts of doing things his way concluding in a number of points of failure ( as if his disgraceful performance with the Devil of Hellâs Kitchen hadnât been enough ). Concentration edges over his visage as a concerted effort is made to actually listen for once, running through the advice while visualising some of the offensive and defensive movements alike. Raising the appendage in question to the appropriate height, Beck looks towards the redhead for guidance, his voice drawing low. âLike this?â
Sin allows herself to take amusement from Quentinâs frustration instead of letting it grate her nerves (the natural, instinctive reaction against his behavior). Better to let him vent and complain than constantly justify practical self-defense methods. As the minutes have passed slowly towards an hour, itâs become more and more tempting to remind him that sheâs going easy on him, that he ought to be grateful for that.
Sheâd never had such leniency-- a fact that makes it difficult to draw the lines between whatâs easy, normal, and useless.
âYes, like that. Good--â she adds, because praise for even small achievements is a thing sheâs learned he apparently requires to function as a human being.
( she wonders how heâs gone through life like that, dodging and denying criticism and chasing only acclaim and approval )
Sin isnât blind to his discomfort or misgivings with their present situation, a far cry from meeting in private, high-end art galleries. Frankly, she thinks he needs to get over it, failing to see how itâs that big of a deal. She feels more at home here, like this, than wrapped in finery, playing pretend at something sheâs not. Her reasonings arenât his business (just as his arenât hers), but sheâs never quite been able to shake the tar-like sensation in her head whenever circumstances dictate she assume the role of anything even resembling the person Pierce and S.H.I.E.L.D. had forced her to be for so many years.Â
This?Â
Catharsis.
âNow--â Sin adjusts her stance, a mirror image of his own. âTry to hit me.â
âToo bad for you then, Sin⌠that Iâm way past stupid from what you people have done to me.â
Captain America v5 #40
I am in love with getting my way. Nothing feels better.
Nobody Move, Nobody Gets Hurt (whereâs the fun in that?)
imperfectsoldierâ:
Steve gives a stiff nod, watching the guards remove the fallen agent in his peripheral vision. Walking out the door, heâs calmer than he expects to be. Of course he feels anger, and guilt, but heâs not terribly worried. It was known where he was headed, who and what he was after. It was supposed to be a simple reconnaissance mission, but it would be easy enough to figure out what happened.
Again, he would already be dead if thatâs what they wanted. Well, he was sure they wanted him dead. It was just a matter of when. What they wanted him for, or from him, before then. They probably wanted to make a spectacle of itâŚ
She feels a slight flicker of relief or gratitude when he finally starts walking; it would be a shame to end this so quickly.
Heâs quiet as they leave the warehouse floor and her men behind. She doesnât mind, inherently, other than that it indicates heâs likely thinking. She lets him, for a few moments, as they walk down the narrow, darkened hallway.
âI guess you did come alone,â she muses after a moment. Thatâs curious, because it means thereâs only a select circle of people he wants involved in this-- a select circle of people he trusts; heâs not here on Avengers business, and she knows that despite the agents that accompanied him, thereâs no official sanction from S.H.I.E.L.D. for this operation (a problem, perhaps). Sin has good enough intel to make assumptions on just who is within that circle (Wilson, possibly Romanoff-- issues to be addressed), but she knows it starts and ends with Barnes. âI shouldnât be surprised, I suppose, what with your history of believing yourself to be a one man army-- though thereâs truth to that, too, to be fair.... Iâve seen the footage.... Itâs just--â she sighs, like sheâs beleaguered by the mere notion â--given your old war buddyâs vain, haphazard predilection to lay waste to our operations, Iâd expect him to tag along. What--? is he too busy running away from S.H.I.E.L.D.?â
mysteriomanifestoâ:
Beckâs irate demeanour sees him temporarily lost in thought, eyes peering into space and darting from side-to-side as he relives a few of the moments of the altercation ( perhaps his tech could help to ease the trauma ). Inadvertently clenching his fist at a particular point due to muscle memory, a sharp hiss is elicited - a grimace forms from the undesirable combination of the pain and inwardly aimed suggestion, concentration enacted to settle his nerves and focus back on Sinâs motions. The womanâs violent proposal sees the engineer grow incredibly still, a brief crease of his brow denoting that thereâs a very short segue in which he contemplates it in visceral detailâŚ
âIââ ( âcanât kill a man ) ââŚthink that would be the easy way out. Why end a manâs life when you can watch his world spiral and crumble around him? Reputation is important, sure, but the psychological toll is longer lasting. I can be incredibly patient, I am not above playing a longer term game.â Quentin opts to posture despite his sorry state, the overwhelming evidence of the injuries to his wrist and temple not deterring the man as his chin raises slightly in defiance to feign whatever little shred of dignity he had remaining ( not much ). Sensing the contact from Sin against his index finger, the engineer wiggles his digits with a nod, testing her handiwork with a concluding hum of approval before continuing with his unique train of thought.
