We went into the town of Farnham today and started our walk into town through Brightwells Yard.
We walked towards the central car park, past the old Natwest building, which is currently being converted into flats.
We headed to the Borough in West Street where we got some pictures of the new Mountain Warehouse, which is being fitted out inside!
It is great to have another retail unit open in the former Woollies after Poundland closed in 2024, 10 years after it opened in the unit.

Farnham Town. Part 2.
We headed towards the Lion & Lamb Yard, here is an old sign on one of the nearby buildings!
We past the Hop Blossom and saw the new apartments which have been built opposite. These back onto a number of shops in the Borough.
The Lion & Lamb!
Afterwards we went into Elphicks and then walked towards Gostrey Meadows, through Church Lane near St. Andrews' Church.
Most of the old toilet blocks behind the new playground is being redeveloped. There are some new benches laid out across the meadow.
Ducks with ducklings and pigeons by the river!

The 'Farnham' wildflower bug hotel in Gostrey Meadow.
We crossed over into Borelli walk, which has a lot of interesting wildflowers, and poppies as you walk over the bridge.
We headed back past the sports centre and went to the riverside car park to head to M&S!

We got our lunch at Marks & Spencers today!
We went to the Hale recreation ground to have our lunch.
05.06.26
After lunch, we walked over to the Hales Chapels Garden on Alma Lane, Hale in Farnham.
The garden is located in the Hale Cemetery and is on the site of two former chapels which had fallen into disrepair over the years.
The original buildings were built in 1871 and 1872 by Goddards of East Street.
They were designed by architect Sidney Stapley and built on land which was donated to the parishioners of Hale by the War Office.
In 2012, the council and Farnham Building Conservation Trust did a report to asses the condition of the chapels and seek their future use.
The chapels had been fenced up since the mid 2010s.
They were knocked down in 2023 during the creation of the new Chapel garden. It opened later in the same year.
The foundations of each chapel is shaped to exactly their original position and held together with steel.
The garden was a 2024 regional finalist in the prestigious Civic Trust Awards.
It was designed by award winning Graduate Landscapes and built by Landform who created the hilltop garden at RHS Wisley and have won multiple awards at Chelsea and Hampton Court.

Hales Chapels Garden. Part 2.
The cemetery garden sits next door to the Hale Primary & Nursery Academy School, which was previously known as Hale County School before 2019.
We met a very friendly lady who was taking Gus, who is a Burmese Mitted Lilac Point cat for a walk around the cemetery. He is 18 years old!
Here is a Google Map view from 2024 and another from 2009, showing the two Chapels.
This picture shows both of the chapels fenced off in 2020.
Here are some old architect site drawings and elevations of the original chapels from the Waverley Planning maps below.
Some of the information I've collected together about the chapels was found on the Heritage Impact Statement document.

We blogged for Amiri Construction in Bournemouth at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital today.
Checkout all of the solar panels!
Here is a picture I took of the building using the 'Key Line' ART filter on my Olympus camera.
Afterwards we went to have lunch at Janesmoor Pond in the New Forest, where it started hammering down with rain, along with some thunder and lightening!
01.06.26
We went for a walk in Bourne Woods today.

We walked through the Beech tree area in the woodlands, which looked stunning in the sun!
We headed back to the Bourne green.
01.06.26
After our walk in Bourne Wood, we headed over to Frensham and had lunch in the recreation ground.
We then headed over to the Frensham garden centre.
I bought some Papo models, including a great crested newt, a wood Pidgeon & a white peacock, which almost resembles Lord Shen!
We came back through the Borough in Farnham on the way back.
Coming up Downing Street, we saw the relocated Herald building next to Loaf.
We saw some of the letters for the new Mountain Warehouse signage being put up!
We went around again and they had finished the sign!
A green hanging sign for the store was later added onto the right side of the building.
It looks great, we will be checking this out in more detail with a visit on Friday!

We watched DreamWorks' Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011) today.
See my review here:

This movie is my favourite of the franchise, as it features a very mature story about Po finding the dark truth about his past.
The villainous Lord Shen who was soon to be a prince, goes out of his way to destroy a village of pandas, believing they are a threat to his future plans of heralding in the era of gun powder and phasing out traditional martial arts such as Kung fu.
Like Po, Lord Shen also has a past issue involving his parents who he feels had betrayed him, by sending him away from Gongmen City as a result of his destruction.
Shen shows no emotion when he destroys his own ancestral palace his parents have left him.
Po breaks the habit of his past by discovering who he really is with the power of inner peace. Lord Shen struggles to break his own past with his parents relationship.
Po is more emotional with Shen and offers him a chance to change things around, unlike Tai Lung, who he sees as a danger and finishes off in the first movie.
This results in Shen attempting to wound him, only to cut the ropes of his own canon, and stay put as he ends up getting crushed by his own invention.
Shen does this because this is the only way he could find peace, as he knew he was a dangerous character. The fireworks caused by his weapon at the end symbol this in the form of a peacock.
I think that all of these things ultimately make Lord Shen the best animated villain!
This fan-made video explains Shen's more sympathetic feel, most of which was cut from the final movie:
The soundtrack for Kung Fu Panda 2 was conducted by Gavin Greenaway, composed by John Powell and Hans Zimmer.
It was recorded at Air Studios London and Abbey Road Studios.
