Agent 13

In this blog, I’ll be posting comic book panels featuring Marvel's Sharon Carter / Agent 13 - Captain America's favourite spy! There is probably not going to be any movie stuff here, because that seems to be most of the Sharon Carter fan content out there. She’s got a great, deep history in the comics, and I’d like to chronicle that. And in so doing, hopefully put out some positive Sharon Carter content into the world. Twitter: @agent13comics

A happy ending! I really enjoy older comics because they tend to provide these emotional payoffs for readers.

Also, Sharon wearing a nifty jumpsuit -- she wore a lot of jumpsuits in the period, and always looked pretty cool to me. It would be fun if they tried to make this look work for live-action -- maybe not as a uniform/costume, but a one-off outfit.

Sharon and Nicky Fury examining the bomb that’s connected to the tape on the back of Steve’s neck. Fury has called in Tony Stark to disarm it - Stark is, after all, a weapons expert - but Sharon is a bit fretful nonetheless.

This signals a change in the narrative. Sharon has something else to drive her now, and we now have a sense that Steve will be coming back sooner than later...

Captain America v1 #103: Wherein Cap comes to Sharon’s rescue, but she’s the one who has to make sure they have a getaway vehicle when he gets caught up fighting the bad guy instead.

Red Skull is up to something, but Cap and Sharon don’t know that -- although Sharon knows that need to prioritise getting away, ASAP.

Sharon would’ve saved herself earlier, but she knew that she was a pawn in a bigger plan. Actually, Red Skull could have easily captured Steve as well, since he certainly had him incapacitated while the kidnap of Sharon occured. But Skill has figured out that Sharon is someone that Steve cares for, and that hurting her would be much more ‘effective’.

Anyway, they make a great team, as these panels show! The spy & the hero. It’s very clear that the Peggy/Steve dynamic in Captain America: The First Avenger drew heavily from Sharon/Steve of this era.