âBesides, something tells me that Murdock and I are not entirely through considering Iâm about to end this manâs whole career.â Thereâs an expectant pause as excitable blue eyes are trained on the woman, silencing ensuing as Beck awaits a humoured reaction - the need to explain himself rapidly arises such is his constant need for praise. âItâs⌠itâs a meme. What do you do online, anyway?â
As Quentin details his reasoning for not having Murdock killed, she thinks it sounds more and more like an excuse than an actual reason. Still-- she decides not to push the subject (thereâs a train of logic to it, at least).
   âWell, I admire your patience.â
Sin inspects her hands a moment, thoughts delving into Norah Wintersâ death a few years back-- the last time sheâd really gotten involved in matters with a hands-on approach. Much of her time since has felt like playing a game, one sheâs both enjoyed and despised. She wonders if vengeance will win out over patience, for either of them.
âI know what a meme is.â She doesnât roll her eyes, but they widen slightly-- as if emphasizing the word, like the word itself is more ridiculous than the idea of her not knowing what heâs talking about. Sin looks up from her hands. âAs for what I âdoâ-- I keep up with national and international news-- WHiH, CNN, Fox, Al Jazeera, BBC.â She shrugs; the list could go on. âI find it important to stay informed. If not that-- scientific articles are interesting enough.â
She stands with a stretch, rolling her neck side to side to ease the any lingering tensions within the muscles there. Her gaze shifts from about the room - the contents of cabinets rummaged through scattered about, taking mental notes on what she needs to send someone out on a supply run for - to glance down at Quentin.
âI meant what I said-- let me know if you want a doctor to properly cast that.â A beat of silence, considering. âOr if you want a lesson in avoiding a repeat of this.â
If I were to meet someone just like me, I would avoid them at all costs.

Evan Rachel Wood in Into The Forest
mysteriomanifestoâ:
A hushed grunt emerges from Quentin as Sin applied the finishing touches, brow furrowing a fraction as a means of testing the sutures, as if the slight movement would somehow elicit them to unceremoniously unravel ( what had he been expecting? ). The area remains tender and while it was tempting for dexterous fingertips to tentatively pry, the engineer reconsiders, opting to leave the afflicted flesh alone for the time-being - there would be plenty of time for him to inspect it when solely within his own company.
A foreboding sensation threatens to broil within the pit of his stomach as the woman appears to meander away, behaviour thatâs non-committal and signalling that this was the end of any aid that she was willing to provide ( itâs beneath him to beg ). Beck edges forwarded in the seat, a dull albeit heightening ache cloying at his ribs, bare skin helplessly clutched at in an attempt to ease the sensation of the additional injury. Heâs attempting to gather the resolve to stand again, bracing himself with a few deepened breaths whenâ she returns, tense shoulders momentarily relaxing as the brunet curiously watches the woman and her subsequent motions, attentively listening as rapidly rising relief sets in. âOff the record, sureâŚâ
The notion of a broken wrist healing incorrectly perturbs the man far more than the deepened gash to his temple, steely eyes worriedly flicking down to the appendage as if to assess it despite a distinct lack of anatomical knowledge. He desperately needed his hands, copious hours of his daily routine spent at terminals to code and review digital schematics - the developer was not prepared to allow for a setback at this stage of his plan otherwise there would be hell to pay for those unfortunately around him. Quentin would be willing to do anything to ensure a proper recovery, obediently supporting the arm as a disgruntled huff is expelled with the question. âMurdock used a billy club.â Scorn edges over Beckâs features, jaw clenching as irony sets in. âHe disguises his weapon as a cane. A fucking prop.â
Sin supposes itâs a clever ruse, feigning blindness to mask ones abilities-- especially in Murdockâs line of work. No matter how close his actions overlapped his court cases, who would suspect the blind man?
