I’ve been away for a while due to some personal issues, taking a sort of abrupt semi-hiatus. I have a lot of work to catch up on and I need to get to a place where I can cope better, so I’ll just officialise this mini hiatus now. I’m not leaving but it may take a week or so more to get back on track with my workload (I have 2 weeks off starting this Friday so perhaps I’ll be back then - though I do have coursework to be doing). So see you guys soon!

    A small smirk tugged at the corner of his mouth at the mention of the fuzz and Jerry simply shrugged it off. “Ah, really? Well then they’d have had a fun time scoopin’is insides off the walls and outta the gutta. Y’boyfriend a cop? They can’t touch me, doll.” Having political connections was always a good thing but sort of useless to a young guy who simply worked under his father. Connections in the police departments kept his troubles at bay.

     For a moment, she expects that he’s going to snap back at her. Let that raging temper of his take control. Maybe he’ll start with a few harsh words, but then again, he might just jump right into it. Start throwing things, starting her premature death. She’s always known she was never going to live to a hundred and how better to die than at the hands of Mad Rich. She wants it too. Not the death, per se, but the fight. She wasn’t kidding when she said she was bored. It’s itching away at her insides, clawing at her mind, driving her crazy. She can barely stand to keep still and the thought of unleashing that annoyance in a violence filled fury set her nerves on fire, her heart already beating a little bit faster. Come on, Jeriko. Are you gonna let that go? He sighs. Ana’s eyes grow a touch wider with surprise and then she settles back into her seat, her tension dampened.

     He’s giving in. Letting her get away with it. God, she has to respect that. Not many men would be so willing to give up pride and agree. There’s even an apology. Dammit it, she can’t help but think to herself, I guess you win too. “ Alright, fine. ” She replies, a little slowly, crossing her arms over her chest. “ I’ll go along with this, if you are. But I’m not even sure why we’re here in the first place. I don’t expect much from these shits. ”

    The look on her face tells him everything. People know, it happens and it’s out of his control - they lay in wait when things are said in a way which would be considered ‘out of line’ with him. She expected it to get the better of him and clearly, she was no fool - not afraid to fight and knowing damned well she’d stand her ground. Not that self-confidence could necessarily keep someone safe from his unreasonable aggression.

    “Grazie.” And he does appreciate the cooperation, with a woman like Ana, it’s very profitable to maintain an enjoyable friendship free of underlying ill-intentions and silent reservations. “To be honest, neither do I. Back in the day my father made them a promise, y’gotta honour that and now I’m here to repay the debt. I can’t do it without your help  - my family is gonna be very grateful to you, Ana. Besides when this shit’s over we can get somethin’ to eat. I’m fuckin’ starvin’ my ass off over here.” Her signature was highly vital in securing all this, unfortunately. When families went way back with each other, waters seemed to mix in ownership and co-management.  

    Finally the men returned with a briefcase, seemingly satisfied with whatever the hell had gone down in the other room. It was opened to present what Jeriko expected to be 100 large for the line of three deals he’d done across this year. Storm clouds immediately brewed over grey when nothing but a slice of meat was seen - well it looks like they weren’t satisfied with his end of the bargain. Go figure. They were attempting to bully him into submission here?  “ . . .  Capicola, huh?” Oh yeah, now he was insulted, tongue dripping with venom as it pressed to the inside of his cheek. Not only were they practically slapping him in the face with a fish, but his deceased father too and that was immediately not tolerated. 

    He gave Ana a wry look, heavily disappointed with how the way business was dealt with these days. Looks like he’d owe her wasted time as well as a favour now. With a heavy sigh and a bitter apology to his pop running on his mind, Jeriko shot all three before they knew what hit ‘em and stood. “I’m thinkin’ I get Ma to cook us somethin’ tonight, hm? So why don’t you come over?” He questioned casually, putting the gun back in the holster hidden beneath his jacket. Sure, they’d agreed no weapons on the premises as it was ‘just friends sealing a deal’ but honestly if they were too careless to frisk him, they deserved it. And this was exactly why he didn’t trust people the way his father did. This family was old, the three sat opposite him, now dead, meant nothing and this wouldn’t start any fights. It was just a shame he’d be leaving without getting his money and without signing a few lease deals the Maddente’s had promised to them.
