Week 11&12
Amazing that we are half way through training already! At the end of week 12 Lauren and I have run at total of 237 miles each. The mileage is growing and the runs are taking longer.
In week 11, Lauren and I visited our college roommate, Nerissa in Philly. They did not get any snow compared to what we have in Boston so it was dry but chilly long 13 mile run along the river. That week I ran 4 miles on the treadmill and did a Barre class and Bootcamp for cross training. We also took a yoga class in Philly post long run on Sunday and did many miles of walking an site seeing! It was a great trip and great way to see the city. And yes we did run the Rocky Stairs!
Week 12 was a snowy week. We got an additional 2 feet of snow on top of the 2 feet we got the week before due to the blizzard. My rest day consisted of shoveling out my car and all of my shorter runs were inside on the treadmill... boring.... I did get in a barre class and bootcamp as well as yoga the day after my 14 miler. Lauren and I had to run separately due to traveling for work. But I did hit my first major "miles milestone" with my longest distance to date at 14 miles! It was a good run but exhausting due to the amount of attention you had to have to watch where you were stepping and to make sure you wouldn't be hit by a car since I ran good stretches on the roads. This week (week 13) is another snowy week so more treadmill running to come as well as another snow storm on Thurs/Fri...

Week 9&10
Week 9 totals: 22 miles
Week 9 was a brutally cold week. It started out with a nice pool session at Spaulding on Sunday to ease our muscles from our 10miler in week 8. For crosstraining I did Barre, Pilates, and a bootcamp. Training runs were a 4.2 mile hill workout and a short 3.5 miles. The long run was on heartbreak hill with the team on a very very very cold Saturday morning. We did 11 miles in Chestnut Hill and it was great to get some experience out on the course.
Week 10 totals: 27 miles
Week 10's weather was much better and with a Holiday on Monday it made training much easier. Cross training consisted of Pilates, Barry's and indoor cardio class due to some snow on Saturday. I did a nice recovery run on Sunday the after the cold run in week 9, plus a track run and 5.5 run with Lauren during the week. Our 12 miler was in the bike lanes to Charlestown due to the poor side walk conditions due to the snow. My shins have been bothering me a bit but I am taking all precautions to keep them from developing into shin splints!