( thereâs an arrogance to it she can appreciate-- a flaw )
Still, as she wraps the splint, a thought creases her brow that she canât help but voice--
âWhy not just have him killed? You know who he is-- it would be easy. Sure, thereâs artistry and satisfaction in ruining his life and public image, but at the end of the day....âÂ
Sin shrugs, taking a moment to inspect her handiwork as the prospect of Murdockâs death (or lack thereof) lingers between them. Sheâd felt the same permeating sense of whatâs the point in regards to Opheliaâs methods with Barnes, having been (begrudgingly) tolerant of inaction, with a result that hadnât been worth the vague I warned you smugness that the end result produced-- playing the long game more of thorn in their side than any true benefit. As if emphasizing the legitimacy of her question, Sin gestures to his currently battered state.Â
âIf someone did this to me, it wouldnât just be their name Iâd want to ruin.â The words are spoken as simple fact, almost disinterest as Sin tilts her head to the side, deciding sheâd be satisfied with the splint if the wound was her own. Gently, she presses the tip of his index finger between her thumb and forefinger, a brief pressure to check his circulation in the off-chance sheâs secured the splint too tightly. âCan you feel that?â
Ah yes, my two and only moods, homicidal rage and complete and utter apathy
âHeâs supposed to be a fucking psychopath, but if you want, I can call him. You might be worth a psychopath.â
@mysteriomanifestoâ
âWell, donât threaten me with a good time. Iâll take the psychopath over poster-boy âheroâ any day of the week.â
Though, credit where itâs due, itâs a convincing enough ruse.

People people are all just people, right? When it gets down to it, everyoneâs the same.
I have to be crazy because that didnât just happen, right?
Iâm exhausted with this world.
I want you to be where you belong, here with me.
Theyâre following me and theyâre probably following you too.
I really donât want to talk about this right now.
Iâm okay with it being awkward between us.
Look in the mirror. See that badass bitch? Thatâs the only person you should ever worry about.
Think about it. If you died, would anyone care? Would they really care? Yeah, maybe theyâd cry for a day, but letâs be honest. No one would give a shit.
I donât know what your grand plan is, but I need to, and youâre going to tell me.
Donât stay mad at him too long, kiddo.
Look at me. Look at this person who loves you so much he would die a happy man right now just âcause he had this.
I think this is a perfect fucking volume!
Please, you donât have to be angry at yourself any more.
Trust me, I need you now more than ever.
Can I kiss you?
Iâm gonna have to let him hug me, arenât I?
I mean, you say it all the time yourself, thereâs casualties in every revolution.
Do you want to get high and watch your favorite movie?
We need to clean up and get the hell out of here.
We are finally free. We are finally awake.
True courage is about being honest with yourself. Especially when itâs difficult.
Stop thinking about something else when Iâm talking to you.
Why wouldnât I know where you live?
Hereâs what I need from you first. So Iâm gonna pull down my pants, and then Iâm gonna need you to take that pouty mouth of yours and swallow up my balls.
Did you not get my texts last night? I sent you exactly 13 of them.
You are turning out to be a grave disappointment.
I understand what itâs like to be different. Iâm very different too.
There is something seriously wrong with you.
You didnât commit to the sacred pact youâd formed.
Technically what weâre doing might be considered illegal.
What did you hope to accomplish by doing all of this?
Find someone you can be your honest self with, okay?
Are you blackmailing me?
Compliments make me uncomfortable too.
There was a moment that led you to this point right now. My only advice to you is find that moment, understand it. Itâs the only way to reconcile this this failure with yourself.
There is a part of you. Somewhere deep down inside, that knows this is the right thing to do.
We are all together now, whether you like it or not.
I only have 48 twitter followers, but itâs growing.
I mean, this, us? Being here? This has beautiful meaning.
Next time, donât ask. Itâs lame.
I felt the world was a little better off knowing he wasnât in it anymore.
The actual will to take is often the only thing thatâs necessary.
She needs to avoid dickheads like you in the future.
You have no time to pull off whatever it is you think youâre doing.
He cares what you think about him, even though he probably hates that he does.
Between you and me, I was glad he killed himself.
What is it about society that disappoints you so much?
