She mentioned that it was strapped to her thigh and he cocked his head curiously. Wondering why she’d even mention where it was if she knew he was after the same thing she was. He smiled at her. She’s playing a game with me. He thought, a smile on his lips. “That’s the one.” Thomas replied in a breath, glancing her over again, now with the newfound knowledge that it was tucked away against her inner thigh. “It’s a shame you told me, I would have loved searching all of you for it.” He found himself saying. Keeping them swaying to the rhythm of the song. Keeping up appearances was important anyway. If they were to get away Scott-free. He wondered how long it would be before someone noticed the fake Felicia had planted. He didn’t actually get a good look at how close she got it to the real thing. Which means he didn’t know just how much time they had to get out of here.
He glanced around when she did, having a look at what she was suggesting him to do. She wanted a trade, which he would have considered- but it meant that he’d have to stop dancing with her, which he was having way too much fun doing. He let out a gentle hum, as if he was considering it. “A trade, huh?” He whispered. The second option was something he fancied a lot more than the first. He decided pretty quickly that he’d go for the second option and then grab something for her on the way out. She didn’t need to be going home without anything at all. Besides, he wanted to impress her. “How about a little of both.” He said, finally pulling away from her ear more, so he could get a better look at her face again. “I’ll be taking the necklace now, and I’ll grab you something on our way out.” He told her, beginning to move his hand down her body from where it was stationed at the small of her back.
"If you think it’ll be that easy to take us home,” Felicia chuckled, her voice low enough for only Thomas to hear. “You’re quite mistaken.” The orchestra’s melody slowly began fading. People around them clapped with their gloved hands, the sound tamed and brief as each of the musicians slightly bowed, waved, then sat down. She felt his hand traveling down her back towards the necklace, then smiled knowingly. It was going to be a fun night. As Thomas’ hand fell down, hers went up to gently cup his jaw. Felicia took a deep breath, slowly inching closer before pressing her lips against his, her eyes fluttering close. The melody began once again, the couples around them retaking their dance. Her lips moved slowly against his as she moved the necklace from her thigh up to her chest. The kiss was her way of distracting him while she took care of the necklace. She didn’t trust him; he could easily leave her behind empty handed and there was no way a man would fool her again. But as she finished moving the necklace Felicia didn’t break away from the kiss, didn’t dare open her eyes. She went still, a small frown on her forehead. Get away. Get away from him.
As if awakening from a trance, Felicia’s eyes flew open and she moved her face away from Thomas, their lips severed from one another. It wasn’t strange for her to kiss men on the job. After all, it was the easiest way of distracting them. But this, him. He was making Felicia feel things fluttering inside her stomach. And she couldn’t do her job if she was feeling things. Stealing was a job for the numb. "I do hope whatever you’re selling it for is worth it.” Felicia breathed out, licking her lips unconsciously as she looked away from Thomas. A kiss was just a kiss. It didn’t need to be anything more than that, so she stayed quiet, didn’t say anything about it even though her heart was racing. “Although I have to say, I find it hard to trust someone who prefers the money over the jewelry.” Sure, he was a guy. Why would a guy want a necklace if he could have the money, right? But there was no beauty in stealing for money, and there was certainly no beauty in money itself. “What’s so special about money if anyone can have it?”
