what’s the lore behind elodie? idk where to start looking into it on your page
I don’t exactly have a specific answer bc her whole lore is always changing + I have like three versions of it. I’ll try to summarize it the best I can-
Elodie Prince in a nutshell
Elle is a changeling, which in my lore are semi aquatic beings capable of mimicking the looks and behaviors of other creatures for their own survival. In their base form they look like plants and they tend to gravitate towards grindylow and mermaids. They also possess their own kind of magic. They don’t really NEED to use Wands but it helps them a bit.
Elle is either found by someone on behalf of the Prince Family, found by Snape himself or a third option I’m still figuring out
The main thing in most versions of her is that she spies on him in her infancy then molds herself to look like a miniature version of him (Infant Changelings are self dependent to an extent. They don’t have parents so they look for one)
With the Prince Family, she’s more of a doll they show off, then discard when they’re not in public. She’s usually just serving a bunch of bitter old rich people that keep bringing up the past.
The Snape version goes that the Prince Family dies out (or something that forces Elle to be without a home), then she’s placed under Severus’ care at 12. It’s AWKWARD as hell but they’re making it work.
Then there’s the Magic Awakened version that I’m not yet sure about. Basically she somehow sees Snape but the man is already dead so she searches elsewhere. She finds a lovely Muggle couple(Prince surname) and is taken in by them.
Elle is a very sweet kid, and very sociable. She’s empathetic, charismatic and self assured about herself. She’s can at times be snippy and sarcastic but in a way you couldn’t tell. When she’s upset or annoyed, she’s got this thing where she can be very condescending and mean spirited but you’d never know bc she structures her sentences to sound like very vague back handed compliments. If she ever outright insults a person take that as a sign that she HAAAATEEES someone.
She has a tendency to analyze situations and try to find ways to have better outcomes with people- if that makes sense. She says what people want to hear so she can be seen as good or to avoid conflict. Changeling behavior usually leans towards de escalation, conflict avoidance, just being a push over for the sake of survival. Elle is lucky to not feel the need to take such measures around her peers but with certain family members or authoritative people, she quickly “shapes up”
That’s about as much I know for sure. Mind you- this is for Harry Potter- I DO have an alternative version of Elodie for my own project that’s got a different thing going on with her.
