Some woman on TikTok told me to look back on my teenage years. I was one of five teenagers and my parents were in their fifties, bereft of the energy required to keep up with their unruly brood. My parents, with their usual vengeance, had estranged the other older sisters so there was no help coming from them. Then the church that our parents had devoted their lives to collapsed and my parents were out of their depth. With our youthful rage and insolence, we got our revenge for being raised by people who hated children and could not afford them.
