Possible Halloween costumes:

- Irma from Picnic at Hanging Rock, Victorian school girl dress, antique valentines, ringlets, bloody hands.

- Lady Margaret’s ghost from Lady Margaret and Sweet William, medieval or renaissance revival dress, veil, crying eyes, roses and thorns.

- Spiritualist medium Eva Carrière. Black satin, a halo of ectoplasm.

- An art deco version of Saint Lucy, a socialite or actress who removes her eyes to escape a suitor.

- Ballerina ghost, violet La Sylphide costume with silk roses, hollow eyes, palest lips.

- A broken doll after Bellmer and Slocombe, covered in bandages, knee socks and mary janes, a cast, maybe extra limbs.

- Ram horn headband, velvet cape, pentagrams on my palms.

- Sea witch inspired by Malá Morská Víla, with this dress, feather, sea shell and coral headpiece, trident.

- Pannochka from Viy, diaphanous burial gown, a single bloody tear, crown of daisies, a pact with the devil.

- Like Elsa Schiaparelli‘s skeleton dress, thin, slinky and black fabric revealing a distorted spine, ribs, pelvis. 

Already this year, as a last moment costume for a witch theme, I wore my deep blue velvet cape with a rabbit mask, after the girls of Summerisle on May Day.

- Luna moth, sheer metallic green fabric wrapped like a toga over an iridescent gold dress, feathery antennae. Wings, pearly and oversized.

- Amanda Feilding, brightly patterned maxi dress, preferably chiffon or velvet, gauze over a recent trepanation, blood running down my face and a sign, “Trepanation for National Health.” 

- A character from Italian silent diva films. Lace gown, embroidered piano shawl, flowers falling down loose curls, burnt cork shadowing the eyes and deep wine lips. Maybe a perfume bottle with a poison label, or a mouth bloody from consumption, an unrequited love letter and crystal tears.

- A bloody bride in a stained gown and tulle veil, holding sanguine roses.

- Last year I was a disco vampire, with a high slit black and silver lamé maxi dress, fangs, bat wings, blood on my lips, and an Italo disco soundtrack.

- Daphne turning into a laurel tree, branches coming out of my back, shoulders and arms, leaves scattered over skin, gold braided jewelry and a light airy dress.
