i like blue robots part 2
Johnny-0 prototype (2010) by Sherbrooke University, Québec. Johnny-0 is a platform capable of natural reciprocal interaction with humans. This prototype is a RobotMotio REDDY robot on top of an AZIMUT 3 omnidirectional mobile base.
"For the upper torso of Johnny-0, we decided to continue to explore the benefit of using DEAs [Differential-Elastic Actuators] as the actuation scheme. Two torsi are currently being developed, … one mostly aims at simple gesture generation, interaction and manipulation of small objects of 100g maximum, replacing the servo-motors of a Reddy platform … with custom-designed DEAs, while the other is made to handle more complex manipulation tasks using DEAs similar to the ones used to steer AZIMUT-3’s articulations. It will have 3 degrees-of-freedom (DOF) DEA arms, and a 4 DOF DEA arm with a 2 DOF compliant gripper." – Toward Autonomous, Compliant, Omnidirectional Humanoid Robots for Natural Interaction in Real-Life Settings.

"Breathtaking... l shall call him... Mini Me!"
Recently, I've been deeply troubled by the realization that robots can't cuddle in the way that humans do. You can't share in the comfort of each other's skin and body heat, because you have neither of those. I was beginning to think it was just an inherent, poetic cost of shedding your mortality that you would no longer be able to experience a moment of shared vulnerability like that... this is fortunately not the case.
Imagine, if you will, sitting in the presence of someone you trust after a long day of excessive energy consumption. Your systems need a break. So you start to power down most of your sensory equipment. The mechanical whir of your body slows and softens. Theirs does, too. Maybe the two of you are playing a video game together, polishing your plating, shifting into sleep mode, or even just talking. The specifics don't matter. You trust them, and know them well. You won't need any help from your senses to know that they're here with you.

Mech block out
Practice mech, heavily based on a raven from Battletech, most of the shape drawn before looking at any refs, taking plenty of liberties; I don’t think, at least the way I drew it, actual digitigrade looks as good as just reverse jointed
