Thank you for visiting my Tumblr! I’m a writer, blogger, and general misanthrope. By day I am a homeschooling mom with way too much time and snarky attitude to know what to do with. I blog a few times a week about the general goings on in my community and my life; as well as some of my radical and often snarky ideas. For some reason I seem to attract the crazies – most often not of the good sort. Since graduate school, I’ve published a compilation of my best blogs, been Freshly Pressed, and have numerous short story and academic publications. I am currently working on a satire about life in California. I hope you enjoy my blog and my general bitchiness. I like to consider myself brutally honest and completely unwilling to sit around while stupidity reigns supreme. When I was in graduate school, my favorite professor and mentor told me once that I was “like a gadfly on the horse’s ass of society.” He was commenting on the fact that I always questioned the status quo; and I refused to accept complacency. Since leaving school, I have become evermore convinced that life just isn’t fun without at least one gadfly.

I’m a sucker for a rebrand. Over the years, I have rebranded this website, and the posts I put on it, so many times that it’s hard to even attempt to count. With thousands of subscribers who have joined over the years, I’m sure that’s been jarring. There was a time when I just posted about being a mom. Times when it was all about anecdotal complaints about marriage…

The public-nonprofit-private relationship is essential to the fulfillment of services needed by the general public at any given time. Though, over time, the privatization of government has led to entirely new views on just how we define the public. This Policy Memo outlines both the different ways governments now view the public, and policy solutions to refocus attention on a more egalitarian…

I’m starting the new year off right over here, with a new Policy Brief addressing the sticky and increasing problem of fraud in government.
Fraud and corruption often go hand in hand, and have certainly been around in some form forever. However, many factors have complicated addressing it, and with the rise of social media and the American public’s general awareness…

Hard Truths: SPECIAL DISCUSSION: The Political Assassination of Charlie Kirk
It would be impossible to not be aware of the events of this week. So I will not rehash them, especially given the traumatic images that we all witnessed, the complexity of the situation, and the need for conciseness. However, the political assassination of conservative activist, Charlie Kirk, the concurrent school shooting in Colorado, and subsequent bomb threats at the DNC, multiple bomb…

NEW POLICY BRIEF: MAIN STREET MOVES - VENTURA - August 2025
I’m proud to announce the completion of my consulting firm’s Policy Brief with in depth topic analysis and policy recommendations regarding Main Street Moves in Ventura, California.
If you’re unfamiliar with the situation, the City of Ventura has had a portion of Main Street in the downtown region closed since the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic. This, however, has faced many challenges, with the…
