hi hi!!! I've watched sooooo many shows this year compared to the last, especially caught up on all the non thai bls I hadn't seen (I'm too scared to look up the quantity of thai bls I've missed out on cause that might be too overwhelming lol.) so yes! here comes my top 10 so far:
feel what you feel: I've never seen a show like this one before so I really enjoyed it, also I love a first love yearning story & the side couple is actually my fave!
soul mate: destroyed me in the best way. just the kind of shows with an indie queer contemplative vibe that's right down my alley. this one is gonna stay with me for a long time.
the earth: my fave gl romcom so far, the couple is so cute, I love the family dynamics & the action was actually interesting! just 8 eps of pure sunshine!
shades: I love my grittier/more realistic gls DOWN! I'm literally buzzing to get the second half of this show, this made me feel all sorts of things & I absolutely loved it!
hometown romance: just fun all around!!! this is also one of the best gl romcoms yet, it's silly and hilarious but also had some deeper moments that made me cry. loved it!
love like a bike: a show I could not put down with such interesting different ships & stories, treating deep and dark topics pretty well and having honestly really solid acting! I can't stop thinking about the fact that if this was a longer gmmtv show it would've been huge cause it's great!
duang with you: this is, in the long run, a pretty basic forgettable show where not much happens... however it was a great time! it introduced a new kind of dynamic & characters to bl which is something I didn't think could be done in 2026, and I really enjoyed it! I also appreciate it when a romance show actually makes me believe those two characters are made for each other! the high pitched "duang" and "qin" sound effects used throughout the show have become my vocal stims lol
heart code: honestly such a solid show with an actually interesting plot and good chemistry! this deserves more attention tbh!
burnout syndrome: everyone must know by now that I have gripes with this show but it's still one in a million, deeply unique and original, had amazing art, music and acting... its legit only achilles heel is the writing but I still had a great time in front of it and can only dream of having kohjira's insane chemistry with someone else one day lol
head 2 head: a show I thought would be boring and basic and actually managed to surprise me positively. this isn't life-changing but I think they brought out this story in the best possible way and managed to make me invested so I really enjoyed it!
honorable mentions: sammy's children day & contrast
shows released before 2026 that I've loved this year:
see your love: yo why did no one tell me there was a taiwanese bl this good?! this show is near perfect & features one of the cutest pairings in a while imo! I love seeing disability portrayed so accurately on screen & not be magically cured by the end of the show! I also love the side couple in this, honestly one of the best bls I've seen in years!
mandate: the one show that actually made me understand thai politics, and still managed to have insane chemistry & an amazing ship! this is all I love, political, morally gray, queer (obviously)... I'm so annoyed this was kept on a hard to watch streaming site cause it deserved so much more attention!!!
me and thee: just a fun goofy time, man. a definitely deeply ridiculous but also very unique show, and I loved the meta jokes
fight for you: also deffo one of the best taiwanese bls imo, I think this pairing is the cutest & the action of the show very interesting. surprise I also loved the side couple lol
shows I'm currently watching and loving:
enemies with benefits: bruh not to jinx it or anything but I adore this show. I hope it continues to make my heart pound in my chest every episode because this might become my favorite gl romcom if it stays this way! janjinjing are officially my fave gl pairing!
fake fact lips: bruh the way I went into this show expecting to dislike it for being too sexual for no reason, but... wow this might be one of my favorite jbls yet. kinda nervous for the second half of the show now that they're together but the acting & chemistry are so good and the tense moments got me good! I absolutely love it!
flower boy: I love the world-building of this show so much, like finally some actual original stories in thai dramas!!! at first I thought the plot was a bit ridiculous but honestly? they make it work somehow. pearpeak are as always amazing and I really enjoy the different dynamics as well as the morally-gray elements. oh & that c*nty jealous ex bf? is really growing on me I fear
my grandpa is a bl writer: just so fucking fun, man. but also like all PBS shows still having a deeper meaning and lessons to teach. I love the family and the orphanage setting, I love the grandpa awkwardly learning about bl NC scenes and the omega verse (yes they went there lmao), I love the parents being such a united front, I love the little girly & queer friend group of the orphans, and I even love the reluctant grandson dating his clueless best friend. this show brings me so much joy!
when oranges fall: I hadn't even planned to watch this show & it's still super early on but... I'm loving this??? I have a soft spot for first love high school romances & this one seems built up very well. I'm also beyond obsessed with the secondary couple played by kenpaul, they're just the cutest!
life in smokey blue: definitely a slow, subtle show that is right down my alley. it's very indie queer movie coded and I love it for being so different from other bls! but it's also so different that it doesn't give me crazy shippey feelings so that's why it's not higher. not for everyone but definitely for me! more older queer characters please!
girl rules: lowkey much better than I expected, I think sapphics deserve their chaotic shows and this is a pretty solid one for it! my only issue is that I do not care for the main pairing (played by namtanfilm) so yeah... love seeing all the gl actresses interact tho!
lost to you: still kinda early on but I'm loving this. once you get used to his cartoonish haircut, this is a pretty interesting story & I can't wait for them to fall in love!
