the fact the duffers emphasized the idea of rewatchability and the story feeling cohesive and satisfying for future people marathoning the show during the s5 promo is so suspicious given they knew they were going to kill el, nuke the characterization of everyone else, sideline the main cast in favour of random kids (with it being an ongoing joke that they have too many characters) and a truly nothing military side-plot that's only possible through hopper uncharacteristically showing mercy to the woman who tried to kill him and his daughter ( and then like an episode later threatening kali)

it makes no sense. unlesssssss....?

I'm always so perplexed by the idea people have that Ted "our son?? with a girl???" Wheeler would be violently homophobic and cruel about Mike coming out, bc I truly feel like he has always thought Mike was such a strange and weird little guy anyway that it would just be like

if CG isn't real i will forever be baffled by how something could go as downhill as ST like truly it's a downward spiral for the ages. impressively bad ending.

just imagine how embarrassing it would be to spend all that money and time making something and then have it suck so bad fans crash netflix waiting for something better because almost no one believes you could fuck up that much without it being on purpose. i would never show my face again i'd simply HAVE to go into hiding id be burning off my fingerprints in a gas station bathroom in boise, idaho by dusk. theres no recovering from that emotionally i dont think.

i just keep thinking about it. it's like i was sad about byler for a bit but honestly el's ending aand the general lack of substance in any of the writing is what really shocked me because i thought regardless of whether byler became canon there would at least be plot that would make it kind of worth it i just did not anticipate such a nothing experience.

everyone compares it to marvel movies but at least marvel movies make people giggle or whatever? they aren't my thing personally but from my best understanding they do still manage to have SOME sutbstance and they did kill off some fan favs. stranger things was a failure in every metric it could have been a failure in. it was so bad it retroactively took the things people liked about it before and had them be mocked widespread. this is a catastrophe level failure if it isn't intentional. i don't think there's enough money in the world that could smooth over the emotional wreckage i would be in if i created something and it received THAT level of scrutiny and disappointment.