The douche I was dating proposed to me, can you believe? I mean, what an asshole.
You and I both know Iâm crazy. Not the cute kind either.
Personally, man, I was hoping it was just gonna be some BDSM stuff.
Tell me youâre not getting back together with him.
Donât let me down, okay?
Exciting time in the world right now.
Did you know the origin of âbraveâ evolved from âsavageâ?
Didnât I say that if you walked away, you were no longer a part of this?
Instead of wasting any more of my time, I need you to go call someone that matters, because you donât.
How do we know if weâre in control? That weâre not just making the best of what comes at us, and thatâs it?
Real? You want to talk about reality? We havenât lived in anything remotely close to it since the turn of the century.
Donât ever make decisions when youâre on morphine.
For the last month, I have seen you slip into old patterns, old behaviours. What is going on?
Sometimes the universe aligns perfectly.
Iâm good at reading people. My secret: I look for the worst in them.
Is there anyone here who can communicate with this woman?
Clearly, this is tragic, but unfortunately work goes on.
Heâs supposed to be a fucking psychopath, but if you want, I can call him. You might be worth a psychopath.
Good news! I scored the last bag of Twinkies from the store.
I want a way out of loneliness.
I hate when I canât hold in my loneliness.
Itâs so strange. I really miss us. I never thought Iâd have to.
Spoken like a true capitalist.
I suppose a bullet through the brain is peaceful in its own right.
You are acting like weâre walking towards doomsday here.
I feel like things have been awkward between us.
Hello, friend? Thatâs lame.
How do you not blow your brains out being married to him?
Heâs just gonna get away with it? You canât go back to him.
Continuously getting legitimate refills isnât realistic, and neither is being a junkie.
There she is. A ray of sunshine in the dark void of my existence.
Youâre the one constant in a sea of variables.
I am not here to help you find purpose in your life.
So anyways, this should fry anything and everything to a crisp.
Well, sorry, but thereâs no take-backs, so.
I feel embarrassed every time I think about what happened.
What kind of game are we playing?
Hello again. Long time no - whatever it is we do. I missed you.
Youâre supposed to be my god.
I know this looks bad, but Iâm sure thereâs an explanation.
Happy to pull my dick out for you, if thatâs your thing.
If I were you, I wouldnât have even let me in the house.
I wish we already knew each other. Would make this feel less awkward.
The new family that just moved in is so weird, especially the dad.
We might just want the same thing, and I need to be involved.
Somehow when youâre eight, running away can be fun.
It feels like weâve just been rearranging chairs on the goddamn Titanic.
Please, listen to me. I will never leave you. I will never leave you alone again.
Last time we hooked up, we agreed to check politics at the door.
They wonât shut up about how great America is.
I want to talk to you about everything, just not tonight, okay?
The whole nation of Ireland makes my dick soft.
Donât put this on me, okay? This is a shit show and you gave me no time to do it right.
Have some moral fiber and leave their asses.
I know you have a lot to be angry about, but keeping it to yourself and staying quiet like youâre doing itâs not going to help you.
You know how much this means to me.
I mean, hell, everyoneâs destroying the planet beyond the point of no return.
I want it so bad it makes my dick hard.
Unfortunately, weâre all human. Except me, of course.
Weâre all living in each otherâs paranoia.
I am a menace to society!
Iâll take her, but let the record show I was trying to be a good wingman.
You donât even know why youâre crying.
Dude! Jesus Christ! I am naked, asshole! Donât stare at me!
I mean, aliens didnât invade our planet. Zeus didnât come out of the heavens to destroy us. Zombies havenât risen from the dead.
Donât talk your way out of a compliment.
Pssh, yâall have gone and misplaced your collective minds.
I sometimes watch you on your webcam.
Yeah, who am I kidding? I love compliments.
You ever think you deserved it?
Hey, man, I gotta tell you I had sex with your mom this morning, and it was fantastic.
The world itselfâs just one big hoax.
If they lock me up, the kind of door they close donât matter.
You promised me that you were gonna try this time.
People walk around, act like they know what hate means. No one does, until you hate yourself. I mean truly hate yourself. Thatâs power.
I think Iâm pretty fucking far from okay.
We are malicious and hostile. We do not compromise.
i accidentally showed some weakness earlier today it was disgusting i would not recommend itÂ
