Haven't created anything in a while.
Looking for music making apps for Android...
Just got a tablet the other day (something I told myself I would never do, but this one was free, why not), and I’m looking for some music making apps to make use of it. I’ve looked into FL Studio Mobile and that’s not really what I’m looking for (I need something I can sample or at least import audio into). Supreme MPA is high on my like list, but it’s not currently supported by Lollipop. I just downloaded OpenLabs Stagelight and will check that out a little later. But until then, anyone have any other suggestions?
I'm bad at this Tumblr thing; I'll update every social site of mine except this one.
Today and yesterday I set up shop in a Starbucks to try creating some music away from the distractions I have at home. Yesterday was pretty productive. I managed to make two and a half decent tracks. Today I went in with the intentions of creating something for two vocalists that I know; well, one I know, the other I have a mutual connect with. Making music without an song idea is kind of hard for me, as I have no songwriting talent that I know of. I did manage to put together 3 ideas (that didn't fit either vocalist in my head), and started one idea as my battery started to die that I think might work for one. Let's see if I can make something work.
Reworking a few old Pro Tools mixes in Studio One with Waves plugins.
Just copped the Waves Silver Bundle.
Any reading on music is a plus. And shout out to Young Guru and the Era Of The Engineer movement.
Thinking of doing a remix album.
What do you think? Know someone with a cappellas?
New addition to the setup. I'm slowing up on the beats because I really want to get back into mixing music (not really "back into", I've only been mixing my music).
Available now at music.bishopjackson.com.
Finished up mixing, now it's on to "mastering" the project. Still don't know what I'm doing in the layering area, but I'm determined to do everything myself, while also not ruining the project. "Raw Beats Vol. 3" available June 30, 2015 at www.bishopjackson.com.
So, over the past three weeks I’ve been piecing together a new mobile setup (my old laptop tied on me two years ago after six years). And this is it: Hardware: - Lenovo G50-45 Laptop running Windows 8.1 64-Bit with 6GB of RAM, 2Ghz AMD A8-6410 APU processor, 500GB hard drive - Seagate Backup Plus Slim USB 3.0 1TB external hard drive - Akai MPKmini MIDI controller - Novation Launchpad Mini - Audio-Technica ATH-M40x Monitoring Headphones Software: - Presonus Studio One Producer 2.6 (main DAW) - FL Studio 12 Producer - Avid Pro Tools M-Powered 8.5 (for conversion to Pro Tools sessions if needed) - Native Instruments Komplete 9 Ultimate I also picked up a new backpack to carry all of this in. I’m hoping this enables me to work away from home (at work, randomly at Starbucks, on my vacation later in the year, etc.) As I haven’t been able to work here at home in months. I also might grab the Reason 8 upgrade as I haven’t upgraded since version 5 and am unable to install that on a Windows 8 system. Let’s see what kind of creativity this sparks.
Bishop Jackson EP 2
In 2011 I released the "Bishop Jackson EP", a collections of songs that I produced (recorded and mixed) the previous year. Between the release of that EP and now I have had the pleasure to work on more music with most of the artists that were on that project as well as a few new (and old) collaborators. I decided to put some of that material together to compile another EP. Some of you out there may have heard these songs before, some of you may be new to it. This, "Bishop Jackson EP 2", is a project to promote these tracks in on piece of work, similar to what the first EP was. Hopefully after releasing this EP I will be able to work on new material specifically tailored to a "Bishop Jackson EP 3", or possibly a "Bishop Jackson LP"; we'll see which one we'll be able to get next. But this is the starting point. This is a free EP, but please feel free to 'donate' and help to make professional studio recording sessions easier for the next "Bishop Jackson EP". Also, let others know to check this out by referring them here or directly to the link below. I hope you enjoy the music if it's new to you and that you still enjoy it if it's material that you've heard before. And lastly, thank you to everyone who was apart of this project; THUG NASTii, Shae, Mr. Ray, Reyvee Tension, Menno P, Akil, bE!, Champlu, Della, Boss Man, Bryan and Josh at Skyline Studios, Jason Cori at Next Level Audio, and Alexia Nervosa and Nick Dillinger for the photograph. Click here (or the image above) to download the "Bishop Jackson EP 2". Enjoy! Note: The "Bishop Jackson EP 2" will be available for download in its entirety February 10, 2015, but there is one track available for streaming now. So be sure to check back this Tuesday to download the full EP.
Pushing "Bishop Jackson EP 2" back...
"The Bishop Jackson EP 2" was supposed to be released today, February 3rd, but there is one track whose mix I want to revisit and I wasn't able to do that in time. So I will be releasing the project next week, February 10th.
Also, this is a free project, like the first, that features THUG NASTii, Mr. Ray, Akil, bE!, Champlu, Menno P and a few others. 6 free tracks that you may or may not have heard before in one package. Please support this so that I can bring you "The Bishop Jackson EP 3" quicker than I was able to present this one.
Today's purchases. Almost made it out if the store at under $30, but then I found the "Black Dynamite" instrumental album and The Revelations' album and left at $67.44. Best believe that there will be some beats coming out of these. Especially the Adrian Younge and Bonnie Pointer joints.
Go check out Mariimomma's (mariimomma) latest project "(Re)Intro".
I'm currently working on some music for her for us to collaborate on. So pay attention to that coming soon as well.
